Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Coco Crisp - Too much to give up to the Yankees, and he is starting there
Nyjer Morgan - Looks like he is on the Indians so that shouldn't be too hard
Lorenzo Cain - I don't see any trades so should still be with KC
Jarrod Dyson - Same. These guys could be tough if they are high Potential
Scott Podsednick - Mets I think. This guy would fit well
Julio Borbon - Still on the Rangers and doubtful I could get him.
Peter Bourjos - Dodgers. Top of the division so doubtful
Rajai Davis - Marlins. He is familiar with the required role
Michael Bourn - Probably too expensive for this role
Anyone else?Comment

Cool. I will check them out. So far I have:
Coco Crisp - Too much to give up to the Yankees, and he is starting there
Nyjer Morgan - Looks like he is on the Indians so that shouldn't be too hard

Anyone else?
Gerrardo Parra (D'backs) could fit the role. I hit very well with him and he could steal a lot (50+ SB if he is starter)
Lasting Milledge ?
Reggie Willits ? (Angels in 2010)
Juan Pierre (he may have retire in your franchise)
You did not mention Gardner but maybe he is too expensiveComment

What about :
Gerrardo Parra (D'backs) could fit the role. I hit very well with him and he could steal a lot (50+ SB if he is starter)
Lasting Milledge ?
Reggie Willits ? (Angels in 2010)
Juan Pierre (he may have retire in your franchise)

So I did some fishing and here is what I have come up with. Unless specified, all players are making less than a million:
RF Willie Harris - 35 years old on the Royals
LF Wilkin Ramirez - 28 Tigers
CF Nyjer Morgan - 33 Indians, making $1.8mil
CF Xavier Paul - 29 White Sox, making $1.1 mil
RF Fernando Perez - 30 Rays
RF Willy Tavaris - 32 Brewers making $2.5 mil
LF Michael Saunders - 27 Astros
LF Tyler Colvin - 28 Cubs
CF Cameron Maybin - 26 Marlins $1.8 mil
CF Rajai Davis - 33 Marlins
LF Brandon Jones - 30 Pirates
LF Scott Podsednick - 37-38? Free Agent wants 2 year at about $800K per
So I am looking at this deal right now:
A's get Brandon Jones and C Jason Kendall, Pirates get SP Clayton Richard and 1B Eric Hosmer
The Pirates and Royals are the only rebuilding teams. I need a speedy outfielder with good defense and a backup catcher that could start if I can't re-sign Suzuki. Pirates could use pitching and a good 1B Prospect. I had hopes of Hosmer taking over 1B for Pena, but that could be awhile, plus I have Dunn and Carter that can fill the role if Pena retires. With Hosmer, I can pretty much get any player on that list, but I want to keep the salary under a mil considering the role. Jones is not quite young, but he could fill in for Quentin in another year if I don't re-sign Quentin. And then there is Podsednick, which won't cost me anything other than DFAing someone to make room. What do you think?Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
If you just want a cheap option for the OF, Jon Jay has been great for me. I hit pretty well with him, and he can fly. I don't think he's been caught stealing at all so far. Matt Pagnozzi has always been good for me being the plate, even though I sent him back to AAA this year. He would be a cheap option as a backup.
I think you'd be giving up a bit much in the trade in to get Jones and Kendall. I don't know how Jones is in the game, but Kendall has never done much when I've used him. I wouldn't want him as an everyday catcher. I've used Podsednick before, and he was ok. If I remember correctly, he doesn't have much of an arm though.Comment

Moving Harper to left seems to have helped. The Nationals have taken him off the trade block in my franchise half way through May so so far so good.Comment

