Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition

For my M's franchise, I'm looking to ship Jack Wilson (Batting .187 through May) out of Seattle for either a reliever, catcher, or bench player. I signed Christian Guzman to play 2B, so I have that position covered. Any suggestions?

With my rotation and bull pen in shambles I was thinking of trying to get a guy that could compete for a spot. Not saying he would, but would be a better option that just releasing a guy which it seems I will just have to do.

Only really knowing the Brewers, As and White Sox as whole teams I was hoping someone that knew other teams could chime in with a possible guy or 2 I could go for.
Ah ok, I see your predicament now. What is his overall/potential? Maybe look for a pitcher who missed out on the starting rotation and is either in a long relief role or in AAA. Like I said, I don't trade a lot and I'm not that good at it. However, when I do trade I try to come up with some reasoning behind it.

One of my franchises is also going to be with the Royals. I know I want to get rid of Betemit and Melky Cabrera, so I started a fake franchise to play around with trades a bit. If I remember correctly, the A's will give up Rich Harden and SS Grant Green pretty easily (depending on how realistic you want to keep it).

Yeah, Harden is exactly the type of guy I was referring to. I use the A's and their starting pitching/ bullpen is pretty stacked. I had Harden and Baily both injured to start the season and Outman filled in admirably before Baily came back.

I am with the Colorado Rockies with my franchise, and I am in need of a lefty relief pitcher, as well as a second in the rotation starter. I am also looking for to upgrade my defense at 1st, Center, and Right. Any tips, thanks.

i am playing as the mets. ike davis got hurt for the year. pelf stinks as we know. so i was in need of a 1B. i was also going on the probability that i would not resign reyes and/or beltran. so i pulled off the following trade and the AI accepted it

              jose reyes
              carlos beltran
              mike pelfrey

              for

              miguel cabrera
              max sherzer
              carlos guillen

i originally asked for verlander and cabrera, but was denied.

I looked at Minnesota and Florida as they are very weak at 3B and that was my extent of 1st search. Looking for a team with stock at 3rd. Didn't think of looking for a team over stocked with players, but I would have gotten there. Thanks for that info to kick me a little closer.

I want to keep it real realistic. Something that would be done in real life even though at times anything can happen. Harden would go for just Betemit, but It seems too much like a steal to me as Harden could conceivably be my ace. It's very, very tempting as I like Harden, but I think if do that I might as well go get Sheets from the free agent list lmao... He is rated better than Brett Anderson

Anyone think Carlos Villanueva from Toronto is a stretch?

There top 3B is Brett Lawrie which is very raw especially at 3B otherwise Betemit is better than the rest of their options.

Is Betemit rated higher than Kouzmanoff? If so, then Harden for Betemit is not such a stretch. Harden, while not reflected in the game, is the baseball equivalent of a glass jaw. The A's were shopping hard to replace Kouzmanoff with players such as Beltre and even Encarnacion. Kouzmanoff isn't exactly molded to play the A's brand of baseball, which makes him expendable in Billy Beane's eyes, despite putting up the most consistent offensive numbers last year.

His bar is higher than Kouzmanoff by a sliver. Betemit is 60's contact both sides, 60's righty power and 40's lefty power and slow as a moose. Does that really fit the A's? Looking at it Betemit is a much better contact hitter overall so maybe.

I don't think it's too far out of the question - except that he just signed with them this off-season, so it's unlikely they'd be looking to shop him. That being said, if you want to make the trade fair (regardless of when Harden signed), I'd toss in a C potential prospect - preferably someone near MLB-ready, but who doesn't stand much of a chance of making a major impact at any point in their career. That's just my thoughts on it!

Thanks for all the input guys! It helped a lot to make a better decision based off of what others think is a fair deal.

I think Harden is too much off of the ratings also considering the Royals are on the other side. Harden was a beast in 10 and I expect he would be with these ratings in 11 aswell.

I am thinking Carlos Villanueva or Dustin McGowan from Toronto. Their 6th and 7th best SP's which ratings wise equals Vin Mazzaro and are 27 and 28 respectively. Both are cheap (1 mil) and have 4 years in the big leagues. They wouldn't be locks in my rotation, but are good enough to be there which is what I was going with.

Since you can only receive 3 players in a trade, what is a fair price to ask New York to send for Felix?

Hey guys, just wanted to get a idea if this was a realistic trade. I'm the Nationals.

                            Nationals trade

                            Werth
                            Pudge

                            for

                            Red Sox

                            Ellsbury
                            Salt
                            Bard

I heard Ellsbury was unhappy in Boston last year, and I know they were pursuing Werth. Obviously Werth is valued higher than Ellsbury. I know Pudge is 39, but I figured he and Salt were a trade off seeing as how the Sox are a "World Series" contender that could use another vet's presence. Bard was in there to make up the difference between Werth and Ellsbury.

You could go the offer that was rumored in the offseason...

                              New York gets:
                              SP Felix Hernandez

                              Seattle gets:
                              SP Phil Hughes
                              2B Robinson Cano
                              C Jesus Montero

not sure it would work but could give it a shot

(any suggestions for a trade involving jack wilson?)

Which team. If the Mets, then good luck. I tried like every combo of highly rated prospects. I got like an inch of interest based on the blue bar.
