Re: First flyball error in over 200 games!!
I never said I wanted more dropped flyballs...look at my post after the one you quoted.
I only got BACK involved in this thread because someone mentioned the gold glove race in franchise.
I simply implied that I'd like to see more outfield errors. Like I stated earlier, errant throws, etc.Comment

Re: First flyball error in over 200 games!!
I never thought my thread would have garnered so much debate. I agree that more outfield errors are needed in this game, not necessarily routine fly balls, but overthrows to third and home and more booted balls which cause runners to gain an extra base. After a full season in my game in which I have played out every game I have a grand total of 2 outfield errors (1 fly ball, 1 overthrow to third). The real Jays have made 8 outfield errors so far as a team and there is still a month left to go in the season. Thats 4 times more errors in real life than in the game. Though I don't all of a sudden want to see a plethora of fly balls being dropped next year, a few more errors, especially variety of errors in the outfield would be nice next year. To me infield errors are pretty accurate this year. A good variety of booted balls, overthrows and dropped or missed balls by the first baseman. My team fielding pecentage in the game was .990, where as IRL its .986, so its pretty close. I also have errors set at default, so I could always bump this up if I want more errors. I had 64 errors (62 by the infield) this year. So far the Jays have 73 errors and the Reds who are leading the league have 56 errors and a .989 fielding %. So total errors are pretty accurate, maybe a tad low, but this could be fixed by bumping up the slider.Comment

there is no way to compare it to real life though. On the video game there can be certain injuries leading to players with higher defensive ratings being injured or not injured compared to real life. Unless of course you are running a franchise with 30 team control and mirroring the exact season down to a "T"Comment

I agree with this. I'm okay with the lack of dropped fly balls, but maybe a bad throw here and there or something. And at least change the logic in Gold Glove voting.I never thought my thread would have garnered so much debate. I don't want to mess with error sliders because I think I have too many infield errors as it is.Comment

No need for the insults.
Plus...you are absolutely incorrect. I do not edit any players. EVER.
But you really should be more minding of your mouth....especially when you don't know what you're talking about.

Re: First flyball error in over 200 games!!
This is something I would like to see SCEA improve upon. I never had paid much attention to outfielders ratings but I wonder if lowering their fielding rating would help on seeing some more errors. I know 1 thing I would not want to see it tweak it to much and then we see way to many errors.Comment

Re: First flyball error in over 200 games!!
I always lower Jack Cust's rating to 0 and have only seen him drop one fly ball in last year's game. I don't know about this year, as I took away his glove and made him a permanent DH. I have dropped one fly ball this year with Chris Carter playing LF as a secondary position and had a play called an error on a shoe string attempt by Nick Swisher. I have also had throwing errors by outfielders, but very rare. Two season in a row in my franchise, I have had two gold glove outfielders. I have put lots of players in the outfield that might not be suited for it (Jason Giambi for one) with very little discernible effect. The infield is another story.Comment

Re: First flyball error in over 200 games!!
I think the complaint of those unhappy with the status quo can be summarized like this. There is not enough misplaying of flyballs by fielders in this game. Here is my example and tell me you don't agree, when I am controlling an outfielder I feel no urge to get in a good position to catch a flyball. Even when a player is not directly underneath the ball they will make the lunging out of position catch and I don't think I have seen even 1 of these get dropped in this game.Comment

Although, I do believe the catch indicator grows and shrinks based on the player's attributes."Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"Comment

Re: First flyball error in over 200 games!!
I'm using SCEA default rosters from around June and haven't seen anything yet from outfielders with D and F fielding ratings so I don't think this is limited to Knight's rosters.Comment

Re: First flyball error in over 200 games!!
It's got nothing to do with Knight's (or anyone else's) roster. Knight didn't do any edits. He's just looking for someone to blame. If anyone's to blame, it's SCEA. But, I am not saying they are the blame, either. I just think it's gameplay.Comment
