Nemesis...Can you explain that part more in detail with an example ??
There was one time in '10 I somehow got in the perfect runway position and triggered the most beautifully smooth and accurate throw animation to the plate on a tag up I have ever seen and I have never been able to duplicate it again
I would imagine if people can learn how to this "trick" regularly on fly balls there would be almost zero complaints about slow reacting off line throws :wink:Comment

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
Defensive swing would be a wrong way of looking at it. Your power goes down but your contact rating goes up. It is great for timely situational hitting to get the runner over by putting the ball in play on a grounder, sac fly or that clutch bloop base hit with a runner on third.
Yes you have a higher chance to foul off balls due to having a higher contact rating, but that is not it's primary intent.
If a normal swing used the player's actual power rating (100%), what percent would a contact swing use? And for that matter, what percent over 100% would a power swing use?
I realize you may not be able to answer that as it's an under the hood game mechanics type of question, but I was just curious since it's obvious you spent a lot of time talking to Brian at the event.
I had the same experience as you last year...could listen to him talk about how the game works all day...fascinating stuff.Comment

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
For the fifth time, have they improved the dives while fielding? Did they get rid of the diving flop? Rather than diving and sliding for a few feet, the fielder will just come to an abrupt halt and get back up.

Man...now I feel like a heel.
Eutaw;
42 will have to answer this if he sees it. I don't play much and never dive.
He...dives all the time.
I think it's the same though.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Thanks for clarifying that. I was under the impression that it was more of a defensive swing mechanic, something to use when you are down in the count to try and battle with the pitcher or extend an at bat. From what you are saying it seems like it will be best utilized with a runner on third with less than 2 outs to try and cash in a run, or with a runner on second to try and advance him to third.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
