Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
Also, they should probably look over the physics again. I was concerned when Jose Reyes hit an opposite field bomb in the Marlins ballparks trailer...and then this happened to me:

I'm gonna go ahead and say Carl Crawford hitting a high 94 mph pitch the other way 400 feet will never happen in real life. They still haven't really fixed the whole pulling/going-other-way thing in the game yet.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
I like the game after skipping last year's but two things bother me. It's near impossible to draw walks and no matter the pitcher they throw an inordinate number of first pitch strikes. Also, the velocities are way off. I've faced Jason Hammel and Brad Penny and both topped out their fastballs at 95mph. Penny hasn't topped 90mph in several years and Hammel maybe could get it up to 92 a few times but not consistently. Also apparently A.J. Burnett can still hit 97mph on the gun and hits 90mph on his change up. It takes away a bit of the realism of the game.
I like the hit varieties, improved CPU fielding and overall quality of the games I've gotten so far about 10 games into my fantasy drafted franchise.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
This is so ridiculously incorrect it's not even funny. Opposite field home runs happen in real life, why can't they happen in The Show? Not to mention a fastball is the easiest thing to hit a home run off of. Ever heard of inertia?Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
Love the game, as always... but...
-Trading is HIGHLY disappointing again. You can trade for literally any really good prospect with A potential by offering your worst F potential players. How does that happen?
-I find there's way too many ground rule doubles. Seems to happen at least once a game.
-I'm sure it's been listed, but throwing guys out at first from RF is happening. Which is ridiculous.
-Infield grounders just seem off. A lot of times, it seems infielders are getting to balls they have no realistic business getting to. And other times, it seems like little dribblers are hit and the guy ends up safe when it should be an easy play. Either way it's just "off". Something very unnatural in this years version.
-Jumping at the wall animations or controls need to be fixed. Seems to me, even when I time it perfectly to rob a homer or grab a ball from hitting the wall, the player jumps up and acts incredibly dumb and the animation has them just look away and miss it. I dunno, I don't want this game to be a "homer-robbing fest", but the way it's working right now seems broken.
Guess that's about it. Otherwise, great game.Comment

Yes, opposite field home runs are common. For some players. Guys like Reyes, Crawford don't exactly have a history of hitting booming moonshots to the opposite field, mostly because they don't have the power to do so.Comment

But they don't have 0. Crawford has at least one, and as a Mets fan I can vividly describe at least 3 opp. HRs in the past 2 years alone. Even Desmond Jennings hit an opposite field shot like 400 something feet last year. Guess what pitch it was off of?Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
This isn't really a bug, so I guess it is an impression.
When you hit a ball into the fountains at Kauffman Stadium, it bounces too much. The ball reacts like there is no water there, just concrete. Hits the water and bounces 2 or 3 times, then disappears through that back wall.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
But the fountain is not deep right? its pretty shallow if i remember correctly so it can still bounce off the concrete (just wet concrete)Comment

Loving the game. From the different walk off hr celebrations, to the added animation to robbing hr's, to the ball physics, to the team special hr calls " Get up, Get out, Get out of here, Gone!" ,..im just loving everything. I just need to stop swinging at so many bad pitches and ill be good to go.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread
Here's all you need to know about trading block (and trading in general) for this year's game; my RttS character is a double AA player for the Cubs. I was scrolling through some of the trading blocks just to see who was on it. The Braves Jurrjens and a few other pitchers on it. Not a big deal right? They were seeking two things, a CP and catcher. Never mind the fact that they still have Craig Kimbrel, Venters, and O'Flaherty in the bullpen. I'm not sure what to think about this logic for trading players.est 1978
