I am doing better out fouling pitches off and avoiding the ridiculous swings at balls way out of the zone. Now I find myself getting frozen at pitches well in the zone. But I can feel the transformation progressing.
Yeah, my strikeouts have been more of the looking variety since I started following this advice. Another thing that helps is the analog controls because I can actually check my swing now which I could never do with buttons. I surprised myself with the 12 pitch walk because it was 2-2 forever, finally I got ball 3 and ball 4 came after a couple more fouled off pitches.

Are you guys using contact swing in these long battles...?

Or, in the 0-2, 1-2 counts only?...

Or...does it depend on the hitter?

Anytime I have 2 strikes on me I'm using contact swing otherwise I use normal unless I have a power hitter ahead in the count, then, and only then, I'll use the power swing.

Well, I just lost to the dreaded Dodgers 2-0. 2 hits, 2 walks and 10 strikeouts .

          More training...

MLB 10? I don't think I can go back to using the button controls at this point. I've fallen in love with analog. lol

I am committed, once and for all, to finally finishing a full season. I'm 94 games in and not stopping now.

I just finished a series with the Dodgers where I hit .167 for the three games. Uck. Uck. Uck.

I'm trying to stay focused on the advice on the threads and also learning to not use guess pitch. Really struggling to keep the pitch counts up, keep the strikeouts down, and earn a walk or two.

I consistently swing at the wrong pitches with 2 strikes. Some I foul off, some I miss entirely, others I hit but hit weakly. So frustrating. It really feels like I only get 2 strikes instead of 3 because once the pitcher has me at 2 strikes I am toast 95% of the time

I am curious about the advice regarding sliders. Is this still true of the slider isn't a pitcher's second best pitch? What should we look for as the "out" pitch of a particular pitcher doesn't have a slider at all?

              Let's keep this thread going...

But that doens't mean you should take 2-0, 3-2 or 3-0 EVERY time. Just look for a pitch you like and hit it hard if it's in that spot. If it's not: take. Worst case scenario is you've taken a strike you weren't looking for and you're still 2-1 or 3-1.
I'm having the same issue, what are you doing to make adjustments? I love this game but I'm bummed they messed with the diffilculty. I NEED HELP!!!

Second best pitch is totally dependent on the pitcher. I think it's usually whatever pitch is assigned to the circle button.

And you shouldn't play with guess pitch off. Instead set it to no feedback and only guess when you're ahead in the count. If you guess right it won't notify you in any way but you will get a boost to your swing, much like real baseball.

You get ahead in the count?

Seriously, I might need to go that route. Historically, I've only wanted to use guess pitch to avoid striking out. Probably a too cautious approach. More hits would equal more pitches and as we can see from the thread, good things come from there.

Another challenge I have is swinging at pitches I KNOW I don't want to swing at, but I do anyway. My brain says lay off but I end up swinging nonetheless. I fear I have trained my muscles to swing instead of hold up on the pitch. Not good and I'm not sure how to reverse it?

Thats why im loving this analog hitting because my reactions make my finger move but with the analog that reactionary move is just my stride. By the time I start my stride I can react with my head instead of my muscles. I would recommend striding on every single pitch, even if u know you're not gonna swing, it really helped with my timing. Just like real hitting, if you've ever been to a live game im sure you've seen the guy on deck striding with each pitch, trying to time the pitcher.

Interesting. I have the demo and will give that a go.

But I am finishing this season!!!

                          rookie batting question:

I tried rookie batting on the demo and it has the power swing (square), contact (circle) and X.

if we hit with X, and not power, will we still be able to hit home runs? in 5 games using the button controlled hitting I dont have any yet. i realize my timing is probably off, but figured i'd ask to make sure.

With X yes, you can hit homers, just not as commonly as you could with square. With circle I don't think homers are possible though but I don't know for sure.

I could hit homeruns on HOF last year using only the normal swing.

I've only used AS difficulty for the demo, so I'm not really sure that I can answer your question.

                              Sorry.

thank you. I like to work my way up on the demo and had lots of trouble with the analog control. had 8 games with it and didnt get the han g of it. will go back to it later
