I think his name was Bumgarner. I'm not sure if he was a fake player or not. He was definitely not arb. eligible.

Did you control the Braves or was it the CPU?
It was 30-team control and every team was set to auto, I just paid more attention to what the Braves were doing b/c I know their team best. Just spitballing, but perhaps a 30-team vs 1-team difference is why mine was different if we are not seeing similar results.

In the other thread about the patch, Russell has been dropping info about the franchise issue. I only hope that the fix they are putting in addresses the cause (the amount of money going to the lower level guys) and not covering that problem up by doing something else (like lowering the high salary and letting the low stay as high as it is).

On a different note...is monicker says Russell, some call him Ramone...why is this? Is it like in A Knight's Tale, where his working name is Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstien and people call him William? A Knight's Tale...maybe Knight knows...is this a conspiracy? WTH man...

lol...His name is Ramone Russell. So some are simply referring to him by his first name...

We need this thread moved to the front page or a new one created to detail what methods can be used to address the franchise problems. I know there is a post in this thread detailing how to get around the FA and/or Pot A & B glitch.

This thread is now on page #4 and there are no other threads outlining the methods to run franchise mode for fixes. Could we please get this stickied or a new thread stickied to the top of the SCEA MLB section of the forums? Thanks!

I bought this game on the understanding this problem had been fixed, I suppose I should have waited a day or so.

hopefully they fix it but i'm seriously at a loss of words at how this can still be a problem this year, it crushes road to the show mode for anyone that plans on playing more than 1 year "sim people included" it hurts franchise, you can do numerous workarounds but still..........

Oops! I must have missed the thread when skimming over the SCEA MLB section. Thanks for letting me know! I didn't necessarily have any information to provide but was looking for a thread like the above. That will be great for everybody playing franchise mode. Thanks guys!

Man, I guess I've only ever been fortunate with this bug - the only huge name who lost any real playing time has been Matt Cain -- but I've also given up on my file seeing as it's 2016, and my DBacks team is about to totally fall apart due to my budget not increasing enough... So I guess it's about to get a lot worse for the entire league.

However, I can say one good thing about the financial logic in the game: Arbitration figures seem to be moderately realistic. Daniel Hudson wanted about 17 million in his 3rd arb year, but when all was said and done, he only received about 13.5MM. Not bad.

Arbitration seems okay to me. The problem is the renewal system. CPU teams are releasing prospects (that aren't due for arbitration) into the Free agent pool because they don't know how to lowball them. The A potential prospects are asking for too much money for having no experience. We, as human players, are able to lowball realistically. But the CPU doesn't do it.

It seems not bad in comparison to numbers in the game to this point, but Hudson has a long way to go to be a Tim Lincecum and Lincecum didn't even ask for the $13 mil Hudson received. That is a still a ridiculously high arbitration figure (especially since the max salary in the game is $25mil and in real life players make more than that now).

But, arbitration isn't so much the problem as what josh said above. It's the lack of a contract renewal system and young, no-service time players asking for and getting millions when they shouldn't.
