Yup it skips a ton. Not really sure why.

Did anybody ever answer questions about length of songs, particularly pregame, wins and losses, and 7th inning stretch? I know it's been asked but I haven't seen an answer. Can songs play all the way until they are finished?

        yes to both questions.

Not sure why it takes longer to load and auto save. I turned auto save off and its cut down on the amount of time it takes to save.

OK RP analysis time (pt 1)

I looked at 10 teams randomly (as well as any outliers). Teams are New York, Toronto, Detroit, Texas, Seattle, Atlanta, Washington, Houston, Milwaukee and San Francisco.

          Games pitched
          New York: Soriano 73, Robertson 71, Feliciano 69, Marte 59, Rivera 58, Joba 46
          Toronto: Rauch 78, Carlson 71, Cordero 69, Francisco 62, Frasor 60, Camp 53, Dotel 47
          Detroit: Perry 58, Valverde 56, Zumaya 52, Benoit 48, Ni 44, Walker 39
          Texas: Feliz 73, O'Day 71, Rhodes 66, Oliver 66, Lowe 57, Colome 52
          Seattle: Miller 75, Kelley 69, League 68, Bautista 61, Aardsma 41, Cortes 35
          Atlanta: Sherill 82, Proctor 81, Linebrink 78, O'Flaherty 72, Moylan 69
          Washington: Clippard 80, Burnett 78, Coffey 77, Gorzelanny 54, Wang 47 (10 GS), Gaudin 46
Houston: Melancon 89 (league leader), Wright 86, Fulchino 84, Gervacio 70, Arias 65
          Milwaukee: Hawkins 77, Saito 76, Loe 74, Stetter 73, Axford 60
          San Francisco: Ramirez 85, Romo 83, Mota 75, Lopez 60, Wilson 57, Springer 55

Okay so we have some notes to make here

          Good!
          - League leader was 89, last year it was 92 (Feliciano).
          - Seems to be that pitchers in the NL have more games pitched than their AL counterparts. That also reflects in the stats from last year (30th in the NL was 67 GP, in the AL it was 61).

          Meh!
          - Teams MRP's still dominated the GP count, usually followed by setup guys, then closers, then long relievers. However, last year set up guys barely pitched so this is better.

          Bad!
          - Closers still only pitch in save situations or what is very close to one. The only outlier in the league was Feliz, but he also had 54 saves. However, the GP for closers is still accurate when compared to league statistics. As such, the problem is the overall save stat. 17 closers had 41+ saves, which is a testament to the fact that virtually all of them stayed healthy, but also that they pitch in virtually every single save situation since they are always well-rested. For example, the drop-off in saves from 14th to 15th in the AL is 22 to 6, and from 16th to 17th in the NL its 26 to 7.

As such, in a bit I will change all the CP's to RP and see how that works. Last year it spread out the saves a bit more so we'll see if that also adjusts how the AI uses their closers.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread

Hey guys, i was just wondering if anybody who has the full game can do me a favor and check if there is an option in exhibition mode to use manual fielding. I know that people have already said that assist is the same as manual fielding, but that is not correct. Last years game had three modes for fielding( manual, assist, and auto). I love having full control over my fielders. I played some more of the demo, and had a play where the computer took full control over my fielder, and it was left on assist, not auto. I love MLB The Show, but would hate for this option to have been taken out this year. Believe it or not, this is the only thing bugging me about the demo. I have the game pre ordered, but i don't know if i should pick it up or not. I know some of you might say that's a stupid reason to not pick up this game, but i don't know. I would appreciate it if someone would do this for me.

if you use analog fielding, do you use a button to dive/jump and the right stick for throwing or do you dive with the right stick as well? are there preloaded throws for DPs etc?

not sure, I don't use analog control.

Hopefully someone else can answer this question for you

the button for diving has always been R2, there is no option to dive/jump with the analog stick

and yes, you can preload for a DP

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread

So moving the CP to RP did pretty much exactly what I thought it would

                      1) GP overall stayed the same...league leader in the AL had 78, in the NL it was 87
                      2) Saves were slightly more spread out. Only 9 pitchers had 40+ saves. However, that didn't mean that player designated as the closer pitched more at all. Guys like Rivera were only throwing 45 IP, and the Jays closer Dotel only threw 31 since the Jays blew.

This pretty much only affects the sim engine I believe. As such you have to choose between realistic save numbers or teams using their best RP more. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's any ways to get closers to pitch in close/late situations that aren't for a save.

                        question about online play

Do any of you guys know if you are able to change the hitting to "timing" when you play online? I find the analog hitting to be very difficult.

How many is a bit high? If you're around 7 per 9, you're okay.
HOF full analog and I've struk out 15,12,12 & 13 with Volquez in the games i have played with him. Too many and too regular to be just a small sample size. These were all 7 innings or less.

Real problem for me is that in 2 of those games i got hit hard and gave up runs so the results were either a rocket for a hit/hr/k not much contact just putting the ball in play.

sure hope we can atleast switch to zone hitting. I have big hands and analog hitting jus feels uncomfortable to me.
