Re: MLB 11 The Show - "The Little Things"

I am in the field using Boston.....man on first with one out. The CPU hits a line drive to Adrian Gonzalez at first base and Gonzalez catches it for the 2nd out and tries to double up the runner at first......the baserunner slides back into the bag head first and instead of running to the bag, Gonzalez actually slides feet first to try and sneak his foot in beofre the runner gets back.

Pretty sure that is new - I don't ever recall seeing a fielder slide feet first to make a force out at a bag

Playing in a spring training game. Hit a catchable line drive to right. RF drops the boots the ball. A comment is made about how he is playing out of position.

Didn't know that the Giants outfielder Rowand and Rays pitcher Shields were cousins but I do now thanks to Matt!

I think you mean are cousins. Were makes it seem like they are not cousins anymore. And yeah that was cool. I was shocked when I heard that tonight, so I checked online and Matt was right. This game is gold.

Re: MLB 11 The Show - "The Little Things"

Hit a home run with Phillips last night at the GABP. The commentary changed and sounded like something specific to the Reds or to Phillips because it finished off with "Arnold" I didn't catch it all and was hard to hear but it was something unique. I hit a HR with Bruce as well but that commentary did not play.

I know in 09 when the Brewers hit a homerun you would get the "Get Up Get Outta here" commentary. Hope they still have that. At least the Get Outta Here sign lights up now.

Saw a new camera as well last night. Drew Stubbs hit what looked like a HR. It went to the angled camera behind the batter. It was going down the foul line nd just went foul. I was actually celebrating the HR cause whenever you see that Cam it means HR but it actually went foul.

Pitched an entire game with Chapman. His speed started to drop later in the game. He pitched the whole game nearly had a shutout but stupid fielding by me cost him in the 9th. He is a good batter too 3 from 4 lol. With 2 RBI and 2 runs. That is what happens when Livan Hernandez gets pulled in the first inning

Carlos Santana of the Indians hit a homer against me and Matt V said, "Oye Como Va! A homerun by Carlos Santana."

Re: MLB 11 The Show - "The Little Things"

after a hard fought battle between random teams Balt @ Mets just testing winds in various stadiums, game went 12 innings and Mets (my test team) won on a bases loaded pass ball 4-3..fun game.
Not really a "little thing" but can't recall winning in that fashion before.

Oh ya...Vlad let a easy fly go over his head while cruising and Reyes ended up with a standup triple, very unexpected since it was a normal looking fly ball.

Love the much better unexpected things happening this year compared to previous.

More excellent attention to detail in commentary:

Matt LaPorta hits a long foul ball down the LF line at The Jake. Matt's commentary -- "he darn nearly hit that to the basketball arena".

I don't play online. I'm an absolute ox when hitting offline, so I wouldn't embarrass myself.

                          But yes, I definitely would.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but playing earlier in franchise they had a "This Date in Baseball" overlay. It discussed Heyward's first major league homerun in his first AB vs Carlos Zambrano.

Had my very first homerun review the other night! First time outta all the games played last year, I finally got one with '11. Very cool to see. Umpires got together to discuss, then shown walking towards the dugout, cut to them walking from the dugout with the head umpire signalling the homerun sign. Awesome! Nice touch. Later

This isn't really a little thing in the traditional sense, but now that we can add mp3s for cheers/jeers, I've added a bunch of bleacher creature sounds someone posted here last year. It's awesome to hear it pop up at Yankee Stadium at various times.
