You're correct, and I believe there would be no freezing the following April. I believe once the offseason starts, the game "forgets" all the specific data from games you played, and just combines it into lump sum data for the entire season - you no longer have access to box scores or any of that stuff, so there's nothing that would cause future problems. I hope that makes any sense.

Majin - I'd say you're in the clear then.
And yeah new files are safe.
Just remember that if you transfer the file to your Vita (which has no patch), then transfer back, it's the equivalent of having started your file before the patch. In other words, do not transfer files between the Vita and PS3, or else you risk being exposed to the freeze bug. This would only apply from now until a Vita patch is released.
My plan was to just not download the patch at all, but if this is the case this is very upsetting. My primary motivation for getting a Vita was for the cross platform saves with The Show. This featuring currently being more or less eliminated (if that's the case, I haven't had a chance to try the cloud sans patch yet), leaves me with a $250 paper weight at the moment.
I'm not trying to be a whiner here, but even those staunchly defending this game at every turn must see that this really is a major, major issue.Comment

Ok, so we are unable to transfer save files between the PS3 and Vita unless we download the patch then?

Theres nothing stopping you from transferring files though.Comment

Sorry if this has been asked. What if we technically started our franchise pre patch but have yet to play/simulate any games yet during regular season (only simulated thru spring training). I have been working on setting up my lineups and rotations before I start actually playing.Last edited by mjsthebest; 04-14-2012, 02:00 PM.Comment

You should have nothing to worry about then, as long as you don't load that file on your PS Vita between now and whenever the Vita Patch comes out.Comment

Re: Freezing issues after the new patch (Franchise and RTTS)
Where did it freeze: Online OS League Games
When did it freeze: 2 times, both times it happened when my team (Angels) were up to bat.
1st game I was the home team and we got through 4 Detroit batters with no freeze. Then I come to bat with my leadoff hitter, get a hit and the game freezes. League game 2 of the series is on hold until commish restarts so we go on to game 3.
2nd game (game 3 of the series), we are now in Detroit. 1st inning lead off hitter gets a hit, LF fields the balls to throw to the cut-off man and bam, frozen again.
Edit: 1st game was a day game, second game was a night/overcast gameGT: BIG CAROLINA23

Correct, the corruption only happens in the specific file, your actual disc data, other game files, and option files are unaffected.
You should have nothing to worry about then, as long as you don't load that file on your PS Vita between now and whenever the Vita Patch comes out.Comment

I understand that is still POSSIBLE to transfer the save files, but if it fubars my franchise then it's not exactly a realistic option anymore.
Also, I just tested and it is in fact not possible to use the cloud without patching.
Either I'm missing something, or this is pretty ridiculous for those users who make use of both versions of the game.Comment

Re: Freezing issues after the new patch (Exhibition, Franchise and RTTS)
You'll still be able to play your franchise if you are past April, just don't look at APril schedules or box scores and it should be fine. I recommend you save a second file and test it first, but I think you'll be fine. All of this corruption stuff only pertains to April games, and only hangs the game when it tries to load said corrupted data.Comment

Re: Freezing issues after the new patch (Exhibition, Franchise and RTTS)
Well this is pretty annoying. Started a new franchise after patch to avoid freezing issue and was at the schedule screen and accidentally hit R2 and it switched teams and then froze. How about a fix SCEA?Comment

Quick question, I started a franchise with the jays before the patch, downloaded the patch, I'm still in April and have a series coming up (in April) against Seattle. Will this mess up my franchise? Thanks.Comment

Re: Freezing issues after the new patch (Exhibition, Franchise and RTTS)
Ok guys. I finally have an a pretty definite answer to the freezing problem. I played last night and it was just fine but I had not tried too look at a boxscore. I looked at the boxscore for the Astros and everything was just fine. But then when I looked at the boxscore for the Mariners is when the game froze.
So do not look at the boxscores in the month of April for the Mariners or Athletics and you should be fine. Looking at boxscores for other teams for the month of April is fine. Just don't do it for the Mariners or Athletics and if you happened to play a game against the Mariners or Athletics then don't look at the boxscores in the month of April for that team either.
EDIT: Just did a test franchise with the Athletics. Simmed the first week of the season. No problems. Looked at the boxscores. No problems.Atlanta Braves
