Re: MLB 12 The Show - Patch Impressions Thread

I restarted my Marlins Franchise last night with the OSFM opening Day set.

I played 7 games last night in a Show marathon (was out of town for a week) and I am 7-3 and the game plays fantastic.

I am glad the start times are now correct, the CPU is not quick pitching anymore and I don't know if they juiced up the bats a little, but I am hitting the ball better and games are more varied than before. In my pre patch chise I was seeing a ton of 2-1 3-2 games. In fact I lost 5 straight 2-1 games.

    Now 6-4, 10-6, 4-2, 6-0 4-3, 2-1, 8-6, 5-2, 2-1, 1-0, 12-6

    Those were the 10 scores.

People were getting random freezes at the end of games way before the patch even came out guys. Let's calm down with trying to blame the patch for Hurricane Katrina.

Theres no way i could manage that lol, even if i wanted to, i take around 2 hours to play each game, really take my time and actually find it somewhat mentally exhausting.

The thought of playing 14 hours straight, with that level of concentration...

        One day lol.

Cant say I like the patch. It feels like an overboard offensive game now. I was really enjoying the game before.

Why did I upgrade to the patch? I'm really kicking myself for that one.

Started at 6pm and finished around 1:30am.....then popped in a game of 2K5 LOL.

I was starving to play video games last night after not playing for 6 days.

In any case I started my series against the Cubs today and lost game one to Garza 3-1....that guy is a tough mother. Josh Johnson get's a tough luck loss.

The only thing I am still seeing is the short right fielder being able to throw out the base runner at first ( I don't throw it). That is still IMO a bug.

Anybody notice that with the pitch delay setting at slowest there are sometimes two camera cuts between pitches? When they cut to the batter, you can see the catcher throwing the ball to the pitcher and then it cuts to the pitcher catching the ball. Pitcher also shakes off again.

Next time you start up the game, you'll be prompted to download the patch and any roster updates that are available from SCEA.
Yes, I've been here since 2003. No, I don't post much. I'm too busy playing the games.

I'm generally pleased with the patch. It seems to have fixed the issues that were really bothering me through 3 games (granted, small sample size). I went back to default sliders to get a good feel for things.

One game I was mashing and hit 4 hr's, the next two I struggled to scratch a couple of runs so it has a good variety so far.

                            Likes:
fewer spastic infield animations leading to closer plays at first, doubles down the lines and in the gaps (with default sliders except pitch speed -2), more balls deflecting off of defenders gloves, start times are great with different shadows and lighting.

Hopefully next year they can work on the outfielder depth/outfield size. Still a problem but I can deal with it.

If connected, option to update game will happen automatically. New rosters are automatically available for download if you don't have the latest set, but I recommend Knight's in the vault.

Thanks y'all, and mad for asking twice... Didn't see my question in the thread. I did get the patch, however, I'm curious as how I download the current rosters provided by Operation Sports? They have the full minors and opening day roster. I want that!!
