Re: MLB 12 The Show - Q&A Thread
Umm getting carried away...retirements are fine with the age they retire. They retire between 36-42 or so, which is right on par with MLB...trust me we looked it up. Look and see how many players 35 and older are on 40 man rosters. What I said is I am surprised they are retiring with time left on the contract. Its usually only a year.
Reason I say surprise is it didn't happen at CD so must have had something happen. I am sure if there is a patch it can be fixed.
Franchise mode is so much better this year there is no Huge problems. Some trade logic tweaking maybe as well as draft tweaking and I think perfect.
Edit: also not everyone retires with time left I've only seen a few players.

I'm curious as to the specific scenarios of retirements, what player, his stats the previous year, age, etc and see if they changed anything. Have any stuck out as being strange?Arod always retired early in my franchises, even after huge years maybe 1-2 years into franchise. I'd be pretty disappointed if Pujols retires before he hits 40.Comment

I don't think so...
We played a game with him to check it out.
The knuckler looks really good this year(all of them regardless of speed)...but Pared mentioned the 79-81 MPH knuckler and how we can't achieve it in the editor ....the did it for us for Dickey and we used him in a game.
I'll have to ask Lorne.

Well this year the system has a much better handle on regression. Players dont perform at peak levels anymore when they get older. Now you will see those former all stars hanging on hitting .240 with 20 hrs.
Edit: I do want logic though put back in to not retire while under contract. Players don't walk away from money. With the new system with regression its nice having to bench the aging vet with a big contract. Only exception should be early retirement due to injury.Last edited by tabarnes19_SDS; 03-04-2012, 12:49 AM.Comment

Their might be another delivery that looks similar other then what looks like him coming from all the way over the top his delivery looks very generic.Comment

Is this something that can be patched into the game? I think it's very important, as RA Dickey is known for throwing this pitch and it makes a big difference in approaching hitters, and changing speeds, RA pitches similar to Tim Wakefield in last years game, although he is a very unique pitcher.

Am I reading this correctly? Regression has been further accelerated/refined for older players (or something to that effect)?
If so, that's fantastic!!! Could you elaborate on what you've heard?
As a Yankees franchiser, this is really a remarkable concept. I actually can't wait to have to deal with this! I'm sure overall potential plays a factor here, but just thinking of having to eventually figure out "what to do" with A-Rod a few years in is making me salivate!Comment

You will!! I had him in one sim hit 12 hrs and hit .260 a few years in. Regression is great this year!! One of the first things I noticed at CD.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Q&A Thread
Also has anyone noticed if glitched deliveries are still in the game?
Last year I think that Jonathan Sanchez, and a JJ Putz and Ervin Santana and a few other guys had glitched deliveries where the ball would come out of their hand in a very weird, unrealistic and distracting way.
Has anyone seen any glitched deliveries where the ball does not appear to come out of the pitchers hand properly in this game?Comment

Wait, wait wait...
Is my math off or are those historical numbers updating based on your completed season info you also posted?Comment

Also did he have the ability to throw a slow knuckleball in real life? In real life he throws 3 pitches as far as I know, a fast 80-85 mph knuckleball, an 80-85 mph fastball, and a bigger, slower knuckleball that comes in at 65 mph and has more break ( which is in the game ).Comment
