Loving the game but I absolutely hate the box score color.

Its got a black background and red borders and its hard to read.

I'm not sure about the pull logic of the managers. I was playing, Rangers Vs.Indians @ Progressive.

Ubaldo is pitching a gem. He's about 1 over the minimum and has a no-hitter after 6 1/3 inning. Kinsler gets me in the hit column. Manager comes and pulls him. It didn't make much sense to me, since he was dominating me.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

Picked up the game yesterday and officially started my 'chise this morning...
-Graphically the game looks like '11 but 10x better, just more polished.

-Animations are much smoother and more fluid, more life-like.

-Pulse pitching is THE way to go for me this year. Its pretty difficult and you really have to work every single batter. I ended up walking 8 batters in my first game when I first put in the game against Miami.

-Batting seems better. Cant quite place it but I think its a combination of the new ball physics, the new bat on ball sounds, and the customizable batting camera. I use the newest one but angle it all the way down. I use timing and even foul balls sound and feel like theyre hit hard! Definitelt feels so rewarding when you really get a hold of one and hit it out or into the gaps or down the lines. I cant stress enough how much the bat and glove sounds bring this game to life, although I wish the glove sounds would have a little more "oomph".

-Throwing is better but I still dont feel that "weight" when actually throwing. Maybe its cause I use the buttons and not the analog stick. Still fun and challenging though.

-Im loving the little factoids they put on screen and theyve definitely worked hard on keeping you in the game.
Commentary was great in my first exhibition game in Miami and heard a lot of new stuff and they even had full on conversations, not so in my first spring training game but who cares, its spring training!

All in all, this game after a day and a half of having my PS3 ON, is totally blowing all of its previous versions out of the water.
Everything seems ironed out and clean. With the exception of a few minor funky looking plays and decisions, this may be the perfect baseball game in the history of video game baseball.
We play today, we win today, das it!-

I am quite enjoying it, everything seems very smooth too me. The only things I have noticed so far is that when I bring in a new pitcher it doesn't show my manager walking to the mound? just cuts to the pitcher coming in also I see some pitchers have pitches that they don't have in real life ( I assume that these will get fixed when some guys release there pitch edits ) but I am loving it. Hope to get some more time in later.

When I brought in a new pitcher, I saw my manager walk to the mound. Not sure why you didn't.

I know I said I wasn't going to say much more after yesterday...but this isn't so much game-related. A little bit but not really.

Just wanted to say, I hate the "new" Citi Field. Playing in last year's game, it was fun to play the Mets because the ballpark, with its dimensions and strange walls, was so different from every other park out there. Now? Its just like every other park, IMO.

The Mets should've signed Reyes (since "old" Citi was the ideal ballpark for his abilities) traded Wright and whoever else had issues with left field, loaded up on left handed power guys (you know, like that Duda guy and Ike Davis lol) and filled out the roster with high contact, high speed guys and build a stud pitching staff.

THAT Mets team would be a nightmare to play against, especially in "old" Citi but that type of team travels well too.

Anyway, end rant. Kind of disappointed one of the truly unique ballparks I always looked forward to playing at in The Show the last few years is so ho-hum now.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

Playing my first game, Phillies @ Marlins. I am struggling with Pulse Pitching and Halladay is getting squeezed big time. Down 5-0 through 3. Josh Johnson on the other side was mowing me down. 9 up and 9 down.

Top 4, finally getting the feel for the new camera and such, Victorino hits a hanging slider into the upper deck in right. Next batter Utley, drives a fastball to left center off the atrocious homerun wheel (sadly no trophy). Pence up next drills another fastball, onto the concourse in left center. And then Thome crushes a hanging changeup just to the right of the wheel.

We have 16 mph winds blowing out to straight center and Kyle Kendrick is warming up so stayed tuned folks.

Edit: just hit a foul ball off the fish tank

Well I tried it again ( Im playing as the Jays ) and for some reason it doesnt have John Farrel come to the mound to yank his pitch when you bring in a new one. It only seems to happen at the rogers centre because I tired it at another park and it was fine. Anybody else try and see if they get the same result? maybe I should post it bug thread?.

well, The Slab and his impressions and stat thoughts suckered me in to getting it.
                        a sucker for OSDs
                        yes, my weakness.

                        early impressions:

the install wasn't bad. once i saw the time approximation, i went in and fixed lunch and made a phone donation to the Childrens Hospital.

first thing i noticed while letting the DEMO MODE play out.
                        the lighting IS improved.
to me its not even subtle.
it kind of hits you in the face.

sharper much more true to the time of day.
interested to see how full sun day games come off.
last time they were SUPER bright, even making it hard to make out the ball at times.

edit: was gonna check out DD mode but i guess because of the west coast timing, they are waiting to open the Server floodgates?

Ok, throwing guys out at first from RF, is going to be a problem... now that (as I think I've stated) I found the "pitcher" view in the custom cams (I didn't like "pitcher close" or "pitcher full" and last year's "pitcher" is not in the standard camera selection)- pitching is much better. I'm diggin' pulse pitching on all star.

I dislike the swing/pitch info- even on "button" it still automatically displays the OSD , all "button" does is just show you the words i.e. "very early" ... I would much rather bring it up all or nothing.

With the ticker on the screen looks busy...I actually don't like the new score bug... it concentrates all the stuff in the center of the screen... it seems more "obtrusive". The ticker was awesome, but distracting.

The new throw meter is cool, I guess... I can't tell what it's done yet, but this is only my 4th game.

Ball physics and pulse pitching make this an easy buy- even if there is "too much" on screen for me

bullpen logic, why leave RHP Fernando Salas in to face Votto and Bruce in top 9 in a 2-2 tie?

Saw the CPU RF make a diving catch, and it looked very natural, and then I was pissed because I was out. The fielder gets up and he had smothered the ball!!! - awesome touch

                                Quick [literally] Impression.

                                the 10gb install?

Fast times at ridgemont high with 12.

what a difference in load times?

That might be more noticeable then the ball physics.

speaking of, checking out ball physics now.

edit: so much for checking physics so far, as wainwright i struck out the side, two looking. lol
