I agree that this is the reason. I've had pretty much the exact same thing happen to my RTTS SS. My stats are some of the best on the team(Royals AAA) but my ratings aren't as high yet. I'm normally put at 6th or 7th in the lineup. I asked to be moved up and get put at 3rd or 5th for a couple games, then I'll be back at 6th/7th even if I hit really well at 3rd/5th.

What are your ratings like? They base their decisions more off of your ratings than they do your statistics. For instance, my CP guy is dominating half way through his 1st year, 0.75 ERA, averaging 3 Ks per 2 IP, WHIP well under 1, but his ratings are just about the worst on his team. The current closer has lousy statistics, but his ratings are better than me in BB/9, H/9, and HR/9, I'm better at clutch and about the same in stamina - no idea what his pitch ratings are. If your overall rating isn't better than the guy you want to replace, it isn't going to happen, no matter how good your stats are.
And you have to raise ALL your ratings, not just your contact/power. If you're neglecting your fielding ratings, that will bite you.
That's my guess as to what's happening to you. I built my SS/2B as a speedy contact guy, and while his ratings were not as high as I hoped they might start at, he's been the leadoff guy the whole season (halfway through his 1st year in AA). That's even when he was batting under .200, he's now up to .250 or so. And has 1 SB and like 15 CS (I suck at stealing, evidently, but also need to raise his base-running ability too).
e. Finally got my league lead in AVG back at .327. Third in All-Star votes thoughLast edited by ILiveForThis; 05-13-2011, 05:51 PM.Brewers | Golden Eagles | Packers | Bucks | Badgers | Fulham FC

Why is the Earned run system in RTTS so off?
I.e runner on first, no outs, ball hit to third, he throws an error and it's runners on the corners. Next at bat is a double play, run scores. But I am somehow charged with an earned run? Does not make sense
I've had a couple other instancesLast edited by Kevin_D; 05-13-2011, 08:05 PM.Comment

Your best single game performance in RTTS
My best was a couple games after I got sent back down to AAA, for some reason a .328 avg, 3HR, 9 RBI isnt good enough for a bench rookie.
In the first inning I hit a two run HR to right centre
Followed that up in the fourth with a two run double
Then in the 8th I hit my very first Grand Slam over the left field wall(opposite field)
In total I went 3/4 with 2 HR, 8 RBI, and got 136 training points!!!

Re: Why is the Earned run system in RTTS so off?
If it's one out and then someone grounds into a double play there shouldn't be a run scored at all. If that's the case, that's really weird. I've never seen that happen.
If the guy on first comes around to score after the error I think it does count toward your era cause he was an earned run. But if the guy that got on first comes around to score it would be an unearned run. I think that's how it goes.
Maybe I'm wrong.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I'm not sure if I should be excited or disappointed. Making a strong run for the AA Batting Title, I get called up as the 2B for the AAA Pawtucket team gets hurt and is out for one-two months. I was leading with a .331 average but now get the chance to move farther up in the organization.
Got all my goals done but am still a AAA Bench player, atm. Kind of upsetting but oh well!Brewers | Golden Eagles | Packers | Bucks | Badgers | Fulham FC

Re: Why is the Earned run system in RTTS so off?
It's not just in RTTS. It's in all modes.
Error problems I've run into, not counting the ball four in the dirt phantom error:
- Runs scoring as a direct result of an error (rather than a runner who reached on an error scoring on a subsequent batter) are being counted as earned.
- Things that should not be errors are being counted as errors. (Example: A throw on a non-force play that was slightly wide but didn't get by the receiving fielder or result in an extra base.)
- Things that should be errors aren't being counted as errors. (Example: A fielder setting up to field a routine grounder off to the side of his body but whiffing on it isn't being counted as an error.)
- Phantom errors. (For instance, on a foul grounder up the first base line the catcher was charged with an error for no reason I could see at all.)
The error system is in dire need of an overhaul.Impact de Montréal

If a hitter gets on base legitimately, but advances due to an error, he's an unearned run if he scores on anything but a HR or triple, regardless of the situation, so long as the active pitcher has not been changed.
Very much agreed.Last edited by Bobhead; 05-13-2011, 07:53 PM.Comment

But I done my share of scorekeeping in the past and that's always been a unearned runComment

Road To The Show Issue
Is anyone experiencing lack of contract offers in RTTS after you complete six years?Comment

Re: Road To The Show Issue
I've only played 4 years in RTTS, but I can tell you why it's happening. Teams just wait too long to offer their players LTC. I've seen the game AI offer everyone arbitration, and teams go through their budgets really quickly. This last offseason I saw the Dodgers sign Votto to a 1 yr 3.4 million dollar deal, probably because no one would pay 12 million.Mike Leake got 9.1 million and Travis Wood 6. I'm fortunate in that I'm on a 3 year, 4.5 million/yr deal, but I expect the same thing to happen to me after my contract is up.Comment

RTTS Level 5
Anyone else having trouble reaching level 5 for the pitch location training? I've tried everything(even on beginner mode), my guy has 80+ in all pitching categories(90 in some too) but when I play the location one where I need to hit all targets with all my 3 pitches in 15 attempts, I can't seem to do it, I've tried at least 10 diff times!
It sucks cause I'm not adding another pitch to my pitcher until I do this cause I dont want an extra pitch to be used in this training.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I have a question for you guys. Have any of you noticed that the more your RTTS player plays, the more ineffective he becomes?
I say this because I've noticed that the first two weeks of the season and the first two weeks after the All-Star break, my player tears the cover off the ball, hitting tons of XBH. Every other time, though, he hits weak grounders or line drives right at dudes. It's frustrating, especially since I have the same approach at the plate when I'm hitting .200 that I do when I'm hitting .400 (patience and, when in a hitter's count, see ball crush ball).
Currently, I am a 2B with the Astros, in my second season. My AVG has been hovering around .200 yet my manager has penciled me in for every game! I think that this is causing my player to be exhausted. He's fouling off pitches that he'd normally be crushing into the gaps and missing pitches that he'd normally make contact on. I'm the highest rated 2B in baseball, so I shouldn't be hitting around the Mendoza Line.
My thought is that my durability rating effects this. When this current season started, it was in the 70s, now, every chance I get, I increase it before any other attributes (contact is in the 80s, as is plate vision). Every time I increase durability by one full point, my guy rakes for like one, maybe two games, then goes back to hitting like a sissy. My durability is currently at an 88, but I don't think I'll see results until next year since my guy has already played so many games.
Anyone else noticing this??? Is my manager running me into the ground??? Please tell me I'm not going insane.Comment
