Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

    A few notes:

-Baserunning is difficult. If I'm at first base in RTTS, and the pitcher throws a pickoff to first base, 99% of the time I get thrown out. It's virtually impossible to be safe on a pickoff throw.
-Ground balls into the corner die very quickly.
-Lineup logic, free agent signing logic, and trade logic are absolutely awful. Roy Halladay being put in the bullpen because the Phillies traded for Tommy Hanson and David Price? Josh Hamilton signing with the Pirates? Jose Bautista being traded with Cordero for two AA prospects? The AI logic really needs to be revamped.
-Fielders are way too fast. It's very difficult to hit a fly ball in the gap that doesn't get caught. I used sliders to lower their reaction time and throw strength, but that doesn't change the fact that they run incredibly quickly.

Don't take this as me saying I hate the game, because I'm having a ton of fun playing it, mostly RTTS. These are just a few tidbits that are irritating.

Is this a bug. Playing baltimore and they tried 3 suicide squeezes on me, 2 in the bottom of the 9th and the other in the bottom of the 8th, they missed the bunt every time.

It's not a bug... CPU tends to use suicide squeeze a bit too often.

The S100 helmet is not the new S100 helmet that is being used in MLB. The one in the game is still the old, huge one. The new ones don't have those weird screens in back.

In my O's franchise I swept the Twins to open the year, then lost the next game to the Yankees. Scary-accurate results.

In the 5th game of my Rangers season, I hit my first triple since buying this year's game with Julio Borbon. It felt great. It went right in front of Ackley's glove and somehow made it to the right center wall. If Gutierrez hadn't had to stop himself from hitting the wall and take the time to turn around, I probably wouldn't have made it. I had to slide to the inside of the bag to make it, nonetheless, and Seager was seconds away from making the tag. Next batter, I slap a single opposite field to bring him in. This game feels so natural.

This game needs to include a slide step like no other. Nothing worse than calling for a pitchout then watching as the runner takes off, but your pitchers delivery from the stretch is so slow that there is no point in ever actually calling for a pitch-out.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Plate Coverage Indicator (PCI)

Big problem with this years (2012) Plate Coverage Indicator (PCI). I feel that using the PCI is a must for advanced hitters/hitting, however this years PCI (in an attempt to be cool, no doubt), looks like a yellow splash of piss that is VERY difficult to see past! Last years PCI was a symmetrical oval shape that was very easy to see through, as the pitch was fired towards the strike zone. I find the yellow piss splash MUCH harder to see through (pick up the baseball), & very distracting from the way its all misshapen. I don't feel as though turning it off is an option, but I wish there was something I could do, to get more of a PCI from games past. Even if the splash could be made not so yellow & opaque. Just want to see the pitch!

The ability to go to a 4 man rotation would be cool as well as turning fatigue off. I know it's not realistic but having the option would be nice.

You actually can go to a 4 man rotation. I did this I believe at the beginning of my season when teams IRL tend to do this.

Go to the rotation screen, take your 5th starter and move him to an empty slot in the bullpen. His spot in the rotation should now say empty. Voila you are running with a 4 man rotation. Now obviously with fatigue on, you can really only do this for a limited time without killing your starters, but you an do it.

Doesn't that give you an invalid roster prompt?

No. I did this for the first week of my Rockies franchise. I didn't add Pomeranz to the rotation until the second week of April. After Chacin pitched, Guthrie (my No. 1) was next up on the screen.

As long as you have 25 players on the MLB roster, you'll be fine in avoiding prompts.

I officially take back EVERYTHING I said about being able to draw varied walk numbers in this game.

                            I've become a walking machine.

                            10 BB here, 7 there; 6 BB here, 2 there; 8 here...

Unless you changed sliders it's not the game's fault. After playing so many games you eventually adapt. You probably are more patient now and recognize pitch location a lot quicker. It's science!
