Question to any moderators who may be reading...

Wondering if when we fill the entire MLB with users as owners if we would be permitted to start an "official" thread, as this one was obviously titled the "idea"... far from my thought to clutter up the message forum, rather to draw attention once we have a complete league of OS'ers involved in the project.

And thanks of behalf of everyone for the latitude to start this project in the early stages.

Just want to drop a line saying that if we need "interim" reps for the unreped teams I'd be cool filling in for Mets, Padres, and if the Nats still need one, I'll fill in as I have GM style knowledge for all those squads. If not cool just wanted to put that out there.

Well, the only "interim" tag I believe was because QB wanted to make sure this gets off the ground and is worth his time, to be honest.

Again, I'm just trying to guide things along, I don't think its my place to say it'd be wrong. I think the teams have been filling lightning quick (already have 18) to where it won't be necessary -- but no, I would have zero "problem" if an OS'er came in here and asked a Mets question and another teams representative filled in. And I know you personally have franchise knowledge of multiple teams, so don't take this a statement towards you -- but I would just hope that anyone "filling in" until we are full would have franchise play knowledge of the organization -- so that we are still providing the level of "simulation thought" as we're going for with this project.

I mean, I personally know a good deal about quite a few teams minor leagues systems in "real life" but am for the most part unaware of their statistical attributes and capabilities as far as MLB: The Show -- so for most teams, I wouldn't be providing the type of input we're looking for in the project. But for those that can until those teams are full, I'd just say thanks for being awesome. I just ran with Pete's idea because I thought it would help people have more fun -- I definitely don't want to tell others how to make this project work for them.

Thanks again for your participation and support... I know this has added a level of fun to an already amazing game for me, so I hope it does the same for others.

I would like to represent the Nationals. I have been following their system pretty closely and my favorite team (red sox) has plenty of reps already

I could "interim" for the astros if needed. They are my main franchise team and I've done a bunch o research on their farm system and i think i could represent them well.

So I'm most likely about to start an Orioles 'chise and as an O's fan I already have background knowledge of the team/players but I was just wondering something.

When someone proposes a trade, what do we use to determine if we accept/decline? Do I go off of if I like using that player, do well with them, and feel they are important personally or just by how valuable the RL team would hold them?

I'm just one of the GMs, no ultimate authority, but I would say... some of all of the above. As in, the whole idea is "what would you do in your franchise", so all of those approaches might apply, as you see fit. I think we're trying to avoid absolute homerism--as in, X player is untouchable just because he's my favorite player-- but it's up to you to determine how valuable the player really is, what would be a fair deal (as in, I'm pretty sure the RL Cubs aren't going to trade Garza, but if you offer me a future ace for him in June, and I'm not contending... we could at least talk, but you're probably gonna have to take Soriano too, and give me a young OF--just an example). Personally, I'm going to at least try to give a counteroffer of some kind, even if I don't like the initial offer. My 2 cents.

Re: A trade acceptance/rejection thread idea

Honestly, everything Derelict just said would have been pretty much my entire answer. Yes, we do want to avoid the blatant homerism... and that's another reason why we're doing the communications in public, so everyone can observe and discuss. But, I believe to a man that those who are representing these teams are franchising with them, so its mostly going to be "Would you do this trade in your own franchise."

Anyone can trade a Top-10 stud for 3 A prospects... for the most part and the limited amount that's been said since the project started, the representatives are acting like they'd be having to play these trades out -- which is exactly what we're going for.

NOTE: I noticed new representatives joining, I will be updating the list tomorrow night after work, but please free to start representing your squads, and thank you very much for supporting the project!

Not a problem. We can also change the title of this thread if you want until the teams are filled. Let me know.

Subject: Re: Proposed Offers for Jose Bautisa

                            Hey Ned,

Sorry about getting back to you so late. Just soaking up some much-needed Tampa sun the past few days, and we just got into Arlington a couple hours ago, and our check-in was longer than usual at the Sheraton. I guess even the waits are bigger down here, as the saying goes.

Anyway, I see the offers you've proposed, and while they're pretty fair, I'd like to make a counter offer. You'll get Jose Bautista, but we get Chad [Billingsley] and Andre [Either], no minor leaguers involved from either side.

Alternatively, I like Either packaged with Aaron Harang, plus outfield prospect Joc Pederson, who is currently with your High-A affiliate, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Harang is a fine alternative, given his unlucky average with balls in play this season, in which the stats say he should be pitching to around a 3.60 ERA. Hutch, our #5 starter Drew Hutchinson, needs a little more refinement at this time, even though I view his prospects as around a #2 or #3 starter at this time to be as high as ever. As such, Aaron would fit this mold perfectly as our #5, given his very fair 2 year contract.

I've gone sour on James Loney; an OBP that's consistently around .330, slugging under .400 3 of the last 4 years, and is making just over 6 million. I must have been having a Hendry-like flashback to 2007, my god. In none of the proposed deals will be James taken.

(Note: IRL, if I'm in AAs seat, and I'm talking with Ned Colletti, he doesn't even get to talking Joey Bats without Kershaw, Kemp, or some package involving at least 2 of Lee/Gould/Silverio. The above package is only applied to know what to give in a 'fair package' for MLB: The Show video game. The above proposals would never be offered/accepted by me in a keeper fantasy league.)

                              Hey Johnny,

Tough loss last night in Philly, sorry to hear about it, good luck against the Phillies in the rest of this series.

To get to the point, I was interested in talking with you about second base prospect Kolten Wong. I'd like to propose to you the following exchange. In exchange for second baseman Kolten Wong, I will offer you catching prospect Carlos Perez as well as right-handed pitching prospect Deck McGuire. I realize you over at the Arch have lots of pitching prospects like Shelby Miller, Tyrell Jenkins, and Carlos Martinez. But, as the saying goes, you can never have too much pitching.

Don't eat too many cheesesteaks out there, the real ones are at Charlies Steakery at Sq. 1; next time you're up here, your first one's one me!

                              Have a good one,

                              ~Alex A.
