I've lowered my pitch speed to zero. There's no shame in it. It's all relative so it's still just as hard to hit a fastball when you're expecting a curve or vice versa. I definitely think the need to lower it has a ton to do with input lag on my tv, but game mode looks like absolute crap, as it doesn't allow you to adjust any settings. I'd rather just lower the pitch speed than look at a jaggy mess.

My HDTV has no game mode feature

I honestly have no idea if I'm suffering from a lag issue, but I know I'm having more problems keeping up with pitches this year than ever before.

I started out lowering it to 2, as the Armor & Swords sliders suggest, but I was always in front of everything. I've found a good balance for me at 3. Like someone else said, it's nothing to be ashamed of. I am still behind fastballs sometimes and in front of changeups. I can just hit a lot more consistently with pitch speed at 3. Just like adjusting the other sliders, it's all about what works for you to get realistic results.

Anddddd never mind, I just found where game mode was hidden on my TV. I've owned it for over a year now and never knew that was there... go figure...

Bobhead, you mentioned that you have pitch speed at 4 on AS. Are you still able to pull inside 93+ mph fastballs?

Not always. They catch me off-guard a lot, since I don't really do much guessing, but if I'm thinking about it I can pull it. I've pulled a few, but it certainly is hard.

I've been using the TNK sliders and i believe it's at three and that seems to work great. I may bump it to four as i get out in front of a lot of offspeed stuff, but at default, i seemed late 90% of the time.

I don't know, I'm still torn between 2 and 3 on All-Star. I was at 2 last year but I'm 31 so maybe my reflexes aren't as good as they used to be.

I've actually messed around with raising and lowering it the last few days and there's one thing that I've noticed - your hit variety changes dependent on the speed.

I'm finding myself pulling the ball a ton more with it lower and very late with it raised. Obvious enough, eh?

But that tells me that my timing, despite seeing so many different pitchers and pitch types, seems to be constant. There is either too much of a drop of in speed on the pitches/timing or they need an additional timing mechanic added on to the user timing. Just a slight variation from the user timing. In reality the user would never be able to tell the difference and we would see an increase in hit variety. Heck, it may already be there but if it isn't, it should be.

This is my issue I hope. My Gaming tv is an older HDTV and I can't find game mode any where? I play in an online league with HOF hitting and I am late or very late on 90% (or higher ) on all pitches.

I can deal with losing but that is just frustrating. I have a brand new TV in the bedroom but I don't want to have to take over that tv also just to play a game.

Offline I have it at 1 so it's tough making the adjustment to online. My eyes and reflexes are not what they used to be.

I found myself in a similar situation. I just thought I shouldn't be pulling an outside 98 mph high fastball with the pitch speed at 2. I felt just tad bit guilty.

Actually I found the Game Mode feature on my TV shortly after making that post, but on my TV, Game Mode doesn't have any effect on the lag or timing of anything. All it does is change the color/contrast settings on my TV, and it was already turned on when I found it.
