They also show them in the 1st inning if you just watch the cut scenes and not go through them to fast.Comment

I was under the impression that said cut scene isn't in this year's game.Comment

Re: Umpire Personalities Thread
Okay, that was easier than I thought, here is an in-game screen shot of how it would work. Again, the red is the umps strike zone, you never "see" it, but it is running I guess invisibly and as you pitch you would start to notice that he was calling pitches inside (not over the plate) strikes and pitches on the outside (over the plate) balls. The strike zones for each up could be different. Giving high strikes vs low, outside vs inside etc. and the degree could be as minescule as an inch or as great as a foot, it is all on the umps. It would make variable umps actually variable.
I love the idea, but I think the implementation is lacking a bit. To be honest, I haven't paid enough attention to who the umps are from game to game to really say either way, but I do notice that the "inconsistency is inconsistent". I want the umps to be inconsistent to a degree, but that inconsistency should be somewhat predictable within a game and from an "Umpire personality" standpoint.
I'll try to pay more attention going forward and see if I can verify these trends.Comment

Re: Umpire Personalities Thread
The other thing they need to do, which would be VERY easy, would be to mix up the umpiring crew for a series when you play the same team for a three or four game set.
I should not have the same plate ump for all three games in Boston against the Rangers. The fact that the umpire have the different zones is cool, and the fact that there are 14 of them is even more cool.
The fact that each stadium gets the same guy at the plate for every game... That is less cool.

Re: Umpire Personalities Thread
I will check that. It seemed to me that when you played at Fenway, you got XXXX at the plate. When you played at Wrigley it was YYYY... but that who was always at that field as the plate umpire.
Will fire up 5 exhibition games at Fenway and see if they do indeed change from game to game.
