Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
All right, all right. Relax, please.
You have access to people that work for SCEA. They are kindly answering your questions and telling you why they don't think the mode is used by many gamers.
I understand that you disagree - that's fine. But, avoid the little shots at the company. You can try to sell it like you're just telling the truth, but I'm not blind. I can read between the lines here. Relax with the comments.
If you really want SCEA to improve the mode then show them why it would make a difference. The only thing I've seen is you saying: "You don't know how many people use MoM."
Well, do you? Because if you do, why are you keeping this information silent?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

PLAYER EDITOR:
Will it be possible for them to add FIRST NAMES to the selectable list of Last Names for audio?
The commentators already refer to players by Last Name, even if you don't select a first name. That's great, except for many players their first name is the only thing available in the commentary so we never hear our name. The names are already in there, and the game is already programmed to use the list of last names for PBP.
So by adding first names to the list of last names, I could set my LAST name in the commentary to "Chris" -- which would be a nice change of pace from Vasgersian calling me "Fatty".
Alright Chubby, I'll check.

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
Sorry.
Perhaps we can persuade them to allow first and last names(databases) to be available for either in the future.

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
Knight, did you ever hear back from SCEA regarding the CPU not putting their manually injured players on the DL? I was reminded of it when playing around in my single-team Bucs franchise last night. Saw Wainright still sitting in the "Injured" section, but not on the DL, with the major elbow injury I gave him.
ThanksComment

If it's not fixed on the initial release...hopefully this is something they could patch.
With the fixes I saw to the other aspects of franchise mode....I think I might go with a single team franchise myself(as well as a 30 man.....because I just can't help myself in "fixing" things !!)....

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
That's encouraging. As much as using 30-team control to mirror real MLB happenings within my Pirates franchise sounds like an engaging way to play, it has to be a lot of grunt work. <strike>Maybe if I ditch the wife & kid</strike> And there's something to be said for the immersion factor of single-team and making your own decisions along the way.
If I may ask, what specifically has you leaning towards single-team control? I think I have a good idea based on what we've already heard, but I'm hoping you might slip up and give us some new insight.Comment

Honestly, it's just from playing the game and seeing the teams now handling their young players properly(signing them!!!).
It will depend on how you feel about trades and lineups as to whether you will go with this or not. Me...I just let it be....doesn't bother me no matter what I see!

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
For the most part, I'm at that point as well. Lineups in past years never really bothered me, although if they are more typical of MLB strategy in '12 that's a plus. I'm fine with player movement as well, with a slight exception for the Pirates. But I'm getting better about just playing the game for what it is as the grey hairs appear.Comment

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
I imagine there are always people who want to reflect whatever happens in real life (I'm not one of them), so for those guys there perhaps should be an option to somehow fix or lock certain lineups (although needless to say there must be ways for CPU to handle injuries and auto fix), or even change it manually for each game...
While AI improvements are always welcome, I personally feel the effort now should be directed more toward implementing managerial tendencies (which include lineup tendencies) than trying to perfect one and only one AI.
Not everyone agrees with what a manager does even in real life, so the benefit of allowing manager tendencies is that, whatever weirdness that you feel about lineup is going to be because of manager tendency. And you cannot blame a manager for having a unique thought! As long as there will be reasonable variations and differences, it will actually be more fun seeing different lineups.Comment

After that, maybe even owner tendencies (I think it was OOTP that had this) in which the budgets are defined by the owners. New owners would change budgetary demands. I will stop now before I go too overboardComment

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
Maybe that can add that as an option one day!
Owner lockout...this season will only be 112 games!
Or maybe like the split season and have the Nationals banned from the playoffs no matter how many games they won in each half!
