Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition

I am currently playing with OS full minors and am the Twins. I am in the very start of may and so far the only trade I have made is I traded Aaron Hicks (A potential CF) to the Braves for Craig Kimbrel and Billy Bullock.

Then just for fun I saved it and simulated the season and before the deadline the Braves offered me Freddie Freeman, Hicks and another guy for Morneau to which I declined because I was just messing around. Then they offered Tehran and another guy that I can't remember for Morneau. My question is, what do you guys think it would take to get Tehran and Freeman other than Morneau? Morneau is one of my favorites, but to get Freeman and Tehran I would almost have to do it.

I also want to get Starlin Castro to get a legit SS, but do not know who to give up.

Just can't pitch well with Peavy.

      Any idea to replace him?
      I'm looking for an ace
      or
a solid #2 pitcher and a nearly ready speedy OF or SP...

But I always had problem with him.
I pitched with him in the past version of the Show too but never been very good with him.
The problem is (with a lot of RFB guys) I have too many 2-0 or 3-1 counts.
I can't place his running fastball where I want to. I throw a ball or a dead center meatball.
But I get the same issue with Cole Hamels or Santana...
I'm not effective with this kind of pitchers.

So I don't want to play with a player I know I won't be effective.

So do I pick up this prospect who will either supplant my current CF, or else be a backup outfielder for perhaps one more year until I can't afford him? I will probably pass on the deal, but I like getting offers that make me take some time to contemplate, as opposed to the usual ones that I turn down immediately.
I was a little off on this one. The CF was Chris Heisey and he is only a B potential, and the third player they wanted wasn't Church, but rather SP Chad James. As I was contemplating the trade, the Mets ended up dealing him and Xavier Nady for SP Ian Kennedy and a catching prospect. Probably a better deal than they would have gotten from me. Besides, I pitch really well with Devine, despite being a D potential, and Kouzmanoff just became more valuable after my SS went down with a pulled hammy

Does Peavy have a slider. When I use Johan Santana. I usually throw his RFB out of the zone. Using his slider and awesome circle-change to set it up, most of the time. Helps the RFB and breaking pitch go in opposite directions

So I traded Jack Wilson to the Cardinals, and called up Luis Rodriguez to fill bench spot (broke up perfect game bottom 9th with HR in 1st ML AB)

                  Cardinals Get:
                  2B/SS Jack Wilson

                  Mariners Get:
                  RP Mitchell Boggs
                  B Pot LF

                  Fair trade?
                  Kemp for NL MVP
                  Montero for AL ROY

Clear advantage to you there. You didn't bend them over but I wouldn't label the trade as "fair". Jack Wilson isn't a great upgrade for St Louis and they gave up a decent amount to get him. Fair/decent if the Cards are desperate in a late season pennant race. Unfair at msot any other time.

Now that July has hit, I am looking to upgrade my pitching for the stretch. Whomever I acquire, I most likely won't re-sign them in the off season. I have quite a bit of pitching prospects I could move to get one of the following players from the three teams below that are now in rebuilding mode. Each would take two A pitching prospects and an 18 year old B potential CF prospect. Let me know what you guys think

Cubs - Billingsly; although not a pitcher, Soriano would help out as well if I moved him to 2nd and took the defensive downgrade

                      Padres - Chapman, Volstad

Blue Jays - Niese, Robert Ray

I may also try to move some of my players like Kouzmanoff to contending teams, but I will get to that in another post.

Lol, well I can't afford both of them; in budget space or prospects. Billingsly looks interesting. It would cost me around $10-12 mil I think (wish I didn't have to pay for the whole year on trades), but I am pretty sure he is in the final year of his contract so I can let him walk. Has anyone pitched with him or the other fellas I mentioned? I got offered Clayton Richard in a trade, but I am not pitching well at all with him. Luckily he didn't cost me that much, but I would hate to pull the trigger on a much more costly player like Billingsly and find out I suck with him.

Why not play an Exhibition game using him and see if you do well or not?

It turns out that I was wrong on both Billinsgly and Soriano. Chad has 3 years left at $10 mil per. Soriano has another year left. I don't want to take on either of those contracts. Sheets and Strasberg are both in the final year of their contract, but the Red Sox and Dodgers are still contending and won't give them up. Cliff Lee could be had for Max Stassi, my top catching prospect, but I don't want to give a rival a really good catcher. Grienke is a free agent, but he won't take less than $22 mil per so he is out. It is looking like I will have to roll with what I have. One more pitcher would have been nice though.
