You'd have to have 30 team control in RTTS like you do in franchise to override or veto bad trades. A more realistic approach might be the ability to change players on trade block.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I love this mode... I'm addicted.
I've got two problem, both are probably self-inflicted...
1) I have to check my sliders but I strike out... a lot. Like about as much as I hit. I have zero discipline. I'll admit it. I think my pitch speed is at a max and I think I would feel like a cheat lowering it. I'm hitting on All-Star. I tried Legend for a spell and went nearly 0 for Spring so I ratcheted it back. I hope to get up to HofF next season. I've also tried to hold off on swinging for the first pitch, but that leads to either being up 1-0 or down early and missing chance to blast one. It's not a great, 100% practice. Especially if you know what kind of pitcher you're facing. My hitting history vs. certain pitchers actually gives you a pretty strong model for their style... for example -
A) Hitting vs. Pitcher A - 10 AB - 2 H - 1 HR - 6 SO
B) Hitting vs. Pitcher B - 10 AB - 7H - 4 HR - 0 SO
C) Hitting vs. Pitcher C - 10 AB - 1H - 0HR - 7 SO
These are typical lines I'll see... some pitchers own me and I own some pitchers. It's easy to tell though now when I see a pitcher B line that he's probably going to 1) start me off with an over-the-plate strike 2) throw more strikes than balls... and pitcher A is 1) probably going to start the AB with a ball and throw mostly balls 2) when he does throw a strike it's typically fat, center.
Pitcher C is all over the place. Probably throws a ton of balls which I chase and then when I commit to not swing he grooves one down the middle.
The other major problem I have...
2) I keep running through green lights. I was the NL Playoffs MVP enroute to a World Series win with the Padres my first full year up. The following season, after I have improved my speed and base running ability, I started stealing... a lot. I was about 60%... then I had my green light pulled. Fine. I stopped running. But I ran when a catcher missed one in the dirt and he picked it up and gunned me out. I was benched and then nearly immediately trade to the Red Sox... who in turn went to the World Series and lost to the Cubs, being completely letdown by pitching and me (.257 post-season avg, 2 HR's, 8 RBI's after countless opportunities). the following season, thinking that the green light had reset itself on a new team? I began running again and finally got caught. BAM! On the bench and for real this time. In the last two weeks I've played one game and PH'ed once. I just pasted a goals period and passed them all, but I'm still on the bench.
Anyone know when/if the manager green light resets itself? Looks like it's not after a trade.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
This is such a basic question that I can't find an answer because the search terms are too general.
Is there a way in RTTS to turn off phony trades of other players?
I don't care how many times or to whom I'm traded (unless I land with the Astros). But, I would like to play on and against teams made up of players who are currently or recently on those teams. For example, it's just weird seeing Votto and Soriano on the Giants and the Padres made up mostly of what appear to be computer-generated players.
Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I'm a Padres fan so don't shoot me.Comment

The next season I stole 2 bases early, but had my priviledges revoked when I got caught 4 times consecutively. I had managed to work my speed up to 60 and my BR ABL to 55 and I was granted thea bility to steal. I haven't gotten warned since as I went 15 SB and 18 CS I think in my second season. I think once you get your speed up to the 60's and BR ABL up to close to 60, you're good to go to call your own shots on the basepaths (when the 3rd base coach starts giving you signs to steal 2nd, it seems like you won't be warned anymore).Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Check your messages. You'll have the green light if you don't see any "No More Green Light" messages in your inbox for the season. If you do have one of those, your manager will send your "Green Light Returned" or so message. The best indicator in my opinion is if you have your speed and BR ABL high enough that occasionally when you get on base your third base coach will give you the sign to steal. I'm glad this year you have the choice to steal or not and not be penalized if you ignore the steal sign because you picked up on the guy having a pretty fast delivery or they keep calling pitch outs and fastballs.Comment

I guess I should keep all the messages...Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
sadly it is your fate to be a "Father"... the same thing happened to me in my first year of my RTTS... I was drafted by the Brewers and found myself promoted from the Huntsville Stars (AA) to the Nashville Sounds (AAA) before the Double A all star break and was keeping tabs on how Milwaukee was doing and they were right in the thick of things so I figured great at this rate of promotion I'll be in a rotation with Greinke, and Gallardo but then I noticed I was on the trade block and just after the MLB All-Star Game I found myself traded to the Royals organization for Luke Hochevar as the Brewers needed another arm for the playoff push (team strategy was still normal I believe as this was pre-patch) they also got two minor leaguers for me and I was now an Omaha Storm Chaser in Triple A with the Royals... I kept the Brewers RTTS file and everytime I advanced the trade happened as I was hoping it wouldn't so I could decide if I was better to stay with Milwaukee system or move on to KC and the choice was pretty much made for me when the same exact trade would happen... long story short the Brewers have trailed off and don't look to be playoff bound in September while I made one start right after the All-Star break with the Storm Chasers before the Royals called me up and put me to work out of the bullpen... after 11 appearances I found myself in the starting rotation after talking to the manager about it and never left the rotation... currently 4-0 in Sept with a sub 1.00 ERA in September but I'm walking more batters post patch and the comp is starting to make it difficult on me as I was taken yard by Choo against Cleveland... I don't know if I'll request a trade or not to leave KC as I actually like the team but I guess I'll wait to see if I'm placed on the trade block before making that decision...
