    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

After the somewhat decent start, I dropped completely and am now 3-11 with the Twins.

My bullpen managed to throw away a 3-run 8th inning lead to lose game 3 of the series to the Rays, and in game 4, the game was scoreless through 15 innings until Carlos Pena knocked one over the wall to send the Twins home without a win in 3 close games at Tropicana.

I signed Roy Oswalt as the pitching has been poor, but since then, good starts from Pavano and Baker have really helped the defense, however the offense is up and down.

I'm going to try to trade Jamey Carroll and a starting pitcher (either Baker or Blackburn) for either a strong pitcher or a second baseman.

It doesn't get any easier with Boston coming to Target Field next up. It hasn't been an easy start to the season:

    Baltimore - away
    Angels - home
    Yankees - away
    Rays - away

Jamey Carroll doesn't carry much trade value so u might as well keep him as your utility infielder if u don't want him starting....the Twins def need a legitimate threat at either of the middle infield positions as neither Carroll or Casilla put fear in pitchers....If ur not too big on realism, how about Dan Uggla or Brandon Phillips?

3 hits in two games, time to go down to veteran hitting (timing)

Granted, I went up against Josh Johnson and Zach Greinke, but still.. 3 hits???

I am a completely un-noteworthy 4-4 with the Blue Jays. I have hit 16 HRs so far.

started a new franchise with the D backs, drafted incredibly young, got bryce harper with rosters, and josh johnson, pineda and montero, trumbo. wound up trading montero, jonny venters and bud norris who was 12-1 at the time for king felix, then traded pineda, dustin ackly and my starting center fielder for cano.

simmed the first year, harper won the MVP with a 308 avg, 46 hrs, and 152 rbis
now i have the one two punch of hernandez and johnson, with the bats of cano harper and trumbo, currently 5-6 and in last place in the west

I'm 14-13 with the giants in my chise . Just took 2 out of 3 from the dodgers an now start a series against the d-backs. My hitting use to be awful but I've heated up a bit as of late. I'm on hall of fame difficulty and my average is up to 220 lol. I'm currently 2nd in the division behind the Rockies. Still annoyed that the pitchers foul everything off it seems and get at least one hit per game -___-

I'm 1-1 with Cleveland right now. Game 1, I struck out 14 times but got a HR from Santana and Kipnis and some big hits from Hafner to win 5-2.

Game two was crazy. Shelly Duncan hit two HRs, and I was up 5-4 in the 9th and got the game winning ground ball to Chris Perez who threw it away and the next pitch Jose Bautista hit it out. Tough break, but a tip of the cap to Jose.

                  Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

I have a franchise with the Blue Jays that I just stared while waiting on Knight's rosters to start my Braves franchise. I have created myself as CF and my friend as SS. Unlike some people I know that put themselves in the game as super human my guys are very average and I'm hoping the progress into super human type players. But anyway. I traded for Eric O'Flaherty, Martin Prado, Tim Hudson, Chipper Jones, Freddie Freeman, Kris Medlen, David Ross, Drew Sutton and Eric Hinske from the Braves. All using real players and with force trades off.

I just got done playing my season opener against the Indians and I lost the game because I did possibly the stupidest manager moves I could think of.

I started off the game by giving up a 2nd inning homerun to Grady Sizemore off Ricky Romero. I tied the game in the 5th inning with a homerun by Prado off of Ubaldo Jimenez. First homerun I've hit in a game so far. In the 6th inning after a single and a double put runners at 2nd and 3rd with nobody out they intentionally walked Jose Bautista to load the bases. Freeman then hit a hot grounder to 2nd that Jason Donald threw away and I scored 2 runs on the play to take a 3-2 lead. It stayed 3-2 till the 7th inning. With 2 outs in the 7th inning and guys at 1st and 2nd with only 1 out I had a decision to make. Leave Romero in the game to face Travis Hafner or bring in Darren Oliver. I stick with Romero and it worked as I got a double play to end the inning. But sticking with Romero in the 8th inning didn't work. I gave up a leadoff double to Choo. Just barely inside the RF line. I pull Romero and put in Francisco Cordero and on his 2nd pitch he gives up a 2-run bomb to Asdrubal Cabrera and I lose the game 4-3.

                        Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Boy I suck at hitting on this game. Just lost my 2nd game 7-3. I gave up 3 runs in the first inning with Tim Hudson. Then I went to the 4th inning. After I got a leadoff double with myself I was had a runner at 3rd with 2 outs. RBI double with Chipper followed by a 2-run homerun with Brett Lawrie tied the game at 3. I went to the bottom of the 4th and gave up a run and thought I was going to make it out of the inning with just giving up that 1-run but I was wrong as I gave up a 3-run bomb to Carlos Santana. That made it 7-3 and that was the final score. Not only was there no more scoring in the game but I didn't record another hit. I finished with 5 hits and 9 strikeouts. I've played 4 full games today so far and I've averaging around 2 runs a game and about 5 hits while averaging 10 plus stikeouts a game.

My biggest gripe is how every hit I give up is either a homerun or a ball hit to just the perfect spot and nearly every hard hit fly ball I hit gets caught on the warning track or the gap. I've been adjusting the sliders and it doesn't seem to help any.

just swept the D-Backs in AZ in a 3 game series. I'm now 3 games out of first. The final game was wild, i won 1-0 in 14 innings. It sucked because I had 12 No hit innings before finally surrendering a hit in the 13th. I had a tough decision to make in the 8th inning. Runner on 3rd with 1 out and the pitcher up but I kept him in because I wanted a no hitter. Probably a bad mistake but whatever haha

I finally won a game. I beat the Indians 5-2. Was pitching with Brandon Morrow and nursing a 3-2 lead when the 6th inning came and I got a 2-run bomb from Kelly Johnson and then I pretty much cruised from there. I a bit of a scare in the 8th inning with Darren Oliver but got out of it with no harm. In about the 4th or 5th inning I changed the hitting cam back to the old one and had much better at-bats and hits. I could judge the balls and strikes a whole lot better. Still haven't drawn a walk yet but that's because I'm still having trouble getting the whole stride timing down. Once I do then I'll be able to better lay off those silders down out of the zone and those high fastballs out of the zone. If I time my stride right I end up being early on my swing. So I've yet to find that perfect balance.

I'm so proud of myself. In my 5th game of the season (after I simmed a 8-4 loss) I beat the Red Sox 1-0. John Lackey had me on the ropes the entire game while I was getting singled to death but getting out of the jams. Then finally in the 7th inning with 2 outs and a runner at 2nd I bounced an 0-2 pitch up the middle for a single by Brett Lawrie to score Freddie Freeman from 2nd. After that I again pitched out of jams and hung on to win the game 1-0. I finished with only 4 hits (all singles) and gave up 10 hits (all singles except for a double by Youkilis). But it's just so rewarding to pitch well enough to win a 1-0 game when I only had 4 hits.

I'm three years in with the Mets and finding a pure power hitter is damn near impossible. Find players who are hot. For instance I traded for Michael Young and he did wonders for my franchise... And then he retired.
