    Re: Da Astros

What's up my Astros brothers. I just started my franchise and about 20 games in. Using OSFM 3 pitch edits and only using human batting and swimming the pitching. I look forward to treating this mode as a quicker way to get through the season but it's not using quick counts (I'm not a fan).

Anybody else out there still playing with the stros?

I'm in 2022 with my Astros Chise but I am thinking of starting a new one and using 30 team control. I don't like starting over because sometimes I lose interest but maybe not this time since controlling the bad trades and such will be something new for me.
I'm kinda still hoping for a patch for the budgets before I restart but if not I have some good house rules on keeping the budget realistic.

That's deep into your franchise. Did you play all your games? I've done 30 control in the past but it is time consuming. The time you spend checking each day is time you could be playing the game with the Astros IMO

No I don't play really any games during the season, just some playoff games. I've tried 30 team control before and I hear you man, it's very time consuming, that's why I'm still on the fence about it. It took me a long time before I got to the next season and I was simming every game.
I'm planning on playing more games per season and every playoff game if I do decide to start over.
I have to be patient I guess if I want to do it

I do hear you about the wacky trades though. It can be discouraging to see top prospects dealt for nothing. But I'm going to try to just ignore it and remember this a video game

One month down. Brought up Springer and Singleton at the same time, as our run production struggled lately. 2 wins later both got their first MLB hit.

Draft is soon. Who did you guys pick up in year one?

My first pick was a 1B named Andy House. He came in with a 75 ovrl and B potential.

                  Re: Da Astros

Have been running a Astros franchise in MLB13 for a while now. I'm in the dog days of summer in my 3rd season currently have a 1.5 game lead on the Rangers. First year I was totally hands off, just scouted and picked up some deals off the trade block. My first round pick was JJ Myers a lefty who came in at 72 with A pot. Now he is a 81 still has A potential, I'm leaving him in the minors for now but next year he's full on in the rotation. After year one I made some serious moves. Signed Brent Zobrist to a 2 yr 10 mil. deal, signed Scott Baker to a 3 yr deal, and a lot of bench/bullpen roles that helped me go 90-72 and win the AL West. Lost the series 3-1 and went into free agency looking to improve on stolen bases and walks (last in the league in both). Grabbed Brent Gardner on a 2 yr. 4 mill. deal and he improved my lineup drastically. My draft pick from year two was a CF (plan to move to corner OF) named Murray Dark. 69 over with A pot.

Here's my lineup, rotation, and top prospects:

                  1-LF Brent Gardner
                  2-2B Jose Altuve
                  3-RF Brent Zobrist
                  4-DH Chris Carter
                  5-C Jason Castro
                  6-3B Blake Dewitt
                  7-1B Brett Wallace
                  8-SS Marwin Gonzalez
                  9-CF George Springer

                  Bench
3B-Matt Dominguez (was the starter but hitting .195 and leads league in K's)
                  2B/SS/OF- Delino Deshields
C/3B/1B- Danny Valencia (moved to backup catcher)
                  OF/DH- Marlon Byrd
                  OF- Fernando Martinez

                  Rotation
                  1- Bud Norris (11-2, 2.9 ERA)
                  2- Scott Baker (8-5)
                  3- Jordan Lyles (7-6)
                  4- Brad Peacock (5-8)
                  5- Jarred Cosart (7-4)

                  Bullpen
Closer- Wesley Wright (34 saves, 2x AllStar, Delivery Man Award)
SetUp Guys - Tony Sipp, Jorge Rondon
MRP- Jordan Swagerty, Yoervis Medina, JP Howell,
Long Reliever - Alex White (3-0)

                  Top Prospects

LHP JJ Myers- Future 1 or 2 of rotation, nasty stuff I pitch great with him but he's very inconsistent while simming
CF Robbie Grossman- 72 ovr, B pot. Solid player but blocked by Springer. Will probably package with another top prospect for an AllStar 1B or 3B
OF Murray Dark - 70 ovr, A pot. Will be a 2 hole or 5 hole hitting corner outfielder in 2 years.
Ernesto Blanco - Random Free Agent I found who was listed as a 65 ovr 1B. Looked at his attributes and moved him to SS or 3B and he bumps up to a 73. A potential and he's only 24. Don't know where he's gonna go right now.
C Danny Voss - Switch Hitting Catcher with an 80 arm strength and accuracy. 66 ovr with B pot but he's a great defensive catcher, and an alright hitter for now. Putting all his training assignments on Hitting because he's already Above Average at catcher (defensively).

That's about it, I had my first bad draft didn't get a whole lot. My plans for the future are to resign Zobrist and Gardner and trade Grossman and Villar or Correa for an All Star 1B or 3B. Then I will make a push for a World Series while growing the farm to remain competitive. Thanks for reading this huge thing. Go stros!

                      Re: Da Astros

I just wrapped up 2014 and finished slightly over .500 in a season where I played one of every 5 games...

Actually, HOU was in or close to 1st place in the AL West until the wheels came off in August and September and the free fall to a distant 3rd began...

The thing that DID kind of bum me out was the fact that, although Springer hit .286 with 21 homers and 100 RBI's, he lost the ROY to TOR's Stroman, who had a 13-12 record with a 3.75 ERA...

I NEVER seem to win that with anyone...no matter how far ahead or how long they're at the top of that leader board...

In this instance, Springer lead that race all season, Stroman didn't appear to even in contention yet BOOM there ya go!

Oh well, enjoyed the team and season enough to try and tee it up again for 2015...

Yezzir, but do you think that his stats are superior to Springer's?

I'm not sure how they rate pitching versus everyday player stats for these kinds of awards either in the game or IRL...

I haven't really played The Show in several years but I've still bought the game each year. Finally popped 13 back in a couple weeks ago and started a season with the Astros.

Simmed the first season now gonna try and play as much of season 2 as I can.

                            Opening Day Roster 2014:

                            Jimmy Paredes
                            Jose Altuve
Corey Dickerson (picked up in rule 5 draft)
                            Chris Carter
                            Brett Wallace
                            JD Martinez
                            Jason Castro
                            Bobby Borchering
                            Ronny Cedeno
                            George Springer
                            Jonathan Villar
                            Matt Dominguez
                            Carlos Perez

                            Pitchers:
                            Bud Norris
                            Erik Bedard
                            Brad Peacock
                            Lucas Harrell
                            Rudy Owens

                            Paul Clemens
                            Jose Cisnero
                            Rhiner Cruz
                            Hector Ambriz
                            Xavier Cedeno
                            David Carpenter
                            Jose Veras

Got kinda frustrating because I forgot how the off season worked so I kept losing players I wanted to keep and had to start over. I messed up on the draft for the first season as well, but hopefully I can do better this season.
