Ok, I am having a problem with RTTS in a very particular manner, the position player.

First off, I created a starting pitcher a la myself. He's doing terrific. For me, getting pitching points is akin to baby candy stealing. Average around 400 pts a game. Lots of complete games. A few shutouts as well. So he's doing terrific and is in AAA. He's gonna be in the majors soon.

Also, he's batting around .440 with quite a few RBIs for a pitcher in AAA. This is the crux of my problem, more to follow.

So my other player, Will Clark, a remade version of my baseball hero. Left handed, left throwing 1st baseman. Maxed left and right contact as well as left and right power right off the bat. Some fielding as well as far as I can remember. He is still in AA in his first season, I believe.

Now the issue is that I cannot remotely come close to generating the points in my position player as I can in my SP. He averages around 10-20 pts a game. He gets the majority of his points from put outs. He is a HORRIBLE batter. He swings at everything out of the strike zone and allows good pitches to go by (my frustration fueling a lot of this comment). He does have 3 hrs, is batting .263 with 27 RBIs in August of his first year. He's "starting" 1B, but only starts occasional games since his durability stinks. He's batting 3rd.

Now my first baseman should be hitting much better than my pitcher, but he certainly is not.

The only thing I can account it to is nerves. I stress out batting with my first baseman but am completely relaxed when batting with my pitcher because he has no pressure to hit, only pitch.

I have attempted to move the batting view from the default catcher to the outfield position as well as put the pitching on legend to ensure the ball goes to where the catcher sets up. No dice. Still stink and everything is set on rookie.

I am at my wits end in figuring out how to get my position player to actually earn points to get him out of this horrendous ditch he is in.

Any tips on getting more points for this guy, preferably outside of hitting, would be greatly appreciated.* Please know I am not gonna buy steroid points online.
Best thing to do is touch the sliders. I can't see the ball well at default pitch speed, so I moved Pitch Speed to 0. Your ratings are low when you first start, so move Timing, Contact, and Power to 6 until you start hitting. Your best friend the 1st year is the Sacrifice Bunt, you'll get 12-15 points if you move that runner up.If you're getting too many fly outs, reduce fielder speed to 2 or 3.

Not sure why you're not getting more than 20 points a game unless you sim games only( a bad idea). I don't think the Game AI uses Performance Evaluator if you sim. You should be getting 20-30 points on putouts alone. Avoid negative point losses like CS and getting thrown out at third.

Started a CP and got drafted by the cincinatti reds. Pitched one year for the AA Mudcats then got the call up to the Louisville Bats. In the offseason of my first year i got dealt to Philly, which i loved, but the trade email said my transition to their roster would be a rough one, the next day i got traded to KC and started the year at AAA Omaha Storm Chasers ( coolest AAA name IMO) and spent the whole 2012 season there. Finished with 57 saves amd a 0.67 era. Got the september call as middle relief. Now in my 3rd year im stuck as LRP and they traded Soria to Anaheim. JW, why the hell am i not closer? 60.2 IP, 0.72 ERA and 3-3 on save opps. really bugging me

Currently in my first year in AA, not doing really well. I'm 7-7 with a 4.42 ERA, 89K, 25BB but with 2 CG SHO. Still in Mid-August, want to make the push to the playoffs.

Also, does franchise glitch with FA's also happen in RTTS?

It does. It happens the first offseason, too, so save your RTTS before that point and consider waiting for the patch.

Yeah, I wasnt exaggerating when I said I really, really stink at it. Just finished another 0 pointer. Played 3 games today (I don't sim) and was able to train once.

Thank you so much for that info. I am implementing now to try it out.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I love a lot of things about RTTS (especially the new changes, and this is the first console arcade-style baseball game I've played that gets contracts / baseball business almost exactly right), but the durability thing is so incredibly annoying that it's almost a gamebreaker. I seriously spend my first half of a season just trying to make my guy not fall apart. And he's 18! I usually get that durability to max by the time the player is in his mid 20s, which is just insanely unrealistic (I just pretend my player is coming off of a major surgery as a high school junior).

Durability is the primary change I would make. It should not be trained. It should start at 100 at 18, and go down with injuries and age. I did a test where I decided to train only the suggested development goals, to develop exactly as the game wanted me to. I got to 90 contact pretty quickly (and boy, could I sure bunt!) and went on the 60-day disabled list 7 times in 6 years. It's just a total tragedy, and each time that "Fractured Wrist" message comes up, I almost put the game away for good.

A couple of other minor gripes:

Baserunning aggressiveness is still not a "skill", it's a choice, no matter what the game says. I could drag my butt onto a Major League team tomorrow and be 100% aggressive on the bases, and get thrown out every time. Baserunning ability, yes. Aggressiveness, no.

Training less valuable skills (like bunting and the aforementioned baserunning ability) should take far fewer points to max out than say, hitting for contact or power. That's just silly, and has never changed. Who starts with anything but a combination of contact, speed, and power? And well, durability, as mentioned.

What exactly does H/9 and K/9 mean in terms of a skill? Those are results, not abilities, and it's sillly because there's no context. Does a high H/9 pitcher induce a lot of groundballs? That would make sense, but should be called just that, as it's dependent on his defense. Does a K/9 guy paint the corner well and catch the batter looking or does he miss bats? These are poorly defined, and make no sense when combined with the other abilities. 100% control on all pitches could still have a 50 BB/9 rating ... how, exactly? One of those things has to be a lie, unless the BB/9 rating represents some sort of mental failing where the pitcher doesn't know to stick in the strike zone on 2 or 3 ball counts, I suppose.

