Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I don't think it can be stressed enough to put points into Durability AS SOON AS YOU CAN. The key to AA and AAA is to earn those points to fill out your player. I want to say that putting in around 100pts is enough to get you starting every game, should you earn the priveledge.

Also, if you're having trouble with Amy aspect of the game, visit My Sliders and fine-tune adjust your game to make things easier.

Now, all that being said. I want to restart my first baseman since he completely squandered his first season. However, I don't want to have to reconstruct my Will Clark face (takes a while).

Is there any way to take your already created character back to the beginning without having to recreate him?

Also should be said the above is for position players only. Could be for pithers, but don't know enough about the game yet to confirm.

I'm trying to create the ultimate Mickey Mantle esk player. I've stopped durability as soon as I become a starter (68). I than dump everything into hitting and having a power arm with decent speed and range.

I've done the "max" out player since 08 and it's gets boring. I'd like to see what I can accomplish with a player similar to the Mick or Griffey, missing lots of time on the DL.

I really wish they would out some caps in so that if you chose to make a Slasher style player you could get a cap of like 50 pwer and 85 contact with 99 speed, they could still leave something like 5 tool in there so you could choose to make a max 99 player. I left feedback 2 years in a row about it, hopefully others are doing so too.

So does durability have any effect on the manager naming you a starter or does it just increase the amount of games you can play?

I am pretty sure it is only the amount of games you can play in a row. My 2b with the Pad's is a 56 durability I think and he started right away, but can only play 3 or 4 in row before having to sit/pinch hit 1.

@ guy with reds logo. It also limits the chances of an injury. Usually though 65-70 is needed to play every day.

Anyone had the luck of asking for a trade and getting it? I'm in the Jays organization at there are two CF's ahead of me keeping me stuck at AAA for the past 2 1/2 seasons. I haven't even been called up yet, but I'm #1 in AAA. Understandable though considering they have two guys up are doing great. I need out of Toronto bad and we all know asking for a position change is out of the question.

I was traded once after I asked for it. I was refused 3 times after I interacted with the manager to trade me, but I was traded in the end to another team.

Why should there be a cap? Have some self control and don't train your player in that area.

What kind of swing mode are the majority of y'all playing with? I am using analog and am really struggeling. I am in my second season, going back and forth from AAA to AA but am in a sophomore slump. I'd like to continue to use analog mode but any tips or suggestions would be great, I am getting super frustrated.

I think he means a designed cap to choose from. Say you want a player to max out like Derrik Jeter or David Ortiz in their primes and decline the same way.

Basically just thinking of ways to add on to the game.

Yes, that is exactly what I was going for. I realize I can build any type of player I want currently, but I would like to have some templates to work with that would help me along the path of building different RTTS players and having different experiences when playing. Similar to NBA 2k11 where they have different player types like slashing SG, 3point specialist, athletic, etc...I really just want some templates to play with for variety. Maybe it is only me, but I think it would make me create more than 1 RTTS player each year and probably even spend money on points.

Same thing happened for me. Here are a couple links to other posts that helped me out. If you can hit with push button, you probably can't with analog because it's all about reading the pitch and understanding location.

I do a couple things. In push button, I always, always guess fastball because it's the hardest one to guess being the fastest pitch. I won't swing at a breaking ball if it doesn't go up out of the pitchers hand. If I see it breaking and it's gone up out of his hand, it should land in the zone. Finally, I stare at the pitchers hand. You can get a good indication of where the ball is going to end up by looking here rather than the batters box in front of you.

Once you pick up what type of pitch it's going to be (Fastball that you guessed, breaking ball by how it left the pitchers hand and location based on watching where the ball leaves the pitchers hand and direction it goes in) it's just timing. Also, don't try and pull the ball with the left stick, just time the pitch if you want to go opposite field and it depends on location anyways so it's not needed.

Check out the video I'm posting and watch the pitcher. Notice how if you watch his hand you can get a general sence of break and location? This is key to being a good hitter because no matter how good a pitcher is, you get this split second clue into what's coming and from there you only have to time it.

It's definitely a lot harder with a closer than with a starter or position player. I never bought points before, but I bought 2000 to get my players ratings to 50. My manager can't make me a closer, but I made the AA All-Star Game as a setup man.

Yep, I'm working on creating a Kenny Lofton/Deion Sanders CF as well as a Mickey Mantle/JR type OF. I just saved at year 3 and started adding points in different areas for said player. I'd love to see models like that. Vlad Guerro type RF or Ichiro type RF. Dustin Pedroia type 2B or Chase Utley 2B. I've already made the suggestion to Sony this year, maybe you want to do the same in the "additional comment" section this forum has set up for us. The Show is great at taking our requests seriously.
