Do you guys think there should be a computer priority thing? Where real coaches must be signed before a computer generated one? There's nothing cleaner then a computer coaching staff that are all legit guys, I love it.

I think coaching and managing should play a bigger role in MLB '11, even if it's just little things like during the pre game cut scene, maybe throw in the hitting coach showing a hitter a swing or something like that, just to give us some cosmetic relevance.

It's one of the reasons I hate going past the 3 year mark in a franchise, it seems like the computer purposely avoids using real guys as coaches.
Since the A's have Bob Geren as their manager, I have to respond with a resounding Hell No to this one.

Seriously though, how many managers got fired this season? How many last year? It happens a lot in real life, so it should happen on the game. What's going to happen to the Cubs and the Braves next season? Rumor has it that Ryan Sandberg has a shot at the Cubs skipper. That couldn't happen if they imposed your rule. Forcing the CPU to choose a real life manager over a made up one is no different than forcing the CPU to sign a real player even if the drafted prospect is better. Now if you could edit managers and coaches, that could make it work for everyone. Edit real life managers if you like and then you could make sure that real life managers are more sought after as well as changing names of made up ones for further down the road. It would be cool if coaches progressed on the game as well so that that young hitting coach could someday work his way up to manager.

For purely aesthetic reasons, I'd rather see Ozzie Gullien then "Chester Winklton" with the mutton chops. Gives it a realistic vibe.

Yeah, I agree editing coaches would be awesome, or the ability to check other teams coaches.

Edit - Or have them look like old men at least, maybe use a guys face from the office or somethin'.

I agree! why couldn't they let us create Managers then guys who create legendary teams could add any Manager from Baseball History. Wow great fit, I like that!

We could add Walter Alston, Sparky Anderson, Connie Mack, Leo Durocher, Whitey Herzog, Casey Stingel, Tommy Lasorda, Don Zimmer etc.

        Icing on the cake!

I love "The Show" but other games had a few interesting things that SCEA might want to consider.

MVP had "Body" sliders that gave us control of each body group. Maybe when the "New Body Models" make their debut...

How did ASB add all their "Classic Stadiums" on the PS2 format? Amazing!

World Series Baseball 2K3 has the title for "Most Exciting" visual no doubter Home-Runs. Great visual candy!
I loved hitting Home-Runs in that game...

What the hell is a "daybue"?

Along the whole coach thing, it would be cool if retired players could enter the coaching pool. How awesome would it be to hire Smoltz as your pitching coach a few years after he retires?

It's the only thing keeping SCEA from including just about everything Classic.

It's cost vs. worth for them.

Re: What do you suspect will B changed in '11?

Why I believe weekly reports/replays might be in the game (a la NFL 2k5).

I recently went back to playing with my RTTS Franchise, and I've been noticing whenever I made the 3rd out of the inning, sometimes it would show a highlight from an un-played (for my RTTS user) at bat, where the other team had hit a big double/homer/etc...(I.E. I'm playing RF and the ball is hit to LF for a homerun)

Again, I could be wrong and maybe I did play that at-bat , but if I'm correct they should be able to us this feature to just collect a couple of big plays for some important/entertaining games of the week. Then place them together with some commentary for a weekly highlight reel... Hopefully

Maybe Russel or someone else can dispute my "I don't remember playing this at bat"?!?

i think they're going to spruce up the batting practice feature, and also let you do BP within your season... what i mean is, it looks like when you load your season file, then you can't do BP. once you leave your season and go to BP, you would have to browse and load up the roster file you used to make your season if you wanted to do BP w/ pitchers within that roster file... very tedious.

now about sprucing up... current BP seems so antisocial... you need atmosphere sounds... a semi filled stadium with kids for ex. cheering you on taking BP, or even a commentator describing the pitch, describing the resulting hit, line drive... etc.

Re: What do you suspect will B changed in '11?

The main issue I would like to see tweaked is the fielding. Some things are the outfielders not having a sense of urgency getting rid of the ball on tag-up plays or after fielding a ball off the wall or when catching a ball and then running into the wall. Infield play has much of the same delay getting rid of the ball. Have seen too many plays by pitchers & infielders taking their time in throwing which allows even slow baserunners to reach base.

The biggest 'glitch' I have seen on several occasions is when a runner is going from first to third(which happens way to often on user controlled team by the way) and the runner should be out by 5 steps or more and the third baseman just stays frozen like in a first baseman's stretch and the runner slides in safely.

I still 'love' this game even with these few 'minor' warts. I don't have any complaints at all about pitching or hitting.

                              Thanks,

                              Waz
