Re: OS Arbitration Panel Project 2012
Your franchise; Drabek and Arenciba for Matsuz and Tillman.
My franchise; Drabek and Arencibia for Matsuz, Paulino, and Schoop. (Not making this trade until I explore other options.)
If you hadn't traded Schoop, would agree to that second trade?"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: OS Arbitration Panel Project 2012
I just wanted to make clear, though, as your first post seems to be asking this: You do not have to be officially involved in the panel to propose a trade. That's the whole idea; a group of guys who know and/or are franchising with the teams they represent--not necessarily experts, just serious gamers who are offering you, the franchiser, a better alternative to the stupid trade AI in franchise mode. Some guys are getting into the role playing aspect, sending/receiving messages in the persona of the GM they represent; some do lots and lots of negotiating; some just keep it simple. If you read through the posts (I know there's a lot, but it's worth it--you can gloss over some of the more complex negotiations and just get a feel for what people are doing), you'll see the different methods. The one thing I try to keep in mind is that we on the panel are trying to help the franchiser proposing the trade get what they're after, but make them pay a fair price. My method is usually gather as much info as possible (I may know the Cubs, but I don't know the Cubs in YOUR universe), and then give options for both a "fair" deal and a "realistic" deal, because different players play differently. I.e., no, I don't think the Cubs are going to trade Garza or Castro (though some things they've said recently make me doubt that!), but if you are convinced Starlin is the key to your future, I feel it's my job to help you get him; I'm just going to tell you what it'll cost, and then say, "but the cubs most likely wouldn't make such a trade."
I will say, the Cubs are NOT one of the teams people are hot to trade with. So far it's basically been Garza people have been after, with a couple people asking after others. The Cubs of course, are sellers at this point, but they're trying to sell a bunch of pieces no one wants! I imagine a few requests might start rolling in for Soler; I can see Castro, Rizzo, Baez (if he's an A pot), maybe McNutt being sought after, but basically, not much in the cupboard that people will want any time soon. Nobody (ok, one person did) comes around asking about Soriano, Dempster, Marmol, etc., the pieces the Cubs really would move. But hey, jump on in, next time someone proposes a trade to the Cubs. Even if multiple reps respond to the same trade, that would be ok, as it would give the proposer some different options.
As for just open ended discussion of trades, the place for that would be the Trade Discussion thread, easy to find, usually near the top, where the discussion is more theoretical (we get theoretical on here a bit, but mostly we aim for the practical, just get the deal done), and you can get relatively quick, honest opinions on trades without necessarily negotiating back and forth.Comment
