I see what you're saying but you need to think about the left joystick when it comes to low/high pitches. The right joystick deals with left/right movement and timing/batspeed, not pitch height.

If you're still confused, think of the batter from an overhead view. Pulling back and pushing forward on the joystick every time makes sense because every swing, the batter (a) pulls the bat back and (b) pushes the bat forward.

Is the hitting from last year and years past Timing or Zone? And since when is O button "contact swing" and triangle bunt?

You receive points you can use to increase your stats. The gloves and equipments have always been editable.

As for actual money as in contracts, I don't think it matters.

I'm using full analog, I select to throw Tim Lincecum's fastball down and low. So I pull back and I hit the exact spot on the meter. Where does the ball end up? Letter high, right over the middle. If this was once every 3-5 pitches then okay w.e. However, this is happening every 3rd pitch and not just fastballs...When I try to throw my Change or Slider or sometimes Curve it hangs even though I tell him to throw it low.

AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG BECAUSE THIS HAS ALWAYS BOTHERED ME. The only way I knew to correct this in previous The Show games is by using the meter pitching but that's too easy as I NEVER walk anybody.
I found myself doing the same thing, which was quite frustrating at first but I found the cause:

I was Maxing out pitch effort every time. If you want a more accurately thrown pitch (3-2 count, 0-0 count), move the joystick upward at a slower rate. This will bring the MPHs down a little bit, but you'll hit your spots far more often.

Re: can you still use the R stick to tell your runners which base to go to?

I think your problem is that you're using the R stick. The L stick is what cues them up.

How is that possible? The Left stick has you choose where you want to pitch the ball, there's no way I could have missed that.

I botched my first double play opportunity... tried to pre-load the 2B's throw before my SS released the ball, then panicked and canceled my throw to 1B by jamming the stick multiple times. Haven't made the same mistake since.

Technically it is zone, but it was revamped so placement of the PCI matters more, especially as you up the difficulty level. Timing only is a similar experience to previous years; however the PCI is deactivated, so it is different in practice, if not necessarily results (again depending on difficulty).

Contact swing is new for '11 -- and I love it -- which pushed bunt to triangle. You can also use analog bunting even if you use zone or timing hitting.

With true zone yes, not with analog.

                        Thanks nem

In years past I never really used the left stick while hitting...so it seems "Timing" is the perfect hitting option for me

                        Thanks guys

And QB I am also glad they added "contact hitting" this year as the circle button...thats gonna help me score more runs this season for sure...no more men stranded on 3rd base

You still influence its location by your upward motion of moving the right stick towards the inner, middle or outer third of the plate based on pitch location. Ratings, timing, pitch type, location also go into determining its placement for high/ low purposes. The PCI still needs to move in order to make contact. Your timing is very crucial in this process though.

Do you have to stride before you hit? Because every time I don't, I end up bunting (pushing or holding the analog stick seems super subtle).
