        Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR

I'm an avid fan of any sports game's Franchise mode. I've played The Show before but it's been a while. The Show '12 is going to mark my return to the PS3 world.

It may have been tagged on in some earlier posts but would one of you remind me on some key points I have? Those being...

-Does The Show use a similar budget system that MVP used? Like, payroll increases are determined by team performance and secondary revenue like ticket sales, merchandise, and things of the like?

-Salary Cap: Will it be instituted or will there be an option to turn it off? I like being able to build and maintain a team while using it. There was a vague reference to the market of a team having a bearing on the payroll of a team. Is this true? If so, it'll definitely make it a challenge for me. I'm a Rangers fan and they already have a good team. But, it's a small market so I'd love the idea of this.

-Minor League Integration: It's a pretty upfront topic.

Based on previews and what I've read, the CPU will make moves based on rebuilding or gearing up for a run so that excites me a bit for Franchise. Is there anything else that I may be missing here in terms of major selling points?

Not like MVP. The budgets are set to reflect the current teams somewhat in that they are shaped according to the current contracts(+ wiggle room) to start. While The Show can't use real contracts....they try to get them somewhat in line within their own system...to the MLB.
Budgets will be shaped by your success in winning...but it's pretty cut and dry....1% increase for 5th/4th....scaling up to winning the W.S. As of now...there is no dynamic owner that will throw boatloads at you.....or a cheapie coming in and slashing etc....
None of your other monies(stadium....vendor etc) are coming into budget(although they were toying with adding in one of the vendor items into budget while we were at community day...but it was up in the air when we left)

No salary cap(I'm assuming you mean team....) but there is a limit to player contract offers...25 million per year.

Minor leagues?....you say it's upfront...but I don't know what you mean! (sorry)...are they there?..yes...AAA and AA playable and a Single A that is a 15 player holding slot. As of right now...no financials to the minors.

Teams will enter into rebuilding....normal....or playoff push according to certain factors. This will effect the type of trades that the team is willing to pursue.

            Hey Knight,
Did the Rebuild/normal/playoff push logic get some love? I know last year I wasn't too happy with how it was handled.

IMO...there is so much overlapping logic...that putting that in for users to see was a disservice in a way. I would have much rather they just had the opposing GM e-mail you and tell you "we're in the playoff hunt....and in need of a XXX.....take a look at our prospects and let me know if we could work on something".
I don't know....you see "PLAYOFF PUSH" and then see the GM trade a SP for 2 prospects and you're kind of like...whaa?....but down deep there are other factors that will ignore the "playoff push" mode it goes into.

While there...tbarnes and I saw really good offers in regards to that...and still some head scratchers.

I hate trading in games...it's way to difficult to really nail down and I haven't played one game that has gotten it totally right.
That's why...I've adopted the live and let live attitude and I keep a handful of AWFUL(MUCH WORSE THAN ANY GAME I'VE PLAYED!! ) real life trades in the back of my mind and simply refer to them whenever I see something "off"

Thanks, man. You hit on everything. Kinda disappointing that a dynamic owner is missing (though that would be pretty amazing for future incarnations because the idea would do away the need for a budget) but the lack of contracts for minor league talent adequately makes up for it. Not saying it's the best system but it fits. You could easily spend around $6-9 million on minor league deals (reference to MLB 2K series) that you could incorporate into major league deals.

As for player salary, I figured there would be a limit on how much per year you could give them. I'm assuming there is a relatively accurate system for gauging their talent against their potential salary. But, you never know.

Minor league integration was hit very directly. I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear.

Dynamic team building makes me giddy! Making the right deals can make/break a team and I have a knack for making good ones.

                Thanks again for the info!

Thanks for the input Knight. I never really noticed that the playoff push or rebuilding factored into what teams did with trades. And some trades are just so awful. I guess it's really difficult to work and get it right.

I hope they do something. I see no reason to play beyond 2013 in the show '11 version because player salaries have outpaced budgets by 2014.

I see no reason for you to play '11 anymore...period.

Do you know if any changes have been made to PNC Park? For some reason no one can answer this for me haha. I know the Bucco Blast counter is now active, but just curious if any other changes