Why does your pitcher freak out when his knuckleball doesn't stay in the zone? It's a knuckler, man, that's what they do.

Reading through that, you'd think I dislike the game ... I really don't. It's that I love the promise of this mode so much, and know with a few tweaks it could really soar.

I feel your pain. I once had a pre-game batting session in my first year where iIhit 6 dingers (which is more than what I had all season). Ended the game going 0-4, 2-pop ups, one screaming liner that hit the pitcher (and took him out of the game fortunately), and a weak grounder to pitcher.

Actually I think I might have not applied my slider settings properly.

I tweaked everything to help me out. 2nd to last game of the season I went 3 for 5 with 3 HR lol. Got picked up by AAA in the off season and am so far doing well. The sac bunt is great advice.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

Nothing more frustrating than applying valuable training points for my CF power hitter than on bunting and base running ability. Two things I never use anyways.

I thought that's what the pre-sliders were for in the very, very begging of the RTTS we for, to adjust training points objectives to match your style. I guess not.
I'd like to talk to you about a serious problem. Packs of wild dogs that have taken over most of the major cities.

Is anyone else having this problem.. I'm a career .330-.340 AVG is AA but When I go to AAA I stink it up. Right around .240-.250 range. It's really frustrating. also I'm a SS and my OVR is right around a D.

In my 3rd year, I guess it's just my timing but I find that strange.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

Figured I would finally post one of my road to the show facts or what not, since I've read most of this thread. I have a couple RTTS's started but this has been my main one so far so i'll tell my story of it to this point. I made a CF named Ernie Parker Jr. I wanted him to be a Ken Griffey type CF, hoping that eventually he would end up breaking the HR record like Griff should've.

Anyway, started off and got drafted by the Padres. Hit a HR in my 1st appearance in AA and never really looked back. After my 1st goal period, they bumped me up to AA starter. Mid-May, while tearing it up, I was traded to the Mariners and was their starting AA CF for the Jackson Generals. That season, Parker just dominated. Batted .427 w/ 15 HR's, 24 doubles, and lead AA with 9 triples. Scored 53 runs and drove in another 58. Stole 9 bases but got caught 13 times. Between the two clubs I played in 79 games. All in all, a good season.

2012 started off with me back in AA. After the 1st month, Parker got called up to AAA. The stint was short, despite a .333 BA and a couple of dingers, as it was just an injury replacement gig and he was sent back down after the injured player returned. Then, about a month after I was sent down, they traded me to the Rays organization. Ended up making the All-Star team as a starter. Played 54 games down in AA during the season before getting the call up to AAA to join the Durham Bulls (which was great for me because one of my favorite movies of all-time is Bull Durham.) AAA was a little rockier. Parker played 36 games in Durham batting .310 with 3 HRs, 14 doubles, and 31 RBI's. The AAA season ended with Durham in last place. The Rays then purchased my contract for the remainder of the season and I spent September in the Bigs at 19 years old. Only saw action in 4 games, getting 3 at bats and getting 1 hit. I felt good about being in Tampa, because I was already the 2nd best CF on the roster and I was getting close to overtaking the #1.

2013 - Signed a contract in the off-season to be the AAA starter, but after spring training, they kept me in Tampa. In the off-season, Tampa signed, not one, not two, but 3 CF's in front of me. Signing Cameron Maybin to a 5 year deal, Michael Bourn to a 1 year deal, and I can't remember who the other was. So now, instead of being 2/5 in the organization, i was 5/6 on the depth chart. In my 1st at bat of the season. Parker cranked a 3-run walk off HR. Great feeling btw!! I have this pic to show for it.

However, I struggled to meet my goals because of the sparse playing time and trying to adjust to the MLB pitching. I spent the entire season in a baseball purgatory of sorts. Couldnt gain a starting spot, but they wouldnt send me back down. Only saw action in 41 games. Then after the season, for some reason, I signed a 4 year deal with them. I think I did it knowing I couldn't get away for 6 years anyway, but whatev.

2014-2015 - Still battling for playing time. Got sent back to AAA once for one goal period and got recalled after I met my goals. Still struggling to achieve my goals because I can't get enough playing time to reach some of them. Suffered an injury in 2014 that landed me on the 60-day DL. Requested a trade every chance I've gotten but still can't get outta dodge. Counting down the days til that contract expires...

Sorry for the long read for anyone who actually read that. Saw everyone elses stories so I thought I'd share one of mine. Hopefully I'll be out of Tampa soon.

Man the Rays have no faith in you, yet they don't want anyone else to have you. I guess I should consider myself lucky... because I started out in the Brewers organization for Huntsville Stars (AA) and got called up to Nashville Sounds AAA before the Double All-Star Game. Made the Futures Game for Team USA and the PCL All-Star Team for the Triple A All-Star Game. Then right after the All-Star break I got traded from the Milwaukee system to the Kansas City system for Luke Hochevar and 2 minor leaguers. I guess Milwaukee wanted a major league ready arm for a playoff push but considering that I pitched one game for the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals AAA) and got called up I don't know why they didn't trust me to fill that starting spot.

I switched my settings from "Classic" to "Result Play" and witnessed some very awesome games... the most exciting were the last two against the Yankees... came out of the pen for 11 games and will get my first career start at home against the Boston Red Sox I believe.