Terry Evans. So basically, a career minor leaguer who's only had a spattering of chances at the MLB level and who I only accepted because it evened out the deal and fills the spot at AAA in the Outfield. I called up Brett Jackson to take over in Center, moved Byrd to Right, and have Colvin starting in Left with Fuke and Reed as the Left and Right back up Outfielders.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Just started a franchise with San Diego and Kansas City. I plan on playing one of every six or seven games during the first year so I can try to get through multiple seasons. I haven't done much with KC yet, but I sorta blew up SD to try to create a team that is younger, cheaper, and hopefully better suited to Petco.
SP Aaron Harang, SP John Barbato, 1B Anthony Rizzo & 2B Orlando Hudson to the Pirates for 2B Neil Walker and C Ryan Doumit
The Pirates are glad to find someone to take Doumit off their hands, but they also give up the young, talented Neil Walker. In return they get Harang who becomes their staff ace, 18 year-old Barbato (B Potential) who is a nice pitching prospect, Rizzo to be the 1B of the future, and Hudson to take Walker's place at 2B. The Padres get their second-baseman of the future and a catcher to compete with Nick Hundley.
SP Casey Kelly, OF Ryan Ludwick & OF Reymond Fuentes to the Mariners for OF Franklin Gutierrez and OF Greg Halman
The other two of the three prospects received in the Adrian Gonzalez trade headed further up the west coast, accompanied by slugging left-fielder Ryan Ludwick. In return, we got the CF we coveted in Gutierrez and another solid OF in Halman. The Mariners get a solid CF prospect and a guy who can take over in LF right now. They also get a good, young starter who could join Hernandez and Pineda in the rotation. It was tough to trade away Ludwick but now Maybin can slide over to LF and the Padres will have one of the best defensive outfields in baseball.
CP Heath Bell to the Mets for RP D.J. Carrasco and OF Scott Hairston
The Mets get a big upgrade to the back of their bullpen, giving up right-hander Carrasco and super-sub Hairston. The Padres get a nice upgrade to their bench and hope that Mike Adams can handle the closer role until Evan Scribner is ready to take over.
SP Cory Luebke, RP Aaron Poreda & 3B Edison Rincon to the Blue Jays for SP Brett Cecil and SP/RP Carlos Villanueva
The Padres give up one of their top pitching prospects and a couple spare parts for two guys who could immediately compete for a spot in the San Diego rotation. Toronto hopes that Luebke's ceiling will be significantly higher than Cecil's. With Brett Cecil somewhat buried behind Romero, Morrow, Drabek and others, a change of scenery may be best for him.
RP Pat Neshek to the Astros for RP Mark Melancon
I can't pitch well with side-armers
I don't really make trades with "realism" in mind, but I do try to make them fair. I now have a better defensive outfield and a deeper lineup (even though I don't have a lot of HR hitters). I don't know if the Padres can compete in 2011, but I like the potential for the future. With my current payroll being so low, I really hope to grab a very good starting pitcher this off-season.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
I have Carpenter, Rasmus, Franklin on the block for my Cardinals....what should I get in return for one of them? any ideas?
I am open to trading Carp because he has been pretty average thus far and I feel like I can pick up a number of prospects for him.
Rasmus is just playing flat out terrible. Im hitting like .200 with him....but he does have 5 hrs and 11 rbis....the problem is that only 1 of those hrs happened within the last few weeks.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
I went ahead with the Clayton Richard and Eric Hosmer to the Pirates for Jason Kendall and Brandon Jones. Hosmer is now the best 1B in the Pirates system, after they let their number one pick a few years ago walk. Richard is one of their best pitchers now. Hosmer is signed for 4 years at around 400K per and Richard is a $2 mil guy for another 2 or 3 years. Kendall gives me some experience in the back up role so I can give Suzuki a day off every few games. Plus with Suzuki's contract up, I might need Kendall to mentor the next guy, whoever that ends up being. Brandon Jones gives me the speed and defense I need off the bench with my really slow team. First AB for Jones, he gets hit in the arm and is out for 2 weeks. What are the chances?
Right after the all star game and with Jones coming back, I managed to dump Ryan Church off on the Reds along with having to give up flamethrower Henry Rodriguez for a 20 year old A potential SP that was the 7th pick in the draft two years ago. I didn't really want to give up HRod, but it was really only a nominal loss. I have a pretty stacked pen right now and pitching prospects are what I need for the future. I don't know if I will be able to afford Anderson, Gio, and Mazarro in the long term. Now this kid will be able to make a challenge at the 5th starter position against Drabek, Ross, de los Santos, and Krol.Comment
