I know that as recently as 12 that pitchers learned new pitches in the minor leagues if they had slots available. But I'm not sure about 13-14, I haven't been as big into player development as I was in years past.

I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

In his third consecutive appearance Kyle Farnsworth has come in for the save and loaded the base.. And got out of it.

He may soon be the first closer in history to lose his job while sporting a 0.00 ERA and perfect record in saves (5/5). His 1.67 Whip is scary and he definitely makes things interesting every chance he gets!

I started with e Astros. I had a player list in mine that I would be getting once i narrowed down my team.

Third or Shortstop - Yulieski Gourriel - 82ovr
Starting pitcher - Jamie Garcia - Cardinals - 72 ovr
        OR Tim Lincecum ovr 80
Relief Pitcher - Caleb Thielbar - Twins - 71 ovr
Relief Pitcher - Joe Ortiz - Rangers - 68 ovr
        1st Base/Catcher - Jesus Montero - Mariners - 71ovr
        Starting Pitcher - Mark Montgomery - Rays - 69ovr

I also unloaded 5 prospects to the Rays for Price. So now with Price and Garcia Im looking forward to the long season. Also Caleb Thielbar is a must pick up very very soild rp

          Re: Da Astros

Im in the middle of spring training in my second year. My only FA signings was a LF rookie who for some reason was not drafted and is a 76 ovrl. I also picked up Marc Rzepczynski through the rule 5 draft.

The first 3 spots in the rotation is set with Cobb, Cozart, and Olberholtzer. Feldman, Celmens, Peacock, and Wojineski (spelling?) are battling it out for the last 2 spots. I plan on bringing Appeal up halfway thru the season barring any injuries or bad performance. Foltynewicz is hitting 102 mph on the radar. That might be my future closer, and he is only 23. Feldman is useful because I like using his sinker on Leftys. So either he will get the 4th spot or will be a lefty specialist. But, im more then likely trading him when I decide to bring Appeal up.

          My projected linup is:

          C
          J. CASTRO
          Corporon

          1ST
          SINGLETON

          2ND
          ALTUVIE
          N. Fontana

          3RD
          DOMINGUIZ
          Castellonos

          SS
          VILLAR
          M. Gonzalez

          LF
          PRESSLEY
          GROSSMAN

          CF
          FOWLER

          RF
          SPRINGER

          DH
          CARTER

Pressley and Grossman are platooning in LF. Pressley hitting against Lhp, Grossman against Rhp. I have Joc Pederson and the 76 ovrl rookie in LF during spring training. If one of them can impress me in spring, I will keep him up and designate either Pressley or Grossman.

Fowler has officially pissed me off. Coming off a year where he hit .285 with 9 HR and about 65 rbi, he wanted 7 mil. I offered 4 and he never accepted so we went to arbitration. I offered something like 4.5 mil but Fowler still won and was awarded the whole 7 mil. Mind you, he only made 2 mil the season before and he didnt make the AS game. I felt the 2 mil raise was enough. I should have thought of this earlier but I think im going to trade him. Maybe for some bullpen help. Or, because I like Desmond Jennings, I could try for that deal. Hopefully, I can swap them straight up. I could also throw in a prospect on my end, and a reliever on theirs. That way I get what I want while not cheating the cpu. Plus I have multiple ML talent in LF

            Re: Da Astros

Started a franchise with the Astros last night like I usually do and my expectation were to be the worst team and get the #1 overall pick. I was going to sim the first season, or two, or three until the team could compete for the division. The first year didn't go as planned. Finished the season 80-82. I'm not exactly sure how I was a .500 team because I was last in every category except for speed.
So I went into the off-season, only signed one FA I believe (a reliever, the stros bull pen is crap, just like in real life) and got onto the 2nd season. I thought last season was a fluke so I set my expectations low again. Again I was wrong. Finished the season 81-81. This time I even traded Fowler and Jesse Crain at the deadline and of course after that we had a great 2nd half. My prospects are starting to come up now but the past two years I have been stuck with two mid 1st round picks. Carlos Correa is about to debut in his firs ML season so maybe since my first two season were fairly good, maybe I can try and run for a wild card spot.
BTW I barely made any roster changes so I was really surprised when I had to back to back .500 seasons. In all honesty I didn't even try to make ML roster any better, I was going to be fine with the #1 pick but I guess I can't complain too much, I mean we will be a winning team any season now.

              Re: Da Astros

Apparently, someone got into the Astros Baseball Operations database and leaked a ton of documents pertaining to various trade talks around players like Gregory Polanco, Dylan Bundy and Giancarlo Stanton.

              Deadspin atricle about the documents

And just when we thought the Astros were getting better haha.

Oh my god those trades are worse than some things I've been proposed in fantasy ball.

My personal favorite has to be this one:

[Nationals GM Mike] Rizzo called [Luhnow] to inquire on Harrell. JL told him we would still need a headliner like Giolito because we still value Harrell highly. Rizzo did not respond immediately.
Lucas Giolito for Lucas "Milk Carton" Harrell is absolutely nuts.

It said possibly just George Springer and Carlos Correa for Giancarlo. Holy crap. I thought there would have to be more, not that those guys are bad or anything
