Then you clearly haven't been around The Show threads much. SCEA wants as realistic game as they can make.
They have a LOT more things to account for like graphics stadium realism etc...
The console games are more than just number crunching.

The Show's franchise mode is "watered down"? News to me....
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Although I only went thru one offseason in 10, I had fun doing so. Of course there were some head scratching trades and free agent signings, but it was fun. So if only they fixed the free agent and trade logic, which they did, that's enough for me. It will just make franchise mode even more fun. Sometimes doing too much doesn't equal total perfection, nothing is perfect. IMO franchise mode did not need a complete makeover but these 2 fixes are the key to a better franchise.

          Re: Any franchise mode news?

Yeah the other thing Russell said they tweaked in that Franchise thread was the team budgets which should make for a much tighter Franchise/GM mode where you can't go out and buy every FA in the offseason. If properly implemented, this will make a huge improvement in an already solid Franchise mode.

Yes it would be nice if the implement things like incentive-laden deals, 3 team trades, etc. but if they can just nail down trade/FA logic and budget, I'll be happy.

Since I have no hope for the Mets this season I will find out if the trade/free agents tweaks works better by march 9th when I sim 2011 :-)

That being said, I feel like others in this thread, franchise in 2010 is far from being a bad franchise model. The Show is as close to a perfect sports game as you can get.

For me, if the trade/free agent logic is fixed and when we can take our franchise on the road with NGP, I don't think I would need anything else for years. Although I will still buy this game every year.

The stats and layout are poor in franchise mode. Try looking at a players stat history. You get like 4 stats, and can't even tell what team he was on. There is no connection to history on this game.

Look at stats on NBA 2K11 and franchise mode and tell me MLB 10's franchise mode is adequate.

              It's not even close.

Baseball is crazy about stats, and this game gives you almost nothing in that regard.

taking a franchise on the road with NGP would be a cool addition.

All i want out of franny is a few things, some cosmetic, some under the hood.

Give me three team trades, BP before games, MLB Headlines, callups based on performance, a new overhaul to the menus and most importantly, an all new spring training mode with in franchise, adding position battles among CPU teams, camp invitees and u have Franchise bliss.

                      Re: Any franchise mode news?

Maybe I'm just being forgetful, but when was the last time a trade involved three teams in the MLB? That seems like something that only happens in the NBA.

I'm not saying I wouldn't mind seeing it. Just curious as to how often that actually happens?

I'm not even sure what else they could do with franchise. Some stat upgrades, a fresh presentation...

I prefer #'s as an overall rating compared to a bar. But that's not necessarily a franchise thing.

The one thing that Madden has done that I love and would be perfect for MLB, is having the players in rookie drafts come pre-determined. It kind of gave the players personality. Much better than the randomly generated 5'7" players we get now. Now, it takes away the guessing game for scouting, but I'll actually remember pre-determined rookies.

i almost forgot to add the main reason I am not super excited for 11 and its franny, but its what you mentioned.
STATS [in game and in franchise menus] AND OVERLAYS.
there were some improvements to it, but not enough IMO.

No 'Last 10 games', 'batter vs pitcher'., stats among others.

if splits and home/away were added, why not all of the stats u see on tv?
I also agree on player history.
the player card and newspaper HAVE to go.
                        HAVE to.

I always assumed that the improved trade logic covered both Franchise and RTTS, but they only seem to mention Franchise. Is trade logic improved in RTTS too? My guy once got traded something like 6 times in a month, including 4 times in 4 days.

Dang, then I guess we'll just not even play the season. Might as well just go ahead and hand over the division title already.

While the Phillies' starting pitching got better, their bullpen and lineup got worse.

Don't think my boys down in Atlanta are gonna roll over for you. It's gonna be a close race, all the way, as far as I can tell.

                                Re: Any franchise mode news?

Yeah we just aren't there yet. I don't know if its a technology thing or whos really responsible for the lack of franchise mode features we see in text sims. All it would take is just one solid year of devoting most of the resources to franchise mode and with the huge budget they have and huge programming team, I can't see why they couldn't get it up to ootps standard.

I personally could deal with average gameplay with a franchise mode with similiar features to ootp. I will say when this current gen of consoles came out I had huge expectations for sports console games. Mainly from a franchise mode standpoint. I feel like the franchise mode would actually be easier to code and perfect than gameplay. Gameplay has too many variables but a franchise mode is pretty stable and if done properly you will find it to provide a greater experience than gameplay.

Gameplay doesn't have the replay value atleast for me as a deep franchise mode would have. Not saying gameplay isn't important cause its what seperates console games from text sims. It's just a tough spot cause I know that small companies like ootp can never get a gameplay even close. And I understand that and accept that, but what do we say about gigantic companies like the one that creates the show. Whats there excuse?
