oops, i figured the game locking up with the red traffic indicator was the other person trying to do whatever cheesers do.

so I left it in that state for maybe 20 minutes or so and it finally said connection to so and so was lost hit x to return to the lobby. last time i checked it doesn't recognize that game as having been played. oh well, i was up two runs in the 8th.

and my first game i quit, because i choose the pirates and i was on the road. so i should be hitting right, but it had me pitching as the rays and even with meter pitching, im using pulse.

very strange (maybe i chose the wrong team). so i quit and it gave me the loss....but here's the good part, i checked my game history and it shows me as choosing the pirates on the road against the rays! LOL WTF?

I'm hating the slight delay every single time I swing and the delay in the pitch cursor.

Had one quit on me probably because I was throwing a lot of balls but it wasn't intentional, it was because of the delay compared to the smooth gameplay offline.

The lag is not as bad as last year but online is def. not smooth.

The total of 3 games I've played so far online had the yellow line on the top indicating average connection. Haven't seen green yet.

Yea trying to hit any pitcher with a good FB is a joke, the lag is pretty bad especially when it comes to hitting. Good side is its only the second day out......

I'd say I lost one game due to the pitch cursor delay, and one game because of a throwing error due to lag (The fielding was so quick I had to decide whether to throw it to 2nd or 1st and the throwing window was so short I ended up throwing an error and that was the game.)

So I am starting to like the online a bit more. I am 4-0 in DD and 3-1 in quick ranked matches. I should be 6-0 in DD and like 6-1 in quick though. It is also sad everyone keeps quitting on me when I take the lead. I am batting above .250, which is an amazing feat considering how hard it is to hit this year online. Some players online are just bad though. They have no basic baseball IQ, try to steal on 1st pitch every time, never hit their cut off men, have the same pitching sequence, no patience at the plate, bunting with 2 strikes, etc.

finally got a whole game in without the connection dropping.

it was Dodgers(me) v Yankees(opponent). i lost 2-0 but had some pretty good AB's. he just made a few more plays than i did, but errors killed me (i had 3).

what i noticed:
- no lag except when batting (slight lag)
- going into the highlights after the game i checked a few of the AB's i had with kemp and i noticed something odd. a few of the pitches went right through my bat. this must be some kind of glitch.
- another thing i noticed while watching replays is that the ball stops right when it gets to the bat and just sits there. does this whenever you make contacts. another weird glitch.

Strange though, because this was the problem with '11 out of the box last year, but they addressed it somehow, where it was very playable after a few weeks.

If they addressed it by the end of '11 shouldn't the same lag free environment carry over to '12? I understand it is a Peer-to-Peer online connection, but, they definitely 'fixed' the online batting lag after the first few weeks of '11

Is it now server based on SCEA San Diego,s part or is it still Peer-to-Peer for is year?

from my understanding they changed it to dedicated servers and dropped peer-to-peer.

Welp my first foray into online baseball this year wasn't positive. Only got 2.1 innings in then there was a "Traffic Delay" followed by the game seemingly just freezing up. I will give it a go later. Probably will just go with the fast play option I was rushing through and didn't change it from broadcast. But naturally I was disappointed that I couldn't finish the game.

Well day 2 was much better than day 1 online wrt to game disconnecting. Day 2 I was able to play 4 games. The last 2 were buttery smooth and we were able to complete both games! The first game was smooth also and we got into the 5th inning but then my opponent had to leave and requested a friendly quit. So even though that game wasn't finish it wasn't because of a disconnect. My second game also was smooth and we both have a wired connection but in the 3rd or 4th inning the game freezes, traffic delay....disconnected.

On Day 1 I think I only got one game to finish which was smooth but the other 3 games were all disconnected.

I will say this I have not experienced much lag at all in all my games so that's good news.

I will also say that I feel the timimg window is off again this year. I am late on just about everything, but especially fastballs. So frustrating knowing a low fastball is coming and timing it right just to have a weak foul ball to the opposite field time and time again.

I do like the new camera angle as it does help with pitch recognition as I have walked a few more times than I would have if it was MLB 11. The pitch speed does seem a notch slower but still way too fast for my taste.

Man this game is glorious, especially for baseball fanatics. I exclusively play online as I don't have the time to get into all the other great modes this game has to offer. I just pray that SCEA can rectify the online situation.

I been loving online so far. I am 11-0 in DD and every game has came down to me getting late clutch hits. I don't I have allowed a run in my past 5-6 games either. I think the most runs I allowed were 2 and that was in a 15 inning game where my opponent scored both of his runs off errors that came home to score off of suicide squeezes...pretty lame if you ask me. Which brings me to my next point.....


The online needs to be put on Veteran or the next lower difficulty with guess pitch off. I don't know if it is on all-star or what, but I should be crushing my opponents. A typical box score for me is 8 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts, while my opponent has 0 runs, 2 hits, 0 walks, and 15 strikeouts. This means I am putting the ball in play constantly, but it is either right at someone or the infield makes an incredible play. People rely on stolen bases, drag bunts, suicide squeezes, etc. way too much in this game. I love this part of baseball, but not every freaken game. The online is kind of catering to the beginners, IMO. They need to tone down the defensive speed or something, because it is way too hard to find base hits in this game. It'd be different if I were making weak contact, but I am not. I am drilling the ball in the gap, while my opponent chases it down. Or I hit a line drive that looks like is going over the SS's head, but he goes back and catches it. Or I drill a ball to 3b as he fields the 1 hopper perfectly. Or I hit the ball in the whole and every SS does a Derek Jeter fade away throw on target every time to throw me out...I could go on and on, but I just wish to see some variety. I haven't seen 1 HR in DD either and I have hit perfect, superb timing, using Power, with power hitters and the ball just dies at the warning track. Is this a glitch or something? I also don't understand the PCI. I just lost a quick ranked match 2-0 where the guy beat me on a HR that the ball was up and away in Youklis' cold zone and he pulled it to left center for a HR. I looked at the feedback and his PCI was left down the middle of the plate and wasn't even where the pitch went, but they gave him a HR for it? Could someone explain that? The guy struck out 15 times and drew 1 walk, while I struck out 4 times and had 2 walks. Yet I lose.....

Like I said, I am loving the online. The features, presentation, etc. are addictive and satisfying. I am finding myself wanted to mess with DD whenever I am off my PS3 and that is all I am thinking about. I love editing my team, uniform, and repping the midwest. But I am sick of barely winning 1-0, 2-0, etc. when I should have blown out most of my opponents. I guess my biggest complaint is I don't understand the PCI and the fielder's have way too much range in this game. They react way too fast, especially the infield. Anyone else agree?

I just tried my first game it was good
I had one abat then hit a home run on a 2-2 pitch then he quit
There was almost no button lag for batting with analog it did feel good.

I've played one game so far and it was silky smooth. Only issue I had was the pulse pitching. Pitching on HOF was a BIG "B".

Very impressed with the lack of lag. Hopefully this keeps up!!!

Guys,Guys,Guys! really? all right lack of lag is better this year BUT since beginning of online for the show its nowhere near offline timing. Notice when your about to hit the ball there is no animation for the bat making contact with the ball thus preventing you from timing your hitting to say, hit to the opposite field! Online is horrible just for this fact! I notice everyone has low BA and low ERA because hit timing BLOWS!!!
