    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

I want to post pictures later, but this is basically what has happened in my Braves franchise so far (playing every game):

    - Finished 2012 season at 92 - 70, 2nd in NL East.
    - Tied with Diamondbacks and Brewers for 1st in WC race.
    - Diamondbacks beat Brewers to face me in WC playoff, beat me 8 - 3 (don't want to talk about the loss lol).
    - I go through offseason, with main losses being Chipper Jones (retirement), Tim Hudson, and Michael Bourn.

I'll show what other transactions I have made and all of that, but I have already entered the 2013 season, and five games in, I am on a tear! I haven't changed any sliders in this season from last season, but my team just can't stop hitting haha.

Again, I will have to post stats soon (from both this season and last season) and other things, but wow they are doing absolutely phenomenal right now! Talk about overcoming that loss to not advance to the playoffs.

UPDATE: Now 7 - 0. What the hell is going on here?

Going into the last 3 games of the regular season, my Halos lost 2 of 3 to Texas Rangers and now are 1 game behind and 1 game ahead of the surprising KC Royals. this has been a great season I played every angel game to date and Pujols and Trumbo have been awesome, I'm going to have to pay Trumbo some cash this off season most likely Torii Hunter will not be resigned with Trout coming up next year, he broke his leg and is out the rest of the season.

Just dropped a game against the Brewers. Ian Kennedy 1 hit them through six innings, but gave up a leadoff double. He struck the next guy out, but then injured himself against the next batter, meaning I had to bring in a cold Brad Ziegler, who gave up the go-ahead run, and we lost 1-0.
But I don't know what to do with Kennedy now. He'll be out for 1-6 days, which is such an annoying estimate. If it's one day, I don't need to do anything. If it's five or six and he misses a start then I'll have to try and find some workaround. I've got Wade Miley who can step in from long relief, but then I don't have a long option in the bullpen, and Ian is taking up a roster spot. I might move a position player down for a couple of days so I can call up another arm for long relief in the bullpen.

60 games into my season, I'm now 37-23 with the Braves, good enough for first place. But man, this division is tough. The Phillies, Nats and Marlins are all within four games. The Mets have finally begun to fade a bit.

The Yankees and Tigers continue to be the class of MLB. I've got one more game with the Jays, then I get to test myself against the Yankees.

There's a lot of quality teams in that division. The Mets weren't rated that well in the game (they are overachieving a bit irl), so they do typically tend to fade out of contention.

              Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Just had my best single pitching performance of the year in game #91 and starting the 19th run through my rotation.

Jake Peavy which has been up and down literally this season just pitching a complete game shut out winning 4-0, striking out 11 hitters including 7 in a row in the middle innings while only giving up 2 hits to Jacoby Ellsbury allowing 0 walks. He threw 96 pitches and had a 80% strike percentage.

              His season line is:
              19 starts - 10 quality starts - 8-8 record - 120.1 innings - 93 K's - 11 BB's - 4.49 ERA - 1.23 WHIP - .284 OBA

All on the heels of a 10-4 drubbing by the Red Sox against Philip Humber which has been my most consistant pitcher which going into the game was the only one under 3 in the ERA department. Boston was 1st in the league in Average and many other offensive categories obviously, but on the heels of an offensive explosion the bats were put to sleep on the best pitching performance of the season for any of my pitchers and that includes a No-Hitter by Gavin Floyd which wasn't as dominant, but rather the defense was in that game.

That sounds like an awesome game.. I know in my Twins franchise I always kill Peavy he has 2 or 3 starts vs me and hasnt gotten past the 5th inning. Whats your record?

Should I start rebuilding if i'm 36-40 and 8 Games back of the wild card and 14 back of the Indians in the division? Plus my only consistent hitter Morneau is out 4 weeks with a pulled hamstring ( he was batting .330 with 26 hrs and 62 rbis. Led league for MvP race, HRs, RBIs, and was 3rd for average.... )

Yeah Peavy is very hittable so I can see a human lighting him up. 7 in a row is the most I had and the 11 breaks the most I had with Sale having 10 through 8 innings once.

I am 49-42 2 games behind the Tigers and tied with the Yankees and Royals for the Wild Card spot.

If you are that far behind and getting near the deadline I would probably sell off unless you think you can win next year with what you have then maybe think about selling off just the nearing retirement guys because they will be worse next year and keeping a couple of the clutch vets you got. Or the guys that you know can be replaced next year. Sounds like Mourneau might be a keeper with his stats he is producing for you. Drop the rest keep him and move on maybe.

I was 13 games under .500 heading into June, but my team has gone on a tear now that my rotation has been better. I am a Sox fan so it's had for me to trade my guys. Konerko is my only consistent offensive threat so I can't dump him even though I was seriously thinking about it at one point. I can't bring myself to trade A.J. or some of my other long time Sox vets. Hell they were my 2 All-Stars even though A.J. in all honesty was a complete surprise to see him make the squad.

I bring that up to share my opinion on the importance of having a good vet or 2 on the club. Keeping someone like Mauer or someone near his caliber around really helps keep the team playing well.

Going into September in my play every game Cardinals franchise. I'm 98-34.

I don't want to make a separate thread just for this or post it in the bugs thread but has anyone else had trouble with their roster expanding on September 1st? Mine didn't for some reason. Anything you have to do to get it to expand?

                          Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm at the end of June in my Indians franchise. Just to refresh I only play against my division. But I will play outside the division here and there, all depending on the team and their records (incase any playoff implications).

So I have a 3 game set vs the Yankees and I'm 6 games ahead of the Royals for first place. The Yankees take the first two games. Not dominating wins but they got key hits when they needed them.

