Well as much as i hate to say it, (Gulp!!) i have to turn off my crutch (Guess pitch). Without it on however I am really afraid of becoming a pure hacker who swings at everything that comes out of the pitchers hand. Well as much as it pains me do to so, i guess it is off to the cages with me for my next days off.

I would much rather take that time and get some actual games in seeing those i just started my franchise, but learning how to hit is much more important.

Where should i start in batting practice free, timing, etc on down the line.. and how do you know when your ready to go get in an actual game? what success rate on each mode do you have to have and how many times do you have to repeat it to say that you have mastered it?

Hitting with guess pitch on for me sucks. I see a billion pitches, but I will never strike out, walk or hit the ball hard on it.

I feel as if it is so gimmicky too.

My last three games I Scored runs of 5,4 and 2 which is a major improvement.

well i can only hope that i can be that successful at this hitting thing. i have been leaning on this feature since before this series was out way back with ASB 05 and even back into the Hgh heat series. So you can see my mental dependency on this kinf of feature.

I have tried hitting in the batting cages before and i just become a button mashing hacker but i know i have to get back to and an re-tune my brain to get off my mental crutch. Well by the time i have time to get back at it i will have a new pair of glasses to work with so hopefully that will help some.

I use the timing method. In my first couple seasons (RTTS) in AA and AAA I was really having a problem with patience and timing. I was chasing too much garbage. Then I saw a post on here advising really concentrating on watching the ball leave the pitcher's hand. That's helped alot. Now, literally every time I come to bat I think to myself "ok watch the ball leave the hand, and relax and be patient". That literally flipped a switch for me. My 3rd season (still in AAA) saw me hitting .398. Then I just finished my rookie season with the Blue Jays and I finished .305 with 36 HR's and over 100 RBI's......and got AL ROTY. Although I still draw almost no walks, I haven't gotten that patient. I had up around 100 strike outs for the season having started almost every game and just over 180 hits.

Lots of ideas here but in my opinion, the method will be different for everyone.

I don't have any specific methods or tips.
I use guess pitch sometimes, others I don't.

My current RTTS player (just after the All-Star break) has .421 average and 31 HR. Leading the league in all 3 triple crown categories.
I'm a real swinger though, I'm not as patient as other people describe. I get very few strikeouts and very few walks. My most common out is usually a flyout to deep outfield.

My only tip would be to not think about it too much.
Use guess pitch, but always guess the same place. If you guess wrong, you should be able to at least pick the general location and if it's going to be in the zone or not. If you aren't sure, don't swing.

Just have fun with it...the more you try and analyse or change your routine or methods, the less success you'll have I think.

What and where are the TNK sliders to be found? After reading these tips, it looks like I may have to change to analog/zone hitting, as using Timing, I strike out all the time, rarely get a walk, and often leave 10 players on base in a shutout game for the CPU. ANY tips on improving hitting are much appreciated. I am using AS level, but not sure going to a lower level would increase my hitting.

Just bumping this if people are still having difficulty hitting this year like I am.

I'm only having difficulty with changeups. They are slowly killing the game for me. I know in real life they often say it's the arm action that fools the hitter but in the Show it seems that changeups sort of jump out of the hand of the pitcher them slow down a bit on the way to the plate. Couple this with the jacked up timing in this years game and my swing info still says I'm early even when i wait back and try to look for this pitch. I also think 10-12mph difference from the fastball is a little too much and adds to the problem. I really wish they would bring back the ability to work on a particular pitch in BP.