The only course of action I can think to take is to see if you can turn trades off before starting a new RTTS... I don't think thats an option though unfortunately... with the patch though you might be able to stay with the Yankees on another play through... or you can choose another team and see if the Yankees deal for you
I guess in hindsight the trades of your prospect in RTTS is realistic though seeing as A LOT of major league stars find themselves dealt by the team that drafted them before eventually making The Show themselves
eh hmm...well i started it around launch is there a reason to restart because of patching changes?Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I'm in an interesting situation myself.
My RTTS player is a speedy CF with decent to good power (think a RH Grady Sizemore type). I was drafted by the Reds, and traded right at the deadline to the Orioles. Despite having put up monster numbers at all my stops to this point, the Orioles traded me to the Indians around the halfway point of my second season. Finished the year out strong, batting .326 in AA and .315 in about 150 or so ABs in AAA Columbus. I'm now in my 3rd season, still with the Indians, and started the season as the starting CF in AAA. What's odd is, even though my ratings are getting better and better, my stats have been MUCH worse so far this year than in any years past (.229 through about 85 games). It's been a weird season so far... SO MANY balls that I just crush, or line really hard right at someone, etc. I still get "Good" ABs quite a bit, but they're just producing a lot of outs this year.
Anyway, I've been hitting most of my goals, and at the end of the last evaluation period, the email said that I'd shown them enough that they think I belong in the Majors (How? By batting .229 in AAA??), but there isn't room on the 40 man roster. So, it looks like, at this point, they don't have much intention to trade me. The reason it's a bit of an interesting situation for me is because I'm a big Indians fan, and therefore use them in my franchise. I was kind of hoping to be playing on a different team in RTTS, just for some variety. My thought was "Well, when I hit free agency I can always just go somewhere else." Then the Cleveland fan in me said "What, and be like all the other guys that just leave the Tribe for more money??"
So, it'll be interesting to see what happens. Oddly enough, I'm kind of hoping to get traded, so I can have that "other team" variety and am not using the Indians in both RTTS and Franchise, while not leaving the team of my own accord.
yeah thats true i use yanks in franchise...never thought of it that way a little change of things haha
I got to say I think its a great thing you cant get past it, do players in real life have a choice? no so why should you.
Im stuck in the Padres organization and I know I dont want to be there but if I get traded to lets say the Pirates, so be it.
Cant always be on the best teams right away, and if you have a personal dislike or hate for a team IE the Yankees or in my case a place where the ballpark isnt good for hitters in San Diego, just be persistent in being a pain in the butt and you'll get dealt eventually. to where? who knows if its not a contender though so what, make yourself the franchise player and watch your team build around you maybe youll end up being the center piece of a World series team. It just might take 3-6 years
nah not at all I'm big fan of jeet...just figured around the time I was coming up into the majors id be jeters replacement ^^ last year I made a second baseman and replaced cano by year 3 -_-Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I am a contact-hitting 2B, currently in AA Portland (Boston Red Sox), and am mid-way through May. I constantly am batting 7th in the order, yet am currently 5th in the league in AVG (.331 | played tons during the 'AA Bench' period, got lots of at-bats. Led the league at one point with a .361)
I constantly have to ask the manager to move me up in the lineup, and I always get the response, 'you have a hot bat, we'll try it out.' For three games, I'll bat 3rd/5th but then its right back to 7th. And it's not like I don't produce. In those games, I went 6-9, 2 2Bs, 3B and 6 RBIs.