Final game of series, I thought I was in for a long rainy game when Eduardo Nunez gets on base in the first and then on the next four pitches he swipes 2nd AND 3rd base on me to set up a sac fly from Cano. 1-0 Yankees.

Derek Lowe was pretty effecient after that. Carlos Santana gave me the 2-1 lead with a homer to left center. Batter after that, Casey Kotchman, hits a bomb to right, right after a pitch that was called a strike when clearly it was a ball and i can't exaggerate that one enough, talk about variable umpire. 3-1 I'm up.

The Yankees rally to tie the game in the 7th. I come back in the 8th to take a 4-3 lead after I pinch hit for Travis Hafner with Jose Lopez to get the L vs R matchup. That would end up being the final score.

This win, more than others during the season felt well earned. The Yankees, much like in real life, present lefty versus righty and vice versa problems. so i had to use my bullpen wisely. The Yankees took 2 out of 3 and I am currently 5 games up on the Royals.

Just wanted to post some stats from around the league from my Indians franchise.

                            Division Leaders
                            East - Yankees
                            Central - Indians
                            West - Rangers

                            East - Marlins
                            Central - Cardinals
                            West - Rockies

NL East is the tightest division. Phillies are in last place but only 6.5 games behind

                            Batting Average
                            AL - Longoria .354
                            NL - Braun .327

                            HRs
                            AL - Pujols 21
                            NL - Ethier 22

                            RBIs
                            AL - M. Cabrera 62
                            NL - Berkman 59

                            Wins
                            AL - Sabathia & Verlander 11
                            NL - R.A. Dickey 10

                            ERA
                            AL - Sabathia 1.72
                            NL - Zito 2.02

Stats as of June 28. I will try to post some team stats later.

Quick June Update to recap the draft and a big trade that went down.

                              2012 Draft

Notes: I'll probably change Herrera to Mark Appel. Garcia and Harman are both raw but have ceilings of Major League regulars. McDonough offers some intriguing "now" power at a young age, but he's a bit of a long-shot. Gill has a chance to contribute with the bat in CF, but he'll have to improve the rest of his game quite a bit. Standridge is filler.

Notes: Alvaro Ramirez, drafted #3 overall, offers an attractive combination of ceiling and polish. He could start in AA next season, and while his bat is almost MLB-ready, he needs to improve his defense. Gonzalez is a polished lefty, but already near his fairly low ceiling. Velazquez could be something someday, but he's got a long road ahead of him. Riddle and Cabrera will be lucky to make it to AAA.

Besides the draft, there was also a big four-team trade that went down in June. Talks began between the Pirates and Angels, as Pittsburgh saw Mark Trumbo as a possible long-term solution at 1B and a potential middle-of-the-order bat. Trumbo wasn't getting a ton of playing time in LAA (114 AB, .289, 2 HR, 18 RBI). However, the Pirates weren't offering much that fit into the Angels plans of making a playoff push in '12.

That's when the Padres entered the picture. The Angels had been looking at Chase Headley as an upgrade at 3B, believing his numbers (.237/.316/.303) to be mostly a byproduct of spacious Petco Park. Callaspo (.252/.322/.380) hadn't really cemented his place at 3B and Trumbo was a butcher in the field.

The Padres were quite interested in several players being offered by the Pirates, and talks progressed until a deal was nearly in place. Still, however, the Angels balked, not believing Headley to be enough to give up Trumbo.

Enter the Mariners. Seattle had its eye on Donavan Tate, seeing him as a possible long-term solution in CF. Tate had worn out his welcome in San Diego due to a number of issues, and even though his numbers weren't bad in AAA (.275/.381/.370), the Padres were fine with exchanging him for a younger outfielder with a high ceiling. The Mariners also agreed to send SP Jason Vargas to the Angels, who needed a solid starter to step in at the back of their rotation. Jerome Williams had been struggling and even though Vargas was only having an okay season (4-8, 4.72 ERA), he offered more upside.

The Pirates shipped off RF Jose Tabata (.284/.356/.351, 13 SB), 3B Josh Harrison (.316/.349/.408 in AAA), and prospect Luis Heredia. They also agreed to take on Bobby Abreu (85 AB, .271/.323/.353) from the Angels. The Padres shipped out Headley, Tate, a couple relievers, and dumped Jeremy Hermida on the Pirates.

                              Here's the full breakdown:

                              Pirates
                              Tabata, Harrison, Heredia to SD
                              PTBNL to LAA

                              Padres
                              Headley to LAA
                              Quackenbush, Hermida to PIT
                              Tate, Vincent to SEA

                              Angels
                              Trumbo, Abreu to PIT

                              Mariners
                              Pimentel to SD
                              Vargas to LAA

Here's a run down of my franchise up to this point:

I created two players to use in my lineup: myself and WWE wrestler John Cena(that may be weird to some but he's one of my faves and thought he may be a good player)

I've made quite a few trades so far... just to improve the ranking of each position or to get rid of players that were doing very poorly:

On 5/8 I traded C Ryan Peters to the Mets for P Jon Niese
5/9 - Traded C Taylor Teagarden to the Phillies for P Jose Contreras, C Vance Guerrero and LF John Mayberry

                                5/10-Traded P Darren O'Day and 3B K. Startup to CLE for 1B Travis Hafner, P Robinson Tejeda and P D. Diaz

5/11 - Traded Mayberry to MIA for P Carlos Zambrano and P Anibal Sanchez

6/10 - Traded 3B Josh Bell, P Anibal Sanchez and LF J. Yoshii to BOS for P Daniel Bard, Vincente Padilla and M. Rylander

6/20 - Traded Bard and LF Will Gray to CLE for P Mike Gonzalez and P Josh Tomlin

As of June 27, I'm 54-19 with a team batting average of .307. Here are my main lineup's stats so far:
