I'm hard-wired. While not perfect, it's much better than MLB 11.

I have never played the show online. I tried my first game yesterday. 0-0 going to top of 8. I get two runs and then get the red "traffic" thing and disconnect. Is there any way to tell if the other person quit or it was just a bad connection? There were no problems up until I took the lead so I am skeptical but who knows.

I thought I would give DD a go so I played an online game, the lag was ok, nowhere near as good as most online games I play but it was acceptable considering what I had read in this thread. Despite that I decided to quit the game halfway through because the guy I was playing against was constantly bunting and stealing bases so the game was just no fun whatsoever.

I guess it doesn't matter what game you play cheesers are out there ready to frustrate you and do anything to win. I know there are players out there who will play sim and are just out to enjoy themselves but I'm not interested in meeting those cheesers who just waste my time so i'm not sure i'll return to online in The Show this year.

Lol how is that cheesing? People doing things that gives them the best chance to win? Shame on them! Unless, they are lag switching you or something then I see no problem with playing small ball. Besides do you blame them when it is virtually impossible to hit HR's in DD? I don't like to do drag bunts a lot, but I do tons of hit and runs and I am very good at it. I also will attempt SB's with my fast guys, unless they have Yadier behind the plate.

DD is almost like a youth baseball league. No HR's, tons of SB's and bunts, etc. It is still enjoyable nonetheless.

I'm not saying you can't play small ball but trying to bunt virtually every pitch, stealing all bases at every opportunity? Cheesing maybe the wrong word, I don't know but it sure isn't fun to play against I know that much. If you or anyone else enjoys that then good luck to you but it's certainly not how I want to spend the few hours I get of free time every night.

Agreed man. You'll meet much better people. Losing is no big deal seriously who cares.

I know it can be annoying, but when people are attempting to do this you know they aren't that good. You can manually bring your 3b in if they do this the whole game and I doubt they have much luck bunting.

I have to say online has been very smooth for me since day 1. I have played four games since and have not experienced any crazy lag, although there still seems to be a frame loss as the pitch approaches the plate. Still late on pitches that seemed to be timed perfectly, like when you recognize a curve all and wait for the break before swinging only to have a late swing. I think the game the way it is, expects you to make a decision on pitch type way too early.

It's basically called not respecting the game. Nothing wrong with bunting and stealing but to do it on every pitch is just a real cheap way to play. Basically it shows the person playing has no respect for the sport or the way the game is meant to be played. It's sad but true with all online games that some just look to exploit any possible advantage when playing. Maybe they think SCEA is sending them a gift for being in the overall top 100 at the end of the season. Who knows. But bunting with your #3 and #4 hitters with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, is this small ball?! What professional MLB team would ever do that?

That's why my advice would be to find guys on this forum who play the game the right way. Problem solved. Don't let 1 or 2 bad games against a few knuckleheads ruin the online experience for you.

IMO this should be normal expectation of any video game played online. Just do the "fundamental" thing, play your game and try you best to get the win.

Secondly, the vast amount of consumers that play the game...with a great range in age group...we can't expect all the have the knowledge of the sport or players to manage a team as a MLB manager would. And they aren't managing their team versus another MLB manger when they play. Some ppl try to capitalize on Human stupidity, carelessness, and low awareness. For instance, why throw a ball in the strike zone if a player doesnt have the discipline to take the pitch. No reason to give him something to hit if he's that terrible.

They are just doing what they can to win the game. All players arent trying to be cheap or even know they are doing anything wrong. On the other hand, some are...just play your game, get the W, learn from your experience and move on to the next opponent.

If you aren't in the mindset to deal with online opponents, don't play online until you are...it limits the frustration, and becomes enjoyable. Don't play your self into needless frustration.
