Re: MLB 11 The Show Community Day Discussion Thread - Questions, Answers etc.
I had a hunch to play baseball all of a sudden so I popped in MLB 10 The Show and headed straight for RTTS. This is where my question concerns. In '10, once the season was over, it takes like 5-7 minutes to progress through the off-season. Did you guys get a chance to make it that far in the game, and if so, does it still take that same amount of time to watch the game go to each individual day to simulate that day. None of it really has an effect on your RTTS character unless he is a free agent. Then usually within the first 7-10 days, you have a new contract offer. Thanks in advance if someone can answer this for me.Comment

I went in game to the cheers and jeers recording section. Then used a wireless mic and recorded the vendor sounds from pc. Have a ton from high heat etc on pc. They are in the sound packs.
Thankfully they are able to be mp3s this year and will make it much easier.
It was well worth the time and effort doing it thoughJoshua:

Anybody know if they added the red maple leaf to the Jays Jerseys this year. They have had them for the last 2 seasons yet they have never been in the game. They are on the sleves.Comment

With the pitcher, it's fairly easy enough to just hit the 'sim half inning' button if you just want to pitch. I do like the player lock on an offensive player idea though, that would be kind of cool if someone wanted to have a Road to the Show type feeling with a real already in the MLB player, as opposed to an up and comer.
That is definitely something that would be wortwhile to be added in the future!Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Community Day Discussion Thread - Questions, Answers etc.
This is a small thing, but I think it just adds to the realism.
One thing I've noticed with the past couple of games is the pitch callout feature. Since I like to retain as much realism as I can, I like to turn it off. However when I do this, it stops showing the pitch velocity on the on-screen scoreboard.
Now, you can always turn it on to "simple" to get the velocity, but then that adds the 'B' and 'K' markers in the strike-zone which certainly takes away the realism.
I'd like it if you could turn off the pitch callout and still get the velocity on the on-screen scoreboard since that's a pretty common feature during actual baseball games.
Anyone happen to know if that was fixed? (Not sure if it was really ever brought up)Comment

That was actually one of my questions.....Knight said that he asked about it and they said it's a bug causing the pitch speed to not display on the HUD but he was pretty sure that they didn't get to fix it because of time constraints but they're aware of it for next year
Once it's fixed THE SHOW will have even more broadcast authenticity !!Last edited by DodgerFanatic2K3; 02-07-2011, 11:15 PM.Comment

I hope for next year they add in the fans/player opinions on things like T.V. deal/Ticket prices/Locker room equipment
They use to have it in the old SCEA MLB games. I wonder why it was taken out?Comment

Unless it's a surprise, there has been no mention of that being added, no.

my last hope for this game:
Please oh god almighty do NOT let me or any other player in the league be called "meat" or any other form of deli item. Id love to just have a legit broadcast staff call a game as it would be on an TV showing. If not then next year get Bob Uecker to work the booth next year with his announce partner from the Major League series.Maple Leafs ][ Blue Jays ][ Raptors ][ Bears

Personally, I think it's very good. It is dynamic in that it addresses things as they happen (like a pitcher making two outs with two pitches, etc., a pitcher's pitch count being low.. A pitcher's tendencies with certain pitches, etc) ... It is also dynamic in that it addresses things that happened in previous games (a guy going 0 for 4 last game, a guy being a hot streak throughout a series etc) or things happening over several days (winning streaks, etc.)
Sure there might be some goofy sayings, but I've also found the commentary to be a good point of this game. Maybe I haven't played it enough to think it is stale or repetitive or maybe I haven't seen enough of the competition (I bought MLB 2k10 the same day I bought the Show, but only played 2k10 for about an hour total).
Anyway, I ask, what gives? Why is everyone so negative on the commentary? It is lightyears ahead of the commentary in other sports games, in my opinion, which is much more statis and less adaptive to what is going on in the game/series/season.Comment

GRAB SOME PINE, MEAT
But uh anyways, I have a random question that someone might be able to answer. Are there injuries when you use the Gamecast thing in franchise mode? I've always wanted to use that instead of simming but I had no idea if it was realistic or not.Blue Jays, Blackhawks, AuburnComment

Re: MLB 11 The Show Community Day Discussion Thread - Questions, Answers etc.
) is that the structure has been the same for several years, in that Matt gives the play by play line, and Dave or Rex followed it up with something. There wasn't really any cohesion between them. I think the CD guys were saying they've started to make inroads on dealing with this by bringing Karros on, so we'll see how it sounds this year. That's not going to be a 1 year project though.
Agree that the Show's situational commentary is second to none - no game does better at giving specific details of exactly who is involved in what type of play. I'd much rather have that than hear some story about player x game after game.Last edited by bcruise; 02-08-2011, 06:03 PM.Comment
