Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
Lowering control as a first step is a bad idea...not saying NOT to do it, I'm just saying consistency is a better place to start.
Control has a direct influence on batting average. Unless you want that, wait on the control slider.
The CPU actually, in my experience, has a wonderfull strike percentage on Default levels this year. Where the issue for me is: hitters counts. Strikes are WAY up from last year.
I lowered consistency two clicks, leaving everything else on default, and my walk numbers are up. The reason being that balls in general miss by a wider margin, and those pitches on the black in hitters counts also have a larger likelihood to miss. All this WITHOUT influencing your team average or CPU strike percentages drastically. Both of which, to me, are good things, as CPU pitch philosophy won't have an aggressively noticeable change.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
Is anyone else having issues with the custom camera feature? When I edit the pitching cam for custom 1 camera it then makes my hitting camera the same. For example I will be pitching and then customize the camera to my liking and save it. Then when I am hitting it will show the same camera that I saved for pitching from behind the pitcher. Obviously I don't want to also hit from this view. I will then change the hitting camera back to my liking but when I go back to pitch my pitching camera will then be the same as my hitting camera. Hope this makes sense.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
I have seen some videos where the pitch speed actually shows up in the top info bar that has the score, inning, etc...
Is that something I can set up so i can see that in there? I have the Pitch Callout set to off, so to see the speed, I need to click the L3 button.
Is it something I can customize?

No minor league deals..you just sign them and send them down to the minors...and hope he doesn't get claimed. Only MLB deals.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
Unfortunately, you have to have pitch callout on at least "simple" in order to see the pitch speed in the score banner. I was hoping that it was made into separate settings (more so when pitching), since I like to play with everything off. If it was patched in, I would be very happy... until then, L3 it is.

I like the clean screen too.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
Actually it was that way in MLB 10 too. Some people complained though that it was hard to see the difference in colors. It definitely is not as clearly defined in 10 as it was in 09 but it was there.
Yes, it is also there in MLB 11. Though it is still lacking clear definition difference in coloring just as in MLB 10.
Is the color-coded pitch sequence something that could be patched? If so....could the developers consider fixing so it's back to the '09 look???
Thanks!!!Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
Yes...It will take time...but it absolutely can be done right out of the gate.
You would have to export all the different potential players you want...an A/B/C/D/F pitcher and the same for position players...
Now you would simply go into ROSTER MANAGEMENT on any roster(default it fine)...and go to each player that is real and import a pitcher over a pitcher and position player over position player.
You'll also have to move the FA's onto teams and do the same for them.
The caveat...you'd have to rename the guys you are importing and randomize them as you bring them in(so you don't keep seeing the same guy with the same ratings.
If you got a few guys together to create a bunch of fake players....and swapped/shared them with each other..it would cut the work down considerably and really make it random.
DEFINITELY could(and should! I love fictional leagues!...no pre-conceived notions!) be done.
Start a thread...just don't use and Create-A-Players(Jeter head and classic player morphing)...and I'm sure you'll get guys to upload fake players of all sorts.

I'd also like to know what you have in mind in terms of detail on each of the generated players. This might not be the right thread for discussion, but I'd be curious to know your recommendations. In the beginning of your post it sounded like you were suggesting just exporting one player per potential grade and then tweaking ratings and names upon import. The other suggestion toward the end of your post sounded a little more elaborate. For a collaborative project, would you suggest creating hundreds of players from scratch? Or would you still think in terms of creating "types" of players, just enough to scramble the league, so to speak?
Anyways, something worth considering.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
Playing road to the show and was loving it through the minors. I had all the settings at default for the computer. When they missed a pitch and most of the time it was left over the plate it seemed. Now, I'm in the bigs and when they miss it doesn't seem to be over the plate as much. What pitching sliders do I mess with so that it gets back to missing over the plate more?
I'm not looking to hit 100 home runs a year but in the minors I was getting hits of all kinds with a solid average. Now, I'm struggling more than I'd like and honestly all I want is to be able to kick back and relax. Not looking to make this as real as I possibly can.
Thanks for any and all helpComment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread
Played and loved The Show 09 and have 11 incoming......I was disappointed to see a lot of the faulty CPU Franchise "logic" seems to still be an issue.
While my problems with 09 were not deal-breakers - they were a bit annoying and I had hoped they would have been taken care of....
so anyways - I had another issue in 09' and was hoping someone would let me know if it is still an issue....
Have they fixed playoff rotations?
Does the CPU shorten their rotation or at least account for days off in 11'?
In 09' this was not the case and it almost felt like cheating when you had you're ace or #2 starting the LCS and the CPU had a #4 or 5 going.
Thanks in advance if anyone can answer this for me.Comment
