Re: RTTS Pitcher: Hot and Cold Zone question

Try L2 or R2, can't remember which and move the right stick I think....not that I am being very vague with my advice, but I think that let's you look around. It should also be in the controls menu.

Re: RTTS Pitcher: Hot and Cold Zone question

I started my RTTS back up with my CF in the Orioles organization since the patch came out. I just finished up spring training in 2013 where I have now been named the starting CF for the Orioles. The other CF on the team has slightly better attributes than me, but they put him in the DH spot. In the first game of the year I led the season off in the lead-off spot. Time to get addicted to this mode again after the long layoff waiting for the patch before I started the 2013 season

I'll look in the controls menu - duh! - but tried moving both sticks and no luck. Thanks.

Started 57 of 86 games so far
Made the All Start Team and won HR Derby
          Hitting .378 29hrs 81 RBIs SLG .997 31 DBLs 8 Tipples (Giants 1B).
Not sure if I need to make it harder or it's because I'm a switch hitter @ at&t park. I only put points and RH CT and LH Power till they hit 99.

Well, if you are looking for realism, you need to make it harder. I am in my 3rd season, and I am the starting 3B at AAA and hitting about .280-.290 with a .340 to .350 OBP and about 10 HR/year. I'm slugging about .450-.460 this year.

My hitting ratings are at 70 for contact and 52 for power. Vision is at 60 and discipline at 63.

You should not be hitting .330+ in the majors unless your contact rating is close to 99, otherwise you need to up the difficulty. In MLB 09, I got my contact and power maxed to 99 for two seasons, and I hit .363 with 40 HR and 130 RBI one season, and the next I hit .310 with 35HR and 110 RBI.

Again, this is only if you are going for realism, if you like to play the game where you just rip it apart, to each his own.

I play on All-Star with analog hitting.

For whatever reason I own Roy Halladay. Anyone else notice this against Halladay or another pitcher?

Re: RTTS Pitcher: Hot and Cold Zone question

The most fun rtts i have, is the one that i create exactly to my real life attributes. so i created a switch hitting 3B with more contact than power, speed over solid, arm over glove cuz i was never a great defender but i still have a cannon. 6'0" 180 lbs and got drafted by the stros. right away i was the 2 nd best prospect in the organization behind Chris Johnson ( they moved matt downs to 2nd) i made triple A like a week in becuz jason castro tore his hammy and downs got brougt up. i did ok, then my second year, i really slumped at times. finished with a .298 ba . then my second offseason they traded for Dayan Viciedo who is a legit A potential. then they ship me to cleveland for jason nix and fausto carmona (i must be highly regarded) i got and invite to spring training and batted .356 all simming. made the Indians in my 3 rd yr As a utility guy (which i really like) then in my first game i come off the bench and hit a PH grandslam off Felix Hernandez to give us. 6-5 lead in the 8th. player of the game by first game! and now i havent hit an HR since but im still batting .309. i think i like playin for the tribe! (btw the best batting stance, Brandon Phillips IMO)

I'm currently the Starting 2B of the Toledo Mudhens in May of 2012.

                I'm hitting .310 with 3 HR's and 22 RBI's.

                  Thanks.
I don't think it is enabled for the pitcher. When you are base-running, it's L2 to look around and when you are batting, it is the R3 (pressing in on right stick) to go into 1st person mode. I guess you can try R3 in pitcher mode.

The other thing is that the catcher is calling for location. If you pitch to that, you should be pitching to the defense (at least, as well as the game is going to adjust for that at all). I think even if you shake them off by going with a different pitch and location, they will still adjust a bit. Of course, if you miss your location badly, all bets are off.

On your other question, about seeing hot zones/location, I have no idea, I haven't looked for that yet. I did use it a lot in MVP though, so I might see about figuring it out.

Also try running on the catcher movement....when he sets up to take a pitch thats when I used to run in last years game...that way I never got fooled by the pitcher. And always lean then hold the stick left so if he does throw over you automatically go back to the base. These tips might not work for you but they have for me.
Thanks for the thoughts. On the lean, you're saying if I'm holding the lean on one button and the stick back to the bag, and let go of the lean, I'll dive back? Good to know, I'll have to try that.

I think I'm too tired today to play any tonight, but I'll definitely try your advice in the next day or so.

I finished the first season as starting SS for the Louisville Bats.I got about all my ratings to 50 the first year, except Bunt skills, BRA and BRAg. Bats lost a close one in the AAA championship. I was surprised a bit by the offseason moves.

Reds signed Brandon Phillips to a 7 year deal, pretty good for a 30 year old. They also signed Cordero to a 4 year deal. Stubbs signed a 5 year, 12 million dollar(overall, not per year) deal the last day before contract renewal. I signed to a 1 year 200K deal in the offseason. I'm starting the 2nd year as starting SS in AAA.

                        Pitcher A:
                        1.75 ERA (1st)
                        6 CG (1st-T)
                        5 SHO (1st-T)
                        33/33 QS
                        252.1 IP (1st)
                        180 H
                        12 HR (1st-T)
                        29 BB (1st)
                        214 SO (3rd)
                        0.83 WHIP (1st)
                        RHH .179
                        LHH .227

                        Pitcher B:
                        2.95 ERA (7th)
                        5 CG (3rd)
                        2 SHO (7th-T)
                        22/33 QS
                        226 IP (2nd)
                        204 H
                        29 HR (46th-T)
                        90 BB (50th)
                        174 SO (13th)
                        1.30 WHIP (13th)
                        RHH .238
                        LHH .243

How on earth would Pitcher B win the Cy Young over Pitcher A? Because Pitcher B was 19-2, while Pitcher A (me, of course) was 18-4. That is some unbelievable logic. Not even the BBWAA are that stupid.

I turned off the catcher calling the pitches. I thought that was the most realistic approach and always let them call them, but then I discovered that I was doing MUCH better immediately when I turned that off and made my own decisions on what to throw. Also a nice feeling to outsmart the batter.

The hot and cold zones thing is driving me crazy. Cannot figure it out, and haven;t heard from other RTTS pitchers as to whether it is working for them or not.

Man, I was in a slump to end all slumps to start the 2nd season. I finally put all hitting sliders at 10 and pitching at 0 to break out of it. I'm starting to come out of it a bit, but I've got some pretty difficult hitting advancement goals to meet. It's not just me, everyone on my team is struggling to hit. Pitching is really dominant the second year at AAA.

Well, I'm doing pretty well with the catcher calling the pitches, so I've left it on. I'll certainly shake him off on obvious bad ideas, like a changeup in a bad spot, or a high curveball, but in general, I've done pretty well with pitching to what they call.

I'll look for that hot/cold thing this weekend, probably won't have time before then, maybe we can figure it out.
