That second video looks like a 'realistic error' to me. I know it's frustrating...but misjudges like that actually happen.

Although, it's hard to say if that was 'supposed' to happen, or if it was some kinda glitch.

Happen to Hairston of the Mets this week. Completely lost it in the lights.

Any ball that is near the wall if you have to move your player towards the wall. They will get magically sucked into the wall and brace themselves even if there is no reason for them to take the 5 extra steps to go into the wall.

You should go back and look at the video posted early in this thread - stop running like your life depended on it towards the outfield wall and your "momentum" won't take you into it. Someone posted a video earlier showing exactly how to do it.

You guys really need to learn to feather the stick while fielding.

A couple other things I have now noticed is I have had players just jogging back for a ball with there glove out and the ball just drops right over there head lol. I figure perhaps this is tied into there fielding ability but it seems like such an easy catch.

LOL, I know exactly what you mean, and yeah it's tied to ratings. It is basically the CPU not snapping you into the catch animation as quickly with poor fielders. A good way to see it graphically, is if you play with Catch Position and Catch Region 'ON' - you will notice how poor fielders Catch Position (the ball icon) isn't as centered in the Catch Region, as it is with better fielders.

Did you see my video on page 15, post 143? (the 2nd vid) Would you have been sucked into the wall on that play? If so, you're running too hard to the ball. As you approach the ball, just ease up a tad on the stick as you preload your throw and he'll just plant and throw. Think of it as if you were running to the ball yourself. You wouldn't try to pick the ball up at a full sprint, you'd gather yourself as you approach the ball to gain control...same principle.

The momentum thing I can totally understand but I don't all out sprint to a ball unless I have to. Most times I will just jog the player over to make the catch.

Like last night there was a simple base hit down the left field line my LF who I thought was in a good position to round and get it and throw the ball to home instead decides to collect the ball and make a dash to the side railing and take 5 steps allowing a run to score.

This had nothing to do with momentum as my player was not even close to full sprinting. It is just very random sometimes how the fielders react lol.

post the video so they can see whats going on and fix it. this is a pretty serious issue to gameplay.

Any advice on turning DPs? My 2B or SS always cancels his throw as he's about to fire it to first.

I play on autofield and my OFs brace themselves into the wall like they were running out of control even when they were just jog over to pick up the ball. It's annoying especially when it's a speedy guy running the bases.

Below is an example of collecting the ball near the wall without bracing up against it. As Granderson approaches the warning track at full speed I let up on the stick and let his momentum bring him to the ball. I preloaded the throw when he hit the warning track. If you go after the ball at full speed up until you grab the ball, most of the time momentum will take the player into the wall causing him to brace up against it.

I'd like to see the cancel throw button mapped to a unique button, that way you never have any confusion on repeatedly pressing a base button. Practice and skill can minimize the issue he described on a double play, but there are still cases, such as pre-loading a throw when the fielder misplays the ball where you have no idea whether your fielder is currently planning on throwing the ball or not.

Maybe I should have mentioned that I have Throw Cancelling OFF. Why would hitting the button twice even be an issue?

I'm pretty sure I'm pressing circle once, but I'll take your word for it.

Well, then you did not "cancel" a throw as you mentioned in your original email. Instead you hit the circle button too early once. You have to wait to give the throw input for the covering fielder (@ 2B) until the ball has left the hand of the fielder who fielded the hit (aka waiting until the fielding marker is under the intended fielder).

Man, this was happening to me left-and-right when I first started 'playing.'

It might still if I played a game instead of just managing my franchise team.

I don't know if anyone else felt the same as me, but I couldn't help think that some kind of designator that told you that you had entered a throwing command (pressed the button once) or a cancelling command (twice) would be helpful. Or maybe a different button? Throw cancelling was a much needed addition and I was stoked to finally see it in and I think it works great, it was just a little tricky for me NOT to activate when trying to rush a play...

There wasn't a whole lot of negative feedback on it so maybe I'm alone on this...
