Re: MLB 12 The Show - Online Impressions
and to add to my last post....
i've noticed something online. the game doesnt record the progress of the game until the END of the inning. so in my case it was the bottom of the 2nd and i had a 2-1 lead, my opponent was up to bat. (NOTE: that my opponent scored in the first inning and lead 1-0. i scored 2 runs in the top of the 2nd) my opponent (not insisting that he did) COULD have disconnected from the servers and because of that the servers would have to go back to the last recorded data. WHICH had him leading 1-0. so he was given the win and thats EXACTLY how it showed up in the box score. thankfully all the batting/plays are recorded. so you could go back and really see who lead. if my theory is correct, this is a very simple way to cheat for victories.NFL

Game 2 against Ramone...
Played the full game w/o any hiccups - was great! Lost 6-3 and exited before saving the Highlight Reel, though.
Will be reporting back tomorrow after I play some games against others - hope it plays out like it did against Ramone.
Again, I'm very impressed/pleased with the two games I had against him ESPECIALLY for the fact that I was playing via wireless connection!
To be continued...Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Online Impressions
Played one game, against a random opponent.
Lag was not good. I think a few days or week needs to be given for them to tweak and do anything they can to improve it on the server side.
Expect to be thrown out at first from the outfield a lot this year (against cheap, random players at least). Hell, I almost got thrown out from CF in the game I played. It's really bad and I hope it can be addressed.
WTF happened to the camera options? All the cameras from last year are gone, and the custom camera settings don't seem to be usable online. Or am I missing something?Steam: BahnzoComment

Anyways Ramone just beat me 4-0. I gave up 3 HR's
The highlights only showed a single up the middle for me...that's it. Lol
I did have some hits but due to not being calm at plate Ramone got out of jams. I seriously have some work to do before our league!
The game was the best online game experience with The Show ever. God it was fun!
I almost p!ssd myself when his Right Fielder took a flyball off the face. Ramone showed the replay and it was priceless. My LF, after a bad jump, let one get right over his glove.
Anyways it was a great experience with virtually no lag.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Online Impressions
well. played my second online game. this time it was just a play now game.
Dodgers(me) v Jays(opponent) 0-0 bottom of the 9th and the connection craps out again. i dont receive a lose this time though. this really blows! Kershaw was pitching a great game (only gave up one hit) at that point. i was hitting the ball decent but not capitalizing in key moments. absolutely NO lag what-so ever while pitching and only slight lag when batting. it was a smooth game. so it was very surprising to me that the connection dropped because there was hardly any lag at all. i'm disappointed that i havent been able to get a full game in online yet.NFL

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Online Impressions
I've tried playing a couple Diamond Dynasty games online. The timing was *very* different than offline, having to swing very early just to make contact. I was never able to pull a ball that I remember. Both games disconnected before we could finish the 5th. Also, and I only mention this here because it seems like maybe an online issue, even if I play the CPU in DD mode, the results aren't recorded. It says the game has been submitted for processing, but it has been hours with still no results. Anybody else getting that?Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Online Impressions
Very similar experience to last year. Last year I played two or three games and gave up, never played online again. Here are the negative points:
1. Lag. It didn't get to the point where everything would freeze but the lag was more than noticeable, it forced me to swing at everything way before I was supposed to. Equally with pitching, If I timed it right, it would clearly go under the line (analog pitching). I had to adjust and time the lag in order to be able to do something useful out of my online experience. The game went to extra innings (0-0, that's right) because neither my opponent nor I could hit much. I actually took a no hitter with Felix until the 8 and then the lag forced me to give up a hit. Don't really complain much as the lag was responsible for me not allowing any hits in the first place. I ended up striking out 17 in 9 innings (and 2 more in the tenth). My batters struck out 9 times.
2. Random pitch selection: Like last year, sometimes (so often I lost count) my pitcher just selected his pitch without me asking for it. Not only that he also pitched once or twice after wildly selecting the pitch. I didn't even have the time to step off the mound, he just pitched. Luckily, the lag was so bad that because they were all fastballs my opponent couldn't hit.
I've played online before and the best was in '10. After that nothing worked.
I know it sounds like a rant but what i described above is a real and objective account of what happened in the game.
Reading all your comments, it makes my want to try again but last year I gave up after 3 games and I don't know if I'll be able to be patient this year.Last edited by rodperezto; 03-07-2012, 04:59 AM.ephemeralComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Online Impressions
Just played a game with someone in Winnipeg (I'm in Kansas City) and the lag was terrible. Tough to hit, tough to pitch, and we had all kinds of issues fielding. We're planning on trying another game at some point, but it was by far the worst lag I've had yet.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Online Impressions
That's what happened near the end of the game I mentioned above your post. Now that you mention it, I think it happened in the 7th inning in my game as well. Wonder if that's just a coincidence or if something else happens during the 7th.Comment
