Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I started the 2013 season off with a broken finger and a stint on the 60 day DL. I came back in early June and had to work myself off the bench back into the starting lineup. I've got over a year of service tiime now, but will probably miss the All-star Game because of the injury. Status has changed from Rookie to Pro, so I moved difficulty from Rookie to Veteran.

But the way it SHOULD work, as far as I can tell, is that you can see red and blue squares in that batting grid that represent the current batter's hot and cold zones. The stronger the color, the more hot or cold. But I see nothing in those zones, and have not seen anything in those zones over 3 seasons as a starting pitcher.

Do any of you RTTS pitchers see the hot and cold zones in the strike zone grid as the batter is standing there???
If you have on the from the pitcher you won't see it the view must be from the catcher

Well that is pretty worthless if you're a pitcher.

Finally started my RTTS. I'm a second baseman for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Royals AA). Here's a clip of my first game: bloop single down the line, RBI sac fly, and helping to turn the game-clinching double play in the ninth.

Also got my walkup music in there. I've got Limelight by Rush, No Rain by Blind Melon and Boys Don't Cry by the Cure. I love Sounds of the Show!

I'm in my 3 year as the starting pitcher in the MLB and I'm starting to get bored cuz there is nothing else for me to earn. I'm still going to play it butI think once you get to the majors there's not enough to play for once your the best player on your team.. they should make it where you get trophys and endorsements to make its a lot better and more fun... what do yall think?

Hey someone else on the Mud Hens. =P Although I'm not there on my own accord; was traded by the Phillies right after the All-Star Break last season (my first).

I got through my first offseason, disappointed to see I had no opportunities to improve my skills at all. That seems like a waste. Why aren't there any events during the offseason, maybe even Winter ball?

Well I only got one offer, and that was from the Tigers. Not sure if this was because I'm still limited in my opportunities--cannot be a free agent until four years of service. I negotiated a bit and got them up from their original offer of 323k to 350k as a starting 3B.

So far only three games in to the 2012 season I'm hitting pretty well. I went through a power slump last year where for over a month I didn't hit a longball, but this year through three I've smacked two longballs with six RBIs.

midway through July, i'm back in the lineup and i'm able to extend the streak to 25 games when suddenly i'm traded with Joey Devine to Tampa Bay for James Shields and some other guy! i was able to save before the trade and i keep restarting at that point but i'm always being traded to the Rays for some reason. i think it sucks because even if i get to the bigs i'm blocked by Evan Longoria and will have to try to get playing time at SS or 2B.

hit streak is now up to 27 games, btw.
Same thing happened to me with Milwaukee... I was advancing through their system rather quick as a Starting Pitcher and they were contending for the NL Central and Wild Card at the time but then I found myself traded to Kansas City and figured I could do on with me on Milwaukee and another with me on KC but eventually decided to do the KC one because no matter how many times I loaded the Milwaukee one I'd get dealt to KC in the same exact trade... I'm hoping I can stay at the MLB level and in the starting rotation for year 2 because they have some decent talent... got traded for Luke Hochevar and 2 minor leaguers (started the RTTS before the OS Full Minors roster was released)

I was called up to the show last night by the Detriot Tigers. I'm currently in July of 2012. In my first game as a Major League player I went 1 for 4 with an RBI. That RBI tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the 9th, and we eventually won 3-2.

I've only had 2 starts in about 2 weeks at the MLB level. I've been used a as a pinch hitter for the most part. I'm hitting .200 with 0 HR and 1 RBI.

Also try running on the catcher movement....when he sets up to take a pitch thats when I used to run in last years game...that way I never got fooled by the pitcher.
I started going on the catcher movement, and it has made a huge difference. In my first season as a SS w/ speed in 70's baserunning ability around 50, I stole 8 bases but was caught 9 times (was in AA).
Second season, now in AAA, started using this tactic. First game of the year, stole 2 bases, but broke a foot during my second steal and was put on 60 day DL. I kept running when I came back, and now have 10 stolen bases (picked off once at first) at the all star break.
                      Great tip!

I finished up the third season of RTTS as starting SS for the Reds.We made it to NLCS,but lost to eventual World Series winners Colorado Rockies. My character has a B overall and Cs for speed, power, contact, and fielding(70 for all).Votto entered FA and was signed by the Cubs to a 1 yr 10 million deal.

The Reds offered me a 5 year, 22 million deal. I countered with 2 years, 9 million, then 2 yrs with a player option. We finally settled on 3 years, 13.55 million, which will buy out both remaining contract renewal years and 1 year of arbitration(maybe 2). A lot better than getting the minimum.

After years and years of never even venturing into the RTTS mode, last night I bucked the trend and went ahead and created myself as a starting pitcher... And it was more fun than I thought!

I've been a Franchise guy in my video game history, so the RTTS offers another dimension for me. I like how I can just play the games that I'm involved in. I was starting to get a little bored with the game, I think this gives it a shot in the arm for me.

Anyway, I'm a starting pitcher with heavy emphasis on being overpowering with good movement and break on my off speed pitches. I got drafted into the Dodgers organization where I'm with their AA club. So far thru 2 games I'm at:

                            2 Innings Pitched
                            2 Hits
                            0 Earned Runs
                            0 Walks
                            2 K's

So no matter what you have got to meet those advancement goals. I slacked off a little at end of last year only met 2/4 goals and was warned. I got off to a rough spring 2/4 goals again and was benched! An A overall, benched! The manager set pretty low standards, so I was made starter next time around.

The thing that gets me is the manager goals. I can meet attribute goals easily enough but the manager has a very high benchmark. The higher your overall the higher the expectations. 38 total bases in a 2 week period. I hope I don't get 2 /4 again.

Any tips on baserunning training? I've got baserunning ability and speed at 70 and yet I still get bad jumps and get thrown out in training. Is it baserunning aggressiveness? I've got it at 37, so if that has an impact I'll put points into it.
