Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Just finished up my 2nd full year as a MLB Closer. Unfortunately it didn't go as well as my first year.
For about the first half of the season I was God-awful. So much so that I got demoted out of the closer role. I finished the year nicely though and earned the closer role back. I finished the season with 34 saves and a 3.44 ERA. That's a far cry from my 56 save, 3.06 ERA season a year ago. Hopefully this coming season is better. I'll only be 22 years old.
Also my team was garbage this year as well (maybe my early struggles contributed to that?) but we finished 74-88 and missed the playoffs. All in all a year to forget.
BTW any of my fellow closer RTTS'ers have any advice for success? I think I'm doing well so far as I'm only about to start my 3rd full season in the bigs as a closer (age 22) and already have 91 career saves, but I'd like to lower my ERA. I was hoping I would this past year but obviously that didn't happen.Student at the University of Kentucky...GO BIG BLUE

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
They'd rather have me at LF and Skip at 2B over me at 2B and Holliday at LF...
Instead, they're benching Holliday, and bench me 1-2 times a week to give him playing time. That's the worst lineup management ever. I've had hit streaks ruined cause I got benched, then get a single at bat during some random blowout game to continue my hit streak.
Funny how people talk about being traded all the time, and I really wanna be traded and I've never even been traded once in my RTTS and it's been about 1.5 seasons.Comment

Yeah the change position logic is horrible. It really should be as simple as "if no player above C rating at the position requested, allow the change, else deny the change". Simple, instead it does some things that make me want to punch a baby. I was playing ahead of Zimmerman and then Freese all while I attempted to get put at a position of need. Instead I got traded, then Freese got traded...UGH.Comment

Just wanted to check: can you get sent down from AAA to AA after failing too many goals? My SP got called up after his first advancement period in the game and started getting rocked in AAA lol. I would like to get back down to AA for a little while to build some stats.
I could only find info on going back down from the majors to AAA.Comment

Yeah, I've been in the bullpen for what seems like forever. I spent two periods of failed goals only to find myself back in the rotation due to someone's injury. I then had two more periods of failed goals and the White Sox traded me to the Giants, so now I have to start all over again lol
Failing can be just as hard as doing well it seems :/Comment

I'm sure you guys have had this too, but my RP ALWAYS give up my leads. 3 straight games they have ruined a 2-4 run lead. Or the manager takes me out because I gave up two hits. I feel like I can get out of the inning without giving up a run, but no, the RP has to ruin my 8 inning shut out by giving up both runs.
I should be like 20-6 and winning the Cy Young right now, but no, my RP have to be terrible and ruin all my win chances.
On another note, my team can't help but blow our WC lead. We were up by 7, now we are tied after going like 3-11. Thank god the first place team is 2-8.Last edited by Calipup; 06-22-2012, 07:00 PM.St. Louis Cardinals 4 lyfeComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
My rookie season as a SP in Miami is finally doing well.. I'm 11-4 with a 2.45 ERA.. It's amazing how during interleague I struggled, I was 1-3 with a 5.75 ERA and when we started back playing the NL I'm 7-1 with a 1.01 ERA including a game at San Diego where I took a no hitter into the 7th.. As for the team they're rolling at 76-38 in 1st place by alot..
Btw I don't get why my performance was so different in interleague.. I mean I was giving up about 4-6 runs per game and I struggled to get to the 6th and 7th inning.. Back in the NL I give up 0-2 per game and easily reach the 7th to 9th inning...Favorite Teams:
