Yeah I noticed this with my RTTS guy. Like I said in my post before, the way he runs, tucking his head down for the first 3-4 steps etc is all very realistic too. All subtile details that I think we should all give the animation team the praise they deserve.

Liking the game, a few things have come up..threw a guy out at first from RF and it wasnt even close. In RTTS I find when my player is on base AND "bouncing off" the base the camera jumps around a little too much, makes it uneasy to watch. Game is pretty awesome though no "real" complaintsComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
First of all, I would like to say playing this game at Best Buy for a few innings did not do the game justice at all. The cutscenes are great, camera angles are cool, and the sounds are spot on IMO (broken bats, hard throws to the glove, the catcher's mitt popping, sliding into a bag).
The commentary is awesome so far...granted I have only played 3 innings at home so far. But I am playing an exhibition and they have already put stat overlays up of career stats of a batter against a pitcher, and called Andruw Jones a 34 year old veteran ("as the 34 year old veteran takes the first pitch.")...then they went on to talk about how he has this many career hits and how he passed a certain player last year. I was so surprised by it I didn't hear who he passed. I am not the type of person that expects them to absolutely wow me and get me all excited. It is baseball after all. I just want them to call a solid game and give me facts and tidbits as I play. Hopefully, I see some nice extended conversations about random topics as I play more.
EDIT: I just heard extended conversations about two separate Oriole players Reimold (if he can be the everyday LF, and that he has some pop and that he had a certain amount of homers one year in the minors etc.), and then another conversation about Mark Reynolds (how he has established his reputation of being a player that strikes out a lot but hits a lot of home runs as well and how Buck Showalter likes that or is okay with, etc.). Good lord I wish the NHL series had this much detail (makes pouty lips).
I like how everyone is saying that the ball has weight and what not...I think this accurately describes what is going on. Even when I field a ball and throw it this year it just seems more ummmm grounded or fluid or something like that. I like the new batting view. The ballparks are nice as always.
I am not going to jump into a franchise yet, unfortunately, but have to wait for Knight's rosters. I need me some Manny Banuelos, Gary Sanchez, and Dante Bichette Jr. Good stuff so far. I will more than likely come back and post about the other game modes later. I mostly play Franchise mode so I am really looking forward to some subtle improvements in that mode. Congrats and thank you to SCEA. Another solid step forward.Last edited by garyjr33; 03-06-2012, 04:12 PM.NHL: Rangers

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
I'm half way through my first exhibition game playing on hall of fame zone batting. it's more difficult this year. they made the pci smaller. I actually like that it's more challenging on hof now.
the improvements they made to the game are excellent and very noticeable. the ball physics are very realistic. the crowd isn't over hype anymore. the Fielding animations are so lifelike, it's unreal. the camera cuts between pitches lend an authentic feel to the flow of an actual mlb game. and I can't put my finger on it, but the graphics look better too.Comment

Pulse Pitching is LEGIT. A game changer wow.
Ball physics are amazing. Seeing a line drive tail away from the outfielder and drop for a hit is very nice.
Presentation is a million times better than last year amazing job.
The lighting is spot on.
Player models look a lot better than last year.
AGAIN Pulse Pitching is AMAZING.
The overall game feels so much different than last year.
This is only from ONE game played!!!Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
popped it in and played my annual first Boston (me) vs Yanks game and what a game it was. Lester and CC battled all game but my offense couldn't do anything. CC 2 hit me and the Yanks won 1-0. Lester had 8 k's. pulse pitching took me about 6 innings to get used to and it's still hard. I find I am late on almost everything. I didn't really get a chance to see the ball physics yet. lighting and atmosphere are excellent. everything seems more polished and just feels right. Crowd is great. I can't wait for the minors set so I can start the franchise.Comment

I figured Pulse Pitching would be really easy to master.
I was wrong. Very, very wrong.Comment

Wow me playing a game at Best Buy did not do this game justice. I'm completely in love with this year's game now. Pulse Pitching is unreal. Love it. I'm also liking how the defense can get errors now based on the player. Pretty realistic.
Also one thing I loved was my catcher didn't catch one of my strikes, the ball bounced off his glove and rolled away a little.
Amazing game for me.Comment

Hitting feels so much better. First thing I did was try out the BP with Starlin Castro and I was scalding balls, missing when I should and hitting them where I should. It's improved so much since my last time with The Show.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
I would like to say that the commentary, me being one of the many to B**ch about... it's alot better if you ask me. More stat lines, etc. Lighting...wow what an amazing job. Presentation...nailed it. Absolutely nailed it.
Ball physics...incredible. Faces are spot on. Pitching motions and releae of the ball from the hand is freakin outstanding. Just.... wow.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
Game definitely oozes quality. The game, to me, plays faster. Smoother, but faster...almost like it went from 30fps to 60fps (i dont know what it was/is). I do remember pitch speed being lower, but i can barely see the ball lol.
Edit:i could be a bit on the tired sleepy side, i'm def not getting old lol...*remembers better reflexes*
Edit2: I switched to Catcher Classic as was able to read and see the ball much better. It could be due to Weavers FB 89-92being slower than the 94-96 I was seeing from Hanson.Last edited by phant030; 03-06-2012, 04:24 AM.Comment