Anyone else have these problems of batting low in the order? It gets rather annoying to come up with '0 on, 2 outs' every inning and getting a base-hit.
My Stats (35 Games)
.331 AVG | 47 H/142 AB | 8 2B* | 4 3B** | 2 HR | 17 RBI* | 19 R** | 23 K/9 BB | 7 SB/1 CS*
* = Team Leader
** = League Leader
e. Also, do you guys find yourselves making the same player, year-after-year? I made a 2B in '09 and "fell in love" with him. Now, every year after that, I have the need to remake him. Playing any other position with any other batting stance and accessories would just feel weird. Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
So I originally started my career at a contact hitting second baseman, and tore up AA as an 18 year old and made the AA All-Star team. I was called up and starting in AAA by the end of July. During the off-season as a 19 year old I got offered a contract to be the starting AAA 2B and started the season pretty admirably for a 19 year old in AAA. I was hitting about .300 and 2 HR with a .400+ OBP before I got the call to the show. The starting ML 2B went down with an injury and I got called up to replace him as the everyday starter in the second week of May. I ended up doing well enough to cement myself as a fixture in the Angel's line-up. My rookie year I hit .260, had 20 HR 70 RBI but struck out 180 times in 450 AB. I finished second in rookie of the year voting.
Now in my second season I have 90 Con/Pow ratings and it's really fun. I went into the last week of April hitting .190 with 0 HR and feared I would lose my job as the starter. The last week of April saw me hit 10 HR with a 3-HR game, and three 2-HR games which vaulted me to the league leaders in HR and RBI. Now I am in the middle of June hitting .280, 27 HR and 80 RBI after hitting the halfway point of the season and I am right in the thick of the MVP race. The Angels have also bounced back since I got hot and we have won 18 of our last 20 almost bringing our record back to .500 and putting us in striking distance of the wildcard race. Our offense has scored the 4th most runs in the Majors but our pitching has allowed the most runs by such a large margin it's almost laughable. 2 fake pitchers in our starting rotation have awesome ratings but sport ERAs that are north of 7.00. This is in June mind you and they haven't missed a start yet, so something has to give soon. Hopefully I can carry this Angels team to a playoff appearance this season. I really want to sim a few years and hit free agency but I really want to play every AB on this guy.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I've become something of a Padres fan since my RTTS player broke into the Bigs with them. Someday I want to go see PETCO park. I had never seen the Western Metal Supply Co. building in the park before... I guess all the highlights I've seen were to Center or Right... ... ... or perhaps I've rarely seen Padres highlights.
Either way, the stadium looks awesome (as does Target Field, Safeco, Ballpark at Arlington, New Mets, New Yankees... more that don't immediately come to mind). I will refuse, restart, if I have to play for teams with crap stadiums ie: Blow Jays, Athletics, Rays (the gd'ed cow bells or whatever a the freaken most annoying thing I've ever heard... how can anyone stand that?), Dodgers, White Sox (I've been there, it's fine... it's just kinda bland), Marlins, Nats (see White Sox). The bad part is I'm a Nats fan (converted O's fan)... the stadium is just meh. I'd rather play elsewhere, see stadiums where I don't usually see the Nats play.
As I mentioned before, my wild stealing ways got me shipped out to Boston (not bad) so I get to play in Fenway... which kinda sucks for a LFer. Most hits go into/off of the Monster (it's freaken short) and the camera angles suck. When the Manager says "Deep" you can move about two steps until you're a body length from the wall.
To add on to the crazy trades issue - The Red Sox went through the Yankees enroute to our 2015 World Series loss to the Cubs... the Yankees lineup was ridiculous - Texiera, A-rod (playing SS), Braun (wha?), Holiday and Werth (who sucked). They also had three computer guys who were "Deep" each time they came to bat. The manager was backing me up for like 80% of their lineup. Wild.Last edited by Hokie200proof; 05-13-2011, 01:19 PM.Comment

And you have to raise ALL your ratings, not just your contact/power. If you're neglecting your fielding ratings, that will bite you.
That's my guess as to what's happening to you. I built my SS/2B as a speedy contact guy, and while his ratings were not as high as I hoped they might start at, he's been the leadoff guy the whole season (halfway through his 1st year in AA). That's even when he was batting under .200, he's now up to .250 or so. And has 1 SB and like 15 CS (I suck at stealing, evidently, but also need to raise his base-running ability too).Comment
