Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I've had a blast with this game since '08, but this year I can't figure it out. I've tried Armor and Swords sliders (both straight All Star and the hybrid with Vet hitting), the perfect HOF sliders and everything in between. The bottom line is that there is just no offense for me or the CPU. I'm drawing walks, but hitting rockets right at people. My franchise batting avg. through 7 games is about .185, but my ERA is about 2.70, so I'm 3-4. I'm really at a loss.Tags: None -

So your basing this years game off of 7 games?
Do you really care where I sent this from?MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
NHL: Dallas Stars
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
I own a band check it outComment

I'm not sure this is bashing. It's obvious something changed. Look at the other threads saying the same things. Low hum hitting, low CPU hitting, all by folks that loved previous versionsComment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I have adjusted. Would you mind sharing the level and sliders you're playing with?Comment

i think this year people need to make their own slider set to match how they play. i based my sliders on the ones i used last year, teeaked them to the type of outcomes i expect and i get a varied amount of games.
pitching duels, high scores, defensive foolishness. not perfect but good enough for me to enjoy my $60 investment

???????
I am smashing the cover off the ball this year. What really helped, is I warmed up on '11 prior to the '12 release. It was like my personal spring training.Comment

You can't hit. If you think you can hit and you're getting screwed lower down hitting a level. We've all sucked at hitting (I still do).Comment

I have never been able to pitch but I always tore it up hitting now as a team I would usually hit. 350 now I hit. 250 but my era was usually around 4 plus now after a month and a half my era is 1.87

Have played this game the last number of years and have noticed a difference in offense. The majority of my games are low scoring, low hit games for both the CPU and I. I've also noticed a real lack of extra base hits by both sides. Seems like its either a single or a homer.
Its weird cause I only starting noticing the trend in hit variety after playing 10 games in my franchise. Wasn't as noticeable playing exhibition games for whatever reasonComment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Im using TNK's sliders and i'm having no problems at all. Here's my first 3 games of my 'chise:
NYY 8
TB 2
NYY 13
TB 3
NYY 6
TB 4
BTW i lowered pitch speed to 3 and using a custom camera.
Follow my franchise to see how its going! Its in my signatureCanadiens | Yankees | DolphinsComment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Yea, I can agree with the OP. The game is fantastic overall, but it is different. Like some have alluded to, the stadiums do seem a bit smaller this year and even with fielding speed at 2, many balls are caught in the outfield routinely.
I do love the ball physics this year, but hitting a double down the line is almost non-existent even with the solid hit slider jacked up for both sides.
My only two gripes are franchise start times and how the ball slows down in the infield. Although my sliders are very good (for me at least), I'm hoping they can do something about this.Angels= 2025 World Series Champions!!Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I was formerly experiencing the same thing, but A&S sliders actually broke me out of that funk. If anything has truly changed, I assume it's due to the overhauled ball physics. That's the only major difference from last year.
It remains to be explained, though, how some people have this problem while many don't. If it were a flaw with the physics engine, certainly everyone would be seeing it. I'm more inclined to blame inappropriate sliders/difficulty settings mixed with confirmation bias, small sample sizes, and the inherent variability of baseball.
Why, that's not realistic at all. The Yanks won three too many. You should adjust your sliders.Last edited by jimmyl008; 04-08-2012, 11:09 PM.Comment
