I would love to see if they could add a bat speed rating. Most players swing from mid 80's to up as high as 110mph " Bryce Harper". I think it is a very needed stat to make things even more realistic. People like Harper when called up or even a Jason Heyward or Mike Stanton who still have lower power #'s still should hit balls as far as anyone. How do you judge that? Take Jose Bastuia hit 50 plus bombs but doesn't hit many huge bombs could have a 95power rating with a 90bat speed and hit 430ft HRs. but like a harper with a 65 or 70 power with a 110bat speed could hit balls 475 plus but still only hit 20 or 30 bombs in a full sim season. Just an example!!! Just another way to add more realism and more individuality to more players. If you could ask that question or see what there thoughts on bat speed is that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks man

This was my secret ingredient! Well said and I have been trying to get an invite to the community event now for two years! This in my honest opinion would absolutely change the way this game plays all together!

You my friend are my new friend! They say great minds think alike! In all of my experience of scouting players, bat speed is something that has set me apart in my own reports. Most grade on 5 tools and I have always graded bat speed as an extra attribute and I have never been incorrect.

As most of you know I signed and have assisted in signing some of our biggest prospects, not to mention the recommendations I had that we passed on due to MLB politics. Bat speed was huge with Stanton whom I liked better than most all players I had on my draft card for 07 along with many other players who are top prospects in other systems and some that will be in this years upcoming draft.

For the powers that be, understand how monumental this attribute is to this game. I would be more than happy to offer a professional evaluation of how to truly rate and grade bat speed.

Can you see if they have finally given us the abililty to steal bases with specific runners with multiple guys on base while using auto baserunning. For example, with runners on 1st and 3rd having the ability to only send the runner from 1st to 2nd while having the runner at 3rd stay put. Keep in mind this is only an issue for those of us that use Auto baserunning, but still want to control leadoffs and steals. When there are multi runners, you can't command each one seperately with baserunning set to auto.

Ted Williams, renowned as the greatest hitter to ever live preached about bat speed as the major key to hitting home runs and for power in putting the ball in play.

How they can translate that in the game surely would be interesting.

Not sure if this has been talked about yet, but I know in the ESPN article there is talk about stats being a bigger part in RTTS. I am just wondering if this is true with franchise as well. I sure hope so. I am sick of guys retiring at the end of the year after they just hit 25-30 home runs at AAA. Thanks, and have fun!

Yeah I see what your saying. The average for wild pitches and passed balls in the MLB last year for a team was 65.2 for the season. That's less then 1 every 2 games played.

And that is why I think it should be addressed and fixed or I will not be buying this years release.

One more thing knight, I know you and I have discussed this before, but see if there is a owner mood, where if you aren't meeting expectations you can be fired before your contract runs out.

Coaching - Can you fire your coach mid season? Can you see other teams' coaches after the first year? Can you try to hire another team's coach or assistant coaches? And is it possible for retired players to eventually be coaches?

Performance versus Attributes - Will performance finally matter versus attributes. This applies to free agency type classification, contract negotiations, trades, etc. Even better would be if attributes are hidden or a range. Perhaps a perceived value.

Progression and Training - Will stats have any effect on progression? Will there be a new system that rewards prospects higher progression if they stay in AAA rather than rushing them to the majors? How does training work? Will we be able to tailor training better to develop individual prospects? Along with that, is there a way to train a position player to switch positions or train a reliever to be a starter over time and vice versa rather than just editing?

Positions and Roles - Will there be any changes to primary and secondary positions? Any chance of removing the RP and CP roles that seems to cause problems in later years of franchise. Will there be stiffer penalties for playing a player out of position?

Dynamic stuff - Will there be any dynamic stuff for multiple years, such as announcers mentioning MVP winners or world series winners having something on the stadium for that year?

Very interesting stuff here. Going on your "performance vs attributes" point, I was a bit dissapointed with their arbitration process. It seemed as if the players were awarded for their attributes rather than their play on the field. I had a 2nd baseman awarded $6 million or so (dont fully remember) when he batted like .250 7 Bombs and 33 Ribbies. If you compared his stats to others around the league, no way he would have been awarded that money. Since his "overall" meter was high, he won out. I hope its strictly performance based this year.

An option Id love to see is the option to be the catcher and call the game in franchise mode. Since they added catcher to RTTS I enjoy being a catcher and calling a game more than I do being a pitcher when on defense. IMO it would take pitching attributes into consideration more and not my ability to throw darts at a strike zone.

I just think that it would add something in variety to not "have" to be the pitcher...maybe in years to come they could add a player lock system where we can play as different positions but they have enough added now to make the option at the start of the game to choose.

Yes...I will definitely check on all of these things.

I've spoken to them about the mid season firings. This was in before('08 maybe?)....and I'm not going to say "should be easy to put back in"...but it was there before, so I know it's possible.

I know they wanted to put the performance a bit more to the forefront in regards to call ups and such, I'll have to see if it extends to trades and contracts.
I would LOVE for it to be more heavily tied(the rating of a player) to your coaches and scouts(the better they are...the more accurate the ratings you see)....but that will be for another version. I guess the best way would be to put in a "switch" on the front end where you can choose to "see exact ratings"....or "see ratings as per scouts/coaches" type of thing. Best of both worlds.

I believe they want performance to play a larger part in progression. I'll definitely see if they were able to work it in.

I absolutely agree with contracts and arbitration. I really don't like that it's tied directly into ratings and not performance. I've never brought that up to them. I will.

Plenty of stuff to do in the 3 days there and I'll try and get it all in.(I will)

Hey night...do you think they could shorten the default MGR/GM contract to 3 years? It's usually about that deep into a Franchise, that I'd like to switch teams...and see what other people offer me?

I would love to be able to edit all the things in regards to front office.
A certain text sim has some awesome options in regards to this.(albeit a PC game probably has something to do with it)

Creating Legendary Players and manually transferring them using a PS3 & DVD is time consuming.
It doesn't look like "Easy Transfer" is easy and it doesn't look to likely to happen anytime soon.

So if you believe that the following idea has some merit please ask SCEA to consider "A Split Screen" System.

Split Screen:

The screen on the left would be used for any created player from any SCEA game from any year. This screen would be used as a guide.

The right screen would be used to recreate that player for the new game.

You would just scroll both screens side by side page by page.
This could make for a faster and more accurate and efficient proses.
