- haha, its kind of embarrassing how little credit you are giving to Hanley's defense. While he may not be at the same level defensively as tulo or reyes, he is no slouch by any means... Ive seen him play on a regular basis for quite a while, he is one of the top three I would want playing short for my team. (As long as Dan Uggla is there to rip him a new one when he dogs a shallow fly ball). Your making it sould like Hanley is comparable to a cardboard cut-out of Alexei sitting out at short...

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
I actually watch the games I don't use numbers to judge for me. When I see Reyes playing defense I see an awesome defender. Alexei will never touch reyes in skill level and impacting the game like Reyes can.Jose Reyes' defense has been lacking of late.

He also lacks the power.
I'll agree with Tulo. I overlooked him.Comment

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
He is not saying that Alexei is better than those guys, he is saying Alexei is more well-rounded, which is true (except for Tulo). So Alexei, in my opinion, is the 2nd best all-around SS in baseball, and I'd still put him #3 overall behind Tulo and Hanley. This has got to be the biggest homer comment.
Sure Alexei has better defense than Hanley, but Hanley's speed power and batting average far outweighs whatever deficit his defense puts him in.
Tulo is better on both offense and defense.
Jose Reyes, when healthy, is better.
Jimmy Rollins is better.
Rafael Furcal is better.
etc.Comment

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
He had surgery in the AL and won cy young the following year....i dont think injuries can really be used as an excuse. I'm a Mets fan not like i hate Johan i love him. He just had an easier time in the Al is what im saying.Comment

His UZR last year was -10.2 while Alexei's was 10.8. Pretty close.- haha, its kind of embarrassing how little credit you are giving to Hanley's defense. Reyes is Way better then Alexei i cant see how hes #3. Normally i respect opinions when its close but this is not even close Reyes murders Alexei in how he impacts the game.Comment

Actually, it's quite accurate how right he is about Hanley's defense.- haha, its kind of embarrassing how little credit you are giving to Hanley's defense. Statiscally, Hanley was the 2nd WORST defensive SS in baseball, with only Jason Bartlett being worse. His UZR was -10.2. Compare that to Alexei who was the 2nd BEST defensive SS, and he had a +10.8. That's a massive difference. Last year, Hanley was average with a -0.2, but this year he was quite bad.Comment

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
We all know Hanley is a horrible defender. But his speed contact and power are all way better then alexeis. So their for Hanley takes 3 out of 4 in the all around catagory. Alexi is a horrible base stealer 13 steals with 8 caught stolen is trash. Then his average and power doesn't come close to hanleys. Theirfore Hanley is a better all around player.Actually, it's quite accurate how right he is about Hanley's defense.

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
Point taken, and you have to judge it per division I suppose.
Phillie's hitting is/was built like the Red Sox/Yankees, so he had to contend with a more more hitting division than the AL central.
But division per division, pitchers have a tad easier time with pitch counts, etc in the NL due to the pitcher hitting and on average a weaker bottom of the order NL.

If your trying to say Alexei is better then Reyes that is really biased of you.....Everyone knows he isn't. Look at Reyes's stats when he was healthy...Alexei doesn't touch him.Comment

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
- this is hilarious... dont get me wrong... I understand that Hanley in not in the top 15 defensively, but the offensive numbers the guys puts up forgives most if not all of his defensive miscues... which is inflated because of the parking lot those infielders play on. Anyway... I understand the love for your players... I mean I see McCann as the best all around catcher in the game so...Comment

Yeah i get your point, im just saying you cant knock off a whole point of the ERA that's alot...Point taken, and you have to judge it per division I suppose.
