Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread

I've read over some of this thread. Just signed up here but I've played MLB 09 and MLB '10 pretty avidly. Bought MLB 11 the day it was released. When playing MLB 09 / 10 I always played on legend with pitching and hitting. I did really well with the PCI. My general strategy was to guess fastball most of the time and react to off speed pitches. I did REALLY well even when I guessed wrong most of the time (I was using default 1/4 for pitch guessing). However, on MLB 11 it seems like hitting has now become impossible. Everything I hit is always a weak ground ball or "just missed" foul ball. Even pitches that seem like I square up perfectly aren't going ANYWHERE. Not to mention if I guess a pitch and I'm wrong, hitting the pitch is nearly impossible.

Anyways I'm really struggling with hitting in MLB '11 after having so much success in previous versions. Did they just make it to where hitting is like 10x more difficult? For what its worth, I tried analog and had decent success, but i'm pretty bad at the whole timing thing. I kinda want to stick with PCI zone controls b/c I've used them for SO long, but if I cant even hit the ball then I might have to go to analog. Any tips or info on this would be much appreciated.

Basically what are the major changes to hitting when it comes to PCI Zone control b/c it seems entirely different.

hey guys i have more of a ps3 question but is definitely related to the show, since it's all i play on ps3. when i started playing the demo, my ps3 was being played on a 55 inch hdtv...everything looked great and clear and all. when i bought the game, and played it on my 32 inch hdtv in my room, things got a little blurry, some jaggy edges appeared yet i am using the same ps3, same settings, same hdmi cord. anybody have any suggestions? i'd really like help to optimize such a great game!

There are no minors in season mode. Just an inactive roster.

Anyone play with AUTO fielding (no RTTS modes) while controlling throw speed/accuracy? If so, please comment on the pros/cons when using this setting. I'm thinking this might be the way to go for fielding this year - I feel like the CPU gets to many more balls than I do and this would even us out.

What you can also do is if you don't want to deal with marketing/banking and all that other stuff you can just put them on auto.

I thought the show had in-game saves? If so, I can't find the option. If not, boo!

Just go to save and quit. It's there.

                            Regarding the Replay Vault--

Haven't past years been separated by innings? This year it's just all merged into one list. Kind of makes it a step harder to find a certain play quickly.

Also, I like how they allowed for the scrolling lists to "flip" back to the top in most all menus this year, but this isn't the case in the Replay Vault. So if you want to check a recent play, you have to scroll through the whole game to get to the bottom...annoying, and strange why that feature doesn't work in this menu.

Is it during certain points? Just got a batter out and went to quit and all I had was quit or restart option.

I just learned something about pitching by watching in game tutorial video on pitching.

Somebody watch it and tell me if you understand it like I do now.

You set your location with the left stick, which we already know

but, when you push UP on the right stick to throw, you aim to where you moved the icon with the left stick... Not straight up like I have been doing.

Yes? I mean, I never had an issue pitching but am I understanding the video correctly?
