i dont factor in potential when it comes to veterans....for the most part, they all have a body of work to go on..when im on the fence on a guy, then i go research the guy's stats but for the most part is just an educated opinion....i dont take into consideration the quality of the opponent's farm system..for example if i wanted to trade Carlos Lee to Team A i wouldn't ask for a lesser package if their farm system is ranked lower then Team B's....but i do factor in the time of year in the season/standings, level of desperation, is there a chance that the team might wanna keep that player in the offseason, etc...i always put my foot in the other team's shoes when evaluating a trade....also, i dont mind SOMETIMES *overpaying* for a guy on paper so my opinion on a guy might be a little different then another evaluator.....case in point, i traded for AJ Pierzynski in my franchise and gave the White Sox 2 B's....is a 35-year old catcher batting in the 260's with a lower-teens hr total and less then 50 rbi's and would probably be let go in the offseason worth 2 B's? no chance...but i didnt mind because in my franchise, all the other catching options were atrocious and if i were the White Sox, i'd immediately pick up on that nugget

Wow, you trade a lot.
An A and two B's, and don't even think
about Cano.

Yeah, it was tough writing that for those two. Bourjos' speed is worth a low B, though.
Yeah, I know. I think I posted a LOT more when I got on here.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Disagree. Former all-star hitter in Ramirez who can easisly turn his career around as he is only 28 and proven. Has a friendly contract.
Hamels expiring contract, the Phillies payroll is through the roof and they were not going to sign him. Polanco, aging 3B on his last year or 2 max, another expiring contract.
Not a bad trade at all.Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
What's up guys. I've been itching to get involved in this thread for a few months. Finally got the CPU offering each other trades in my franchise, so I really need yall advice/help.
Okay here is the first CPU to CPU proposal...
Date - May 10th, 2012
Blue Jays (17-14 - First Place. They signed RP - Mike Gonzalez from free agency 2 days ago, so it looks like they are trying to get rid of Darren Oliver and a struggling JP Arencibia. They are asking for some of the Twins young prospects. Details below.)
Blue Jays send:
RP - Darren Oliver (41 Y/O - B Overall - A Potential) (12 GM/13.1 IP/18 SO/6 BB/2.03 ERA/.250 AVG)
C - J.P Arencibia (26 Y/O - C Overall - A Potential) (.181/.218/.266/ 2 HR/9 RBI in 27 Games)
Twins (16-15 - 2nd place - 2.5 GB. Twins have a 4.00 Bullpen ERA and might be looking to improve their young bullpen. Including JP Arencibia into the package means he will be Joe Mauer backup which seems like a better option that the current catcher Drew Butera who is a D overall with C potential)
Twins send:
3B Miguel Sano (18 Y/O in AA ball - D Overall - A Potential (.302/.382/.437/ 3 HR / 14 RBI in 26 Games)
RP Carlos Gutierrez (25 Y/O in AAA ball - C Overall - B Potential) (12 GM/9.2 IP /6 SO / 4 BB / 5.59 ERA / .257 AVG)
--------
What do you guys think? Is this a fair trade?Madden Breakdowns Full YOUTUBE Playlist

I wonder if my Blue Jays fandom is showing..... Yeah, it's a fair trade by The Show logic, but if you're going by names, Twins LOSE BAD. This is something MSUboy11 would propose."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I am going to resign Hamels otherwise I would have never made the deal. It is not a 3 month rental.
So I loved getting a potential Ace for a guy I can't stand. BTW I totally forgot to mention I got a AA SP (name escapes me) "A" potential. I will post his name tomorrow. So I received 2 SP (one a star now and potential future star) and a 3 month rental on Polanco if he decides to retire after this season.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 07-04-2012, 09:11 PM.Now Playing on PS5:
