Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
So i have my Rockies franchise and i want to try and keep it a little realistic. Here is the deal I have in the works with the Dodgers:
Rockies Send:
Aaron Cook 2-4 3.27 ERA
Mark Prior 0-2 9.00 era
Dodgers Send:
Jamey Carrol .267 BA
i feel like im giving up too much, however Cook has been doing terrible since coming off the DL, he was 2-0 1.68 era and 0-4 since coming back. Prior whom i got off waivers, has been doing CRAP work out of the pen. I have Jonathan Herrera with a .169 average and Eric Young JR batting .296 in 50ab's starting to cool off. I fear that he will continue to cool off and i will once again struggle. Should i pull the trigger in hopes Carrol fits in or continue to promote from within?NFL - Denver Broncos
NCAAF - Boise State Broncos
Champions Indoor Football - Sioux City Bandits 9-2
MLB - Toronto Blue Jays 56-45
NHL - Colorado Avalanche 2022 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS
United States Hockey League - Sioux City Musketeers

Reds wouldnt fair well in this trade. yeah Ichiro is a hitting machine but he is getting up there in age, it would take Ichiro and at least 2-3 A potential players if you ask me. I dont follow the reds so i dont know what they need or would want. just my 2 cents.NFL - Denver Broncos

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Yeah - that's realistic
One of the the top 2 or 3 lefthanded pitchers in the game and one of the top 2 or 3 setup men in the game for Pelfrey, Parnell and a B Prospect.
I'm sorry but that is a complete crap trade.......that's the equivalent of the Red Sox trading Dice K, Matt Albers and a B prospect for Tim Lincecum and Brian WilsonComment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
There is a zero % chance of that trade ever happening.......but it's your game and if that's what you want to do - i have no right to tell you otherwise......but I will give my opinion.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Last night I messed around and created a very simple trade chart. This morning, I decided to expand on it. I went through and counted every players potential - A to F.
After completing the count, I assigned certain point values for each player's potential. Players were separated into two categories, position players and pitchers. Pitchers were given an overall boost in trade value points. I then separated players into age categories. For position players it is 18-26, 27-32 and 33+. Pitchers are 18-28, 29-33 and 34+.
Now I'm sure this will cause some sort of debate or criticism. Mind you, this was done completely off the cuff. So, if you don't like it, you can change it however you wish and share with the community.
Also, I did this due to the amount of criticism found in this thread (some of it deservedly so). I also believe people don't fully realize just how much they may be taking advantage of the AI.
Finally, users should realize that this is based off of game generate potential ratings. Therefore, you should try to remove yourself from the real-life dynamic when using this. I know a lot of people have a lot of opinions about who would "never be traded." However, some potential ratings are actually a bit lower and may cause the video game version of a player to not be as valuable as the real-life counterpart. So please keep that in mind when using this tool. I am by no means claiming this to be perfect, but, I think it is a good starting point.
Now, how do I share this with you guys? PM me with your email addy and I will send it. I don't care to using file-sharing sites because quite frankly, I never will use it again and I don't see the need to sign-up for something that I will only use once.
Like I said, I don't mind if you change it or provide criticism. This work is far from perfect. Just be respectful and please share any changes or ideas with the community so we can all benefit from this.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Speaking of trade values someone on another website created a trade analyzer for MLB The Show in Excel, I've been using it ever since 2009.
It assign values to players based on position, age, potential, current season stats, team standings, and a select group of players attributes.
I use it in my 30 team franchise to limit the unrealistic trades CPU teams make.

However, I did notice that the other chart really only allows for player-for-player swaps. My chart allows for 2-for-1 and 3-for-1 deals. What would be ideal is to combine both charts and have the best of both worlds.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
What I've been doing is just punching in players stas to get the values and add em all up.
Say I'm doing a 3 for 2 trade involving 3 position players and 2 pitchers, I would try to get the value of the first two position players (because there's only spot for two position players at a time) then erase the data of one of the player and get the value of the third guy. Some for pitchers.
It's much easier than I try to explain it, but I hope you get what I'm saying though.ST. LOUIS RAMS FRANCHISE (MADDEN 2010)
