You're right about the power thing. I'm more than willing to sacrifice a little D if it means putting some more runs on the board which has been a problem for me so far this season. My pitching hasn't been too awful so far. Hochevar has actually played very well. Francis has been serviceable and I did sign Sheets just cause I like him and, well, I needed the help. Davies and Chen are just arms to eat some innings.
No way on God's green earth can u win a championship with that rotation....U really dont have anything that resembles an ace with or w/o Sheets....Might havta start lookin to deal for a Cain/Cueto, etc...while ur at it, dont only concentrate on 2nd/3rd base for a bat....I know teams unrealistically put big-name boppers on the trading block so def be prepared to make a drastic move

Oh I don't think the rotation is getting me anywhere anytime soon...but I'm working with what I got. I'll only make a BIG trade once we get closer to the deadline AND if I'm in contention. My team has been coming back down to Earth the last 2 weeks so we'll see what happens.

Yeah. I'm a really big Royals fan anyways so I'm trying to only do stuff that I think would actually happen. I could go out and trade for Orlando Hudson and Josh Beckett right now for pretty much nothing....doesn't mean I'm going to.

Well...I still haven't convinced myself against the O Dogg

My prob with o-dogg is that he would fit right in with the rest of the royals...no power whatsoever...another older singles-hitter type....u don't need another one of those i would imagine...your catcher gives u no pop...neither does your 2nd baseman, shortstop, or center fielder....frenchie? ehhhh.....i do like gordon...let's forget about betemit lol and i really hope u have hosmer and not kilahue at 1st...so if u dissect your lineup as a whole, especially since u say ur offensively-challenged, o-dogg wouldnt make much sense imo

O Dogg wouldn't make sense at all, I just like him. The fact that I already have so many of that same kind of player is the main reason I don't have him right now. I started with Kila and he hasn't done bad while Hos is struggling in AAA. Like I said, kids gotta earn it.

Frenchie has actually been great for me so far with 9 dingers and 28 RBI, both team leading. Gordon has been a doubles machine and Butler has been AMAZING so far.

The main problem is power and actually getting runs across the plate as players who should be hitting for a decent AVG (Aviles, Betemit and Melky) have not been hitting well to start the season.

Melky is just wasting time until I decide what I want to trade him for and then make room for Lorenzo Cain who will probably be my leadoff or #2 hitter. Escobar, Butler and Gordon are going nowhere anytime soon. All players that I plan on locking up.

At least u have a long-term plan working....Would u be open to trading 2/3 of ur blue-chippers for a Cain-type if u was in contention?

It would really depend on which prospects. Luckily, I have more than enough prospects to use as trade bait.

Considering an ace-type AND power-hitter should be on top of your shopping list, i'd probably deal from strength which is their pitching...U seem to like duffy so u prolly wouldn't let him go....i guess that leaves montgomery, lamb, odorizzi, dwyer, etc. I'd only trade montgomery/lamb for ace-types or proven middle-of the lineup mashers.....Just with the royals, it's not filling one hole....and nobody wants to mortgage their entire farm just to concentrate on winning for one year...

I just started a new franchise with nyy.

I've must;ve tried at least 50 trade combos in trying to land Miguel Sano from minnesota.

The decision to trade Prince has really paid off. Not only do we now have three young up and coming players, but they have played great for us as well.

Prince has been slumping hitting around .263 with 22 HRs. When we received Ike Davis he had 19 HRs and 49 RBIs while hitting .255. Well he has hit 8 home runs and 18 rbi in the last ten or eleven games. He is just killing it. He is third in the NL with 27 bombs. And his average is now up to .267.

Now we are at the All-Star break with a record of 45-47 and a game and a half behind the Reds. I would like to make some kind of trade for a pitcher on a non-contending team. Who do you guys think I should give up to make that a realistic possibility?

I'm more likely to trade someone like Lamb or Dwyer. Duffy and Monty are both close to the show and I want Odorizzi around because I don't have a lot of big talent coming up that's RHP. I'm looking for the future which isn't always easy to do in this game but it's going to pay off.

Well I wouldn't necessarily have that mentality...If your in contention by the trading deadline, u have to try to win at all costs....U jus can't be afraid to trade big-time prospects for proven veterans.....I'm in the same exact boat as u..I'm playing with a small-market team (Pirates) and i'm doin very well through 85 games...Granted, i haven't been scouring the trade block but i will have to soon...Like your team, the pirates don't have a bonafide ace, and like u, im VERY hesitant to unload top prospects..In your case, the royals have more pitching prospects (and prolly hitting prospects for that matter) then the Pirates, so the blow wouldn't hurt that much as it would for a team with a barren farm system
